Chapter 168

In a Banquet Hall

Students from different schools are chatting happily with each other. Despite what they went through yesterday they still find a way to just laugh it off and mingle with their fellow students as if yesterday's event did not happened. Their laughter and voices mixed in with the melodious music played in the background by the musician on the stage. 

In the center of the hall is an empty space where the male students who invited female students for a dance and vice versa, dance to the tune of the soft music.

On the side of the hall is a long table filled with a variety of foods and drinks while not far away from the table is a cluster of students surrounding the one and only Oreki with his group nowhere to be found.

"Thank you for healing me, Kamisato-san," one of the students said.

"It must have taken a toll on you to heal us, Kamisato-san"

"Not just heal, he resurrects the dead with just doing hand signs and shit"

"I think someone from the First High said that what Kamisato-san did was a very advanced ninjutsu"

"Does not matter what is it but what matters is that ninjutsu or spell have any consequences."

"That's right, That's right there has to be an equivalent exchange"

The chatter of the students surrounding Oreki stops as they all look intently at him while they wait for his answer if his resurrection spell has a backlash or any other payment in use,

Oreki could only give them a strained smile as he had been asked the same questions so many times. Though he appreciates the concerns at some point it's gonna get annoying. Even Maya and Miya yesterday were asking him nonstop about the same thing and the Old Kudou who was with Kouichi earlier before the banquet also did the same thing. Kouichi was quite concerned too because he already saw Oreki as the future son-in-law and he could see in the future that if Oreki really did die, Mayumi is going to grieve and she might not get married in the future if that happened. He also wants to see the future grandkids of these two, he could also imagine that his grandkids are going to be powerful magician because of their father's prowess.

Anyway back to Oreki, he was about to answer all of their questions again when Mari, Mayumi, and Suzunne arrived.

"Alright girls and boys let Oreki breathe" Mari shouted

"Eh! We still want to hang out with Kamisato-san" one of the girls said in a disappointing manner.

"Are going to go in between these lovebirds?" Mari asked while pointing to Oreki and Mayumi back a forth. This students turn to Mayumi and Oreki confirms the rumors that have been spreading that Oreki and Mayumi are a couple. The female students stared at Mayumi enviously while the boys just nodded as they thought she deserved a man of the same caliber as Oreki. 

Mayumi blushed before shouting "Mari you didn't have to say that out loud"

"What? Are you that embarrassed to be around Oreki that you rather make your relationship a secret." Mari retort.

"A..." Mayumi was lost for words as she stared intently at Mari before turning her head to Oreki who was smirking but started giving her puppy eyes. However, seeing this Mayumi just sucker punch his arm for acting like that though she thought it was adorable.

"Mou..." Mayumi pouted cutely while Mari and Oreki laughed, while Suzunne just smiled.

They made small talk as they got away from the crowd while going in the direction of the corner of the banquet hall.

When they arrived, Mayumi's face turned serious as she looked at Oreki's eye.

Seeing this, Oreki can already tell what Mayumi wants "I told you already, that resurrection spell is barely an inconvenience." He said with a shrug. "So stop worrying" He added while flicking Mayumi's forehead with his finger.

"Ouch..." Mayumi held her forehead. Mari and Oreki laugh again at her cute appearance. She wanted to reprimand Oreki for doing that but Suzunne interrupted her by asking Oreki. "When are you going to come back here?"

Hearing Suzunne's question, Mayumi's figure became stiff while Mari crossed her arms waiting for Oreki's answer. Oreki told them about the origin of their group to Mayumi's friend group and to his surprise they easily accepted it but he didn't ask why as they explained on their own and their reason was that Oreki and his group did not use CAD in their magic which means they have a different magic system.

Oreki who was being questioned just smiled and answered confidently "I can come back here anytime I want" Though he is going to use his Gacha Door ability to come back and pray to himself he did not stray too far from the timeline. Why is going to that unpredictable Gacha Door ability? It's more fun to get in the random timeline like he did when he saved Maya in the past. However, if he really strays from the timeline, he'll just time-jump to his desired time.

"Really? Is world travel that easy?" Mari question.

"For me? Yes, it's super easy" Oreki confidently said.

Mayumi gave a sigh of relief before smiling again. "You guys can come to our world for a bit of vacation."

Suzunne rejected Oreki's offer as she wanted to focus on their studies and papers.

"Even though you can study the magic principle of my world," Oreki said while looking a Suzunne.

"Tempting, but I'll still decline," Suzunne said but Oreki did not believe it. Sensing that she had been found out, she directly answers "But after graduation maybe we can go" 

Oreki smiled before turning to Mari and the latter was about to reject him "We can go to an otherworldy swordsmanship tournament or maybe even compete in them" he said.

"You son of bitch, I'm in" Mari shook Oreki's hands in agreement.

Mayumi and Suzunne laugh seeing this. As for why Oreki didn't offer Mayumi to come with him. Well, she already declined her offer as she wanted to study under her father on how to run the family head.

"By the way, where are they?" Mayumi asked while looking around trying to find the DxD group. Oreki answered that they already left.

They started talking with each other for a long while when Oreki heard the familiar music at the end of this arc in the Mahouka anime. He then turns to Mayumi before saying "Shall we dance" He smiles while offering his hand to Mayumi. The latter then accepts it as Oreki leads her to the dance floor leaving the two friends not before they say that they want a dance too.

With that all said and done, Oreki's adventure in the Mahouka universe ended....for now.

Several days after Oreki left the Mahouka World.

In the New Pentagon Office.

On a circular table there a 2 people sitting while facing each other. To the wall is a giant screen that shows a figure that both of them can see and that figure is. "How soon can we get that spell?" President of the United States of North America (POTUSNA) asked.

"We're already pressuring Japan to give us the Magic spell..." The one who said that is Paul Walker, the commander of STARS which is a military organization that has the reputation of being the most powerful force of Magicians in the world. Stars is under the direct command of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

"I can sense a but," POTUSNA said.

Paul looked at the man opposite of him signaling him to answer.

"But Japan had no jurisdiction against them so I don't think they'll be able to help us retrieve the spell" The man who answer is the second-in-command of Stars named Benjamin Canopus.

"TMC is an independent organization and Japan had no control over them" Paul added.

"I know, I know. You don't have to tell me that" POTUSNA said. "And I assume both of you have other plans?" He question.

"We already contacted Japan and the heads of TMC baring the three that, we already got their permission to get the spell but in return, they want a copy of the spell," Paul said with a smile.

POTUSNA smile "But you're not going give it to them." He said and Paul nodded before the POTUSNA laughed heartily but when he noticed the Stars commander and second-in-command frowning, he too turned serious before asking "It seems there's another problem"

There was silent for a while "We can't find the targets sir" Benjamin said.

The POTUSNA did not get angry at them but asked "How come you can't?"

Paul said that they can't explain why they can't find them even with the help of their Information Network Interception called Echelon III and the only they can think about is that the targets are out of their range.

POTUSNA did react to the explanation and remained until Paul opened his mouth he can't take the silent treatment anymore "But we plan on sending our best Stars Agent to gather information about whereabouts"

"Angie Sirius" POTUSNA muttered under his breath.

"As you probably know the Targets are close to the Kudou heir, so Angie Sirus is the best agent to gather information because she is the relative of the Kudou heir," Paul said with a smiled.

"Give the best possible support for Agent Sirius to complete the mission" POTUSNA stood up and fixed his suit as he instructed the two,

The Two stars leader stood and salute to the POTUSNA

"And I want that miracle magic no matter the cost," POTUSNA said before the screen cut to black.
