CHAPTER 60 : CHUNIN EXAM ARC

It has been around six months from the graduation of the newest batch of shinobis and kunoichis in Konoha. Kakashi the current Jonin commander was walking down the streets of Konoha with an orange book in hand when he saw the new jonin senseis gathering at yakuniku resturant. Following their lead he went in to see what was going on.

Inside the restaurant Asuma, Kurenai, Guy and Shisui were sitting at a table. Walking near them Kakashi spoke up, " Hey guys. What's up ?"

" Oh! It's Kakashi. My eternal rival. How are you this fine day?" The ever energetic guy asked.

" I am fine guy, what has got you all gathering today? shouldn't you train your teams?" he asked.

" We are here for that precise matter, Kakashi." Asuma commented.

" We are deciding whether we should let our teams participate in this years chunin exams." Kurenai commented.

Sitting down beside Shisui, Kakashi took out a notebook. Flipping through the pages he stopped and looked at Guy. " Let's begin with you Guy. Team 9 has an impressive total of 38 D rank missions, 25 C ranked missions and 3 B ranked missions. Also you refrained from letting your genins participate in the previous Chunin exams for them to have more experience. From the mission status alone I think you should let your team participate into the chunin exams. It will surely be beneficial for them participate and I believe some of them may even get promoted."

Thank you Kakashi. You have cleared my doubt. I shall not let their fires of youth be dwindled. My team shall participate in this years chunin exams." Guy said with a thumbs up and shining teeth. 

" Hmm. Next is team 10. Asuma's team. A total of 50 D rank and 6 C rank missions. I think letting them participate will be good for them to gain experience. Though they are new, they are not novices. After the training they got in the academy, it will greatly help them to improve." Kakashi said looking at Asuma. Asuma nodded his head and remained silent. 

Turning towards Kurenai, Kakashi said, " Team 8 has done 70 D rank missions and 3 C rank missions. Although not overly impressive but nothing to scoff at. Two clan heirs with good control of clan techniques and a civilian who is kind of a genius when it comes to medica ninjutsu. I heard that Sakura is taking lessons under Lady Tsunade?" 

" Yes, Lady Tsunade was impressed with Sakura's performance in the hospital and decided to teach her a few things. Sakura did not disappoint and learned all she was taught quite quickly. I have to admit, her chakra control is very impressive. And she is quite good in genjutsu. High chunin I would say in Medical ninjutsu and Genjutsu, but over all she is high genin level. Needs to work on Taijutsu and Ninjutsu." Kurenai finished.

" Hmm. You should let them participate. This will be a good opportunity for them to grow in difficult circumstances." Kakashi said.

Kurenai nodded her head and said, " I will talk to them about this."

"And now the strongest Genin team currently in the village. Team 7 with a total of 124 D ranked missions, 28 C ranked missions, 7 B ranked missions and 1 A ranked mission. Most Impressive. If I did not read the repots myself I would not have believed that this was the stats of a genin team in 6 months. I have the reports but I would like to hear from you about your team, Shisui." Kakashi said.

Clearing his throat Shisui began, " Well when I got the team they were already quite good. The weakest among them was Sauske. But after the incident with Itachi, he has become determined to grow strong. Currently he is High chunin level with impressive ninjutsu. His sharingan has evolved into three tomoes at the age of 12 and that is very rare for an Uchiha. Overall he is quite strong.

Then comes the Hyuga Princess. Her taijutsu with byakugan combination can be deadly. She has full mastery of the Hyuga clan techniques. Her Byakugan is one of the best from her clan, she can see upto a range of 10 kilometes. She is also good in medical ninjutsu. Overall a High chunin.

And next is Naruto. The kid is monstrously strong. Taijutsu is around Low jonin levels. But he is a ninjutsu monster. During our first C rank mission which later turned into an A rank, he first defeated Zabuza Momoichi, an A ranked Jonin and one of the seven swordsman of kiri in a ninjutsu battle and then nearly killed him when he was weakened. A simple C ranked ninjutsu was amped up to the level of an A rank. Hokage Sama was right when he said the boy has incredible control over water and earth. Plus his fuinjutsu. I think he is even better than Jiraiya Sama in that regard. The paper bombs he created were atleast ten times more powerful than the ones available in the market. If I have to say, he is a definite Mid Jonin level combatant, and that is in his base form. He can control upto three tails while remaining sane and that pushes him upto a high Jonin." Shisui finished.

The other three had their eyes widened hearing the report. Kakashi did not looked that much shocked as being the Jonin commander he already knew that information. Looking at Shisui, he said, " Your team is one of the favourites to win the Exams. Letting them participate will be like a walk in the park. But these exams can be unpredictable. Give them a proper warning that even though they are strong they are not quite invincible yet. I think You would be the best one to teach them never to let their guards down. After all, even a kunai can kill a Kage." Kakashi warned with a eye smile.

" I will do it tomorrow. I will be sure to engrave it in their brain." Shisui nodded in agreement.

" Good. I hope you know Hokage Sama has called a meeting of the Jonin senseis to finalize the participation of the chinun exam candidates. I will see you all there."

Kakashi bid them farewell and went on his way to get lost in the road of life.

" You know Kakashi used to come late to every meeting. But after I came back from that wave mission it changed. Do you guys know why?" Shisui asked.

Kurenai blushed and Asuma and Guy laughed. Asuma said," Well you were out of the village so you don't know. the hokage once called him to a meeting. He went there late as usual. Well three hours late. The next morning kakashi was found hanged in the market place, upside down, Naked in all but his underwear tied up and asleep. He woke up to find people ataring at him and laughing. I think that event had left a scar in mind and from thar day he was never late to any meeting." 

" Damm. I missed that. Did you see his face?" Shisui asked.

" Unfortunately no. He still had a mask on." 

" I see...Must be hard being Kakashi. " Shisui said with a bit of sympathy.
