Siege of Nexus 2
Clouds of pulverized rock and dirt flew as steel cannon balls made contact with the ground, felling the troops who stood nearby. The less fortunate ones were quickly taken out of commission as the shots tore through their bodies. In one moment, the troops stood strong to block the incoming invaders, but after another moment, they were thrown into disarray and confusion. The defenders could only watch helplessly as more twelve pounders flew their way.
And when Frederick's Goliaths came charging, the lines that were heavily battered with gunfire were quick to flee for self-preservation, leaving their flanks vulnerable to the advancing forces. Although there were only but 20 of the massive gorilla-like mechanical contraptions, their clash with defending flesh troops were catastrophic. Cover fire ceased as the Goliaths made their entry, allowing them to fight to their hearts' content. With their massive arms, they swatted the defending warriors like bugs.
