Watching A Human Die

After reading that, Monickai checked on the humans, which apparently were only considered sentient after reaching the tribal stage. He looked and saw a human lying on their back inside a small hut.

There was a small child, which only looked around 6 or 7 standing besides the bed.

"Daddy, when are we going to go out and play?

The child was a young girl with short yet thick hair. She was jumping from side to side and looked at her dad energetically. The dad was the one on the bed.

"Soon, dear.."

The dad said this weakly, his voice raspy and his eyes were watering. He reached out and patted the girls head. He smiled as brightly as he could. The girl looked at him happily. Then she noticed something strange.

He wasn't blinking.

The dads hand fell to the ground, his mouth smiling and his eyes open. The girl put her hand on her dads head.

"Daddy? What's wrong? You aren't blinking!"

She shook his head, he didn't respond.

She shook him harder.

No response.

Monickai watched the child shake her fathers head wildly.

He looked away.
