Like father, like daughter

RACHEL'S POV 

I pretend to be busy with my daily duties while stealing secret glances at Maria through the corner of my eyes, searching for the perfect moment to get her alone and plead with her for the eleventh time about matters concerning Devon. After her recent rejection of my begging, I have since decided not to bother her with anything wolf anymore; it's not like she was ever useful to me anyway. 

But all that changed the moment I realized I might be dealing with a mad man on my hands, a mad man who knows where I live and could break in at any time of the day. I can't just remain calm like a sitting duck for him to gnaw at me as he pleases, no! I must take matters into my own hands. I need a way to protect myself.
