Chapter 67 - Overwhelming defeat

Since the knights had on helmets, you couldn't notice the fear that riddled their faces as sweat dripped down their cheeks. They were only in the 3rd circle while their opponent was in the 5th. The difference in strength was night and day. They stood no chance against Furl, but that didn't stop them from doing their duty. 

"For Young Lady Tessa!" One knight yelled

"For Young Lady Tessa!" the other chimed in. 

They charged at Furl, exuding their elementless aura as they went in for their assault. The four of them surrounded Furl and started their assault. 

"We may not be able to defeat you, be we can sure as hell slow you down!" Knight 1 charged at Furl, his blade pulsing with a white aura as he went in for his attack. 

[A/N: I'm not giving these knights names so they will be numbered lol. They are not important anyway.] 

*CLANG* 

Furl didn't move one bit. He wasn't threatened by these knights and their 3rd circle aura. He simply stood still as the flames around his body blocked the attack from Knight 1. 

"What the?!" Knight 1 could feel the intense heat coming off of Furl, but what shocked him even more was that he wasn't able to make Furl draw his sword as he couldn't get past his defenses. 

"Die you bastard!" Knight 2 attacked Furls blind spot hoping to catch him off guard, but just like Knight 1, his sword was stopped by the flames surrounding Furls body. 

"This is insane!" Knight 1 said, flabbergaststed. 

"Haah!" Knight 3 charged an aura beam and fired it at Furls head. He had put everything into his attack, giving it his all as he depleted his mana. "Not even you can block this!" 

Knight 4 followed Knight 3's tactic and shot an X-shaped aura beam at Furl, hoping he would at least have to dodge and they all could pressure him into a corner. Unfortunately, the difference between the 3rd and 5th circles was too great. Furl didn't even look at the attacks coming his way and stood in the same spot. 

The aura beam crashed into his fire doing absolutely nothing but make his fire wave as if it was being blown by the wind. Furl looked down, grabbed Knight 1 by the neck, and tossed him in the direction of the X aura beam. 

"Shit!" 

"Noo! Knight 1!" Knight 2 cried 

Knight 4 tried to cancel his attack, but it was too late as Knight 1 was sliced into 8 pieces. Furl grabbed Knight 2's head squeezing it like a grape. 

"Arhghhh!" He cried in pain as blood dripped from his nose and his teeth were stained red. He focused all his mana on Ferls arms to force him to release the grip on his head. A large explosion of mana went off picking up dirt and dust, blocking off the other 2 Knight's vision. But once the dust cleared, they saw the lifeless body of their companion being held up by Furl. He crushed the knight's head completely and burned the body. 

Knight 3 and 4 both backed away trying to make distance but against someone on Furls level, it was useless. 

Knight 3 felt his back collide with something before feeling a piercing pain in his chest. Slowly looking down, he saw a hand extending from his chest holding his heart. 

"Bwahh!" Knight 3 threw up blood and then died on the spot. 

"YOU SON OF A BITCH!!" Clouded by anger, Knight 4 charged at Furl and put as much mana as he could into his attack. He watched as all of his companions died one by one. They were his best friends, he knew their families, but they all died within a few moments. With one powerful swing, he swung at Furl, hoping to at least do a bit of damage, but to his horror, his sword was stopped by a finger. 

"Such a disappointment." Furl broke Knight 4's sword and chopped off his head with his hand. "I'm done here, don't take too long you guys." He sat on a nearby rock and relaxed for a bit. 

The mercenaries were also having a hard time like the knights, the only difference is that each of them has an element that adds to their collective power, but even that wasn't enough to tip the scales. 

"Lenny!" 

"Got it!" Using a powerful gust of wind, Lenny pushed Glenn toward Eunno which also amplified the flames that engulfed his sword. Derry cast a buff on everyone to make them deal more damage but also take less damage. Pantera wrapped Eunno's body in vines while Arnold encased him in rocks which made him look like a living sculpture. 

"Take this!" Glenn came at Eunno with a powerful strike, pumping a lot of mana into his attack which made his flames burn brighter and hotter. His blade came in contact with Eunno's neck but instead of chopping it off, the sword bounced off and Glenn's flames were extinguished. 

"Valiant effort fellow flame user, but that's not enough to beat me!" In motion, Eunno broke out of his bindings as if they were paper. As he was also a warrior who was raised by the Solight family, he too uses the fire element, but he doesn't radiate flames around his body as Furl does. 

"As a fellow flame user, you should be able to withstand this attack, no!" Eunno winched back his arm and his feet dug into the ground forming cracks on its surface. In an instant, he appeared in front of Glenn. 

"What the-?!" Flabergasted by his speed, Glenn wasn't prepared to defend himself. He tried to use his sword to block the oncoming punch but was too slow to move in time. Luckily Lenny was there to pull Glenn away from the strike with his wind and lucky was he because as soon as Eunno's fist slammed into the ground, a huge explosion occurred, obliterating the ground as if it wasn't there to begin with. 

"What kind of power...?!" Pantera was too shocked to even continue her sentence. Not just her, but all of them watched in horror as a massive crater formed from the powerful punch. 

"As a fellow flame user, I am disappointed that you decided to dodge instead of block the attack." Eunno shook his head. 

"You didn't even use fire!" Lenny protested 

"Oh, but I did. You just didn't see how I used it." Lifting up his leg, he stomped his foot hard into the ground, and just like before, the ground was completely obliterated. 

Everyone still looked confused, not knowing what happened, but Derry noticed right away. "He's releasing his flames at the very last second when he attacks which causes pressure between his leg and the surface he's striking causing a massive explosion." 

"What a good observation miss. If you don't mind me asking, do you also have an element?" Eunno smiled while asking. 

"Water." She replied coldly 

Going from a smile to a frown, Eunno's expression changed instantly. He had a look of disgust on his face as he cracked his knuckles and started walking toward Derry. 

"Water?! Disgraceful! Water and fire don't mix, you disgusting creature! I shall kill you for trying to taint the ways of the flame." He kept inching his way to Derry, but suddenly, his foot was caught in a blue light on the ground. Small magic formations were drawn on the ground stopping Eunno in his tracks. Blue chains made out of mana wrapped around his arms and legs and the pressure around him intensified greatly. 

"Like Joren always says, you talk too much." Derry smiled and holding up her staff, a large ball of water engulfed it, slowly turning into an axe. "Now's our chance!" 

Not batting an eye, they all used their strongest attacks on Eunno. Glenn's fore burned so how that his sword, which he was protecting with mana, started to melt. He sliced the air sending a powerful wave of fire called {Flare Blade} at Eunno. The attack was different from a normal fire slash as the {Flare Blade} explodes on contact and causes a chain explosion until all the mana in its vicinity is burned up. 

{Cyclone} Lenny used his most powerful attack which was creating a vortex of wind that cut at the opponent many times in a second. The cyclone also amplified Glenn's {Flare Blade} 

Pantera followed up by creating a 30ft golem made out of wood and vines. Clasping her hands together, she willed the wood around her to break apart and sharpen into many spikes as she willed vines to strangle Eunno then firing the wooden spikes at him. 

Derry sliced at Eunno with her water axe and Arnold lept into the air with a large boulder in his hands, slamming it down on Eunno with as much force as he could. Once the dust cleared, Eunno, who was trapped under the boulder, stopped moving and the mercenaries smiled at their victory.
