A kid with blue and red hair could be seen lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling.
"Hey, are you gonna go or not?" came a voice from the bottom bunk where Shintaro was lying.
"I still haven't decided," said Ganrai.
"There's no reason for you not to go. The hero Yoroi Musha is ranked as the ninth-best hero, and he's been famous for a while, so he must really have a lot of money," said Shintaro.
"Probably."
"I get why he wants to adopt you. You're only four years old and already have strong and cool quirks. Plus, you have a cute face. In contrast, I don't have any quirks or any other reason for someone to want to adopt me..."
"Stop that. Someone will definitely want to adopt you eventually, and you'll be very happy with them," said Ganrai, feeling a bit uncomfortable not knowing how to properly comfort an eight-year-old.
"I feel like God was really good to me, being reborn in a place like this. Even though being an orphan is supposed to be a good thing, this place is cozy, and I've met good people like the nuns Mary, Rose, and Anne, and the kids, especially Shintaro. But looking at it another way, I won't be able to grow just staying here at the orphanage. Maybe with my quirk, I could keep gaining some skills periodically through the system's missions until I'm old enough to take the U.A. test, but it would be at a much slower pace. Would I have to depend on getting mugged? Plus, I'd have to go through more complicated stuff to unlock other abilities with the system. If I just stayed put here, I'd be at a complete disadvantage compared to kids like Todoroki Shoto, who, despite undergoing abusive training from his father, received some training," Ganrai thought.
After the dialogue, the two kids changed clothes and headed to the classroom, where they sat in their usual seats, and the class proceeded as usual. During the break, Ganrai went to look for Sister Rose, as he was convinced that the right decision would be to leave the orphanage.
"So, have you made up your mind?" Rose asked.
"Yes, I'm going to accept being adopted," said Ganrai.
"Alright, at the end of the class, come to the main gate, they'll be waiting for you," Rose concluded and was already turning away.
"Wait!" Ganrai said.
"I'd like to say goodbye to the other children," Ganrai said.
"If that's what you want, just wait until the classes are over, and when everyone is heading to the dormitory, you say your goodbyes. Don't forget to gather your things," Rose advised.
"Okay."
After the conversation with Sister Rose, Ganrai returned from break to have his last class at the orphanage with the people he had lived with for the past few years, and when it ended, he asked all the children to gather so he could speak.
"So, guys, as many of you have already found out, I'm going to be adopted today and won't be able to be with you here at the orphanage anymore," Ganrai said, immediately making all the children present sad.
"Do you really have to go? We haven't even finished our basketball game..." Yu said.
"I really have to go," Ganrai said as he hugged Yu and some other children who came towards him. Then he looked for Shintaro, who was a bit behind the crowd.
"Dude, I need you to look after Mary-Senpai since I won't be here anymore," Ganrai said.
"You can count on me," Shintaro said, his eyes turning red.
"See you later," Ganrai said.
"See you later," Shintaro said, now with tears in his eyes.
After crossing the door that he had entered into a picnic basket four years ago, he came face to face with a red limousine, and in front of it was the hero Yoroi Musha and his wife, who looked at him with a gentle smile on her face. The nuns were by his side, and he made sure to hug each one of them. After that, he was about to get into the limousine when he heard Sister Mary shout.
"Ganrai, don't forget to keep studying!" she shouted, probably because Ganrai had missed some classes out of sheer laziness since he already knew everything that was being taught in the basic classes.
"Okay!" he said, giving her a thumbs-up before getting into the car.
"Aren't you going to miss them?" Yoroi Musha asked.
"I will, but I have to move forward," Ganrai said.
"Don't worry; we'll give you all the love and care possible in the world," the woman said as she ran her hands through his hair.
"By the way, Ganrai, my name is Yumi Aiko, but you can call me Mom if you want," the woman said.
"Alright, Aiko-Dono."
"Oh no, how cruel, Ganrai-Kun..."
"Leave him alone, Yumi, he'll call you that when he's ready," Yoroi Musha said.
"Sorry, but I have to ask, do you have a name?" Ganrai asked.
"Since becoming a hero, I've abandoned my names, and now I'm just Yoroi Musha, but you can call me whatever you want," the white-bearded man said.
"Alright, Yoroi-Dono."
After a few minutes, the limousine stopped, making Ganrai believe that he had arrived at his new home. As he got out of the car, he had an unbelievable sight: a gigantic mansion with architecture clearly based on classical Japan.
"Ganrai-Dono, I'm Renjiro, the butler assigned to serve you. Please follow me, and I'll show you around the mansion and then to your room," Renjiro said.
"Okay," Ganrai said, feeling a bit uncomfortable as he had never imagined he would have a butler one day.
"Yoroi Musha's mansion is divided into five blocks. This one we're in is the first, which is the garden and walkway block where the lakes are. The next one is the main block called Honkan, which houses the main living room, the family's bedrooms, and the tea room. It's decorated with wooden panels.
The third block is the Guest block, known as Kyakuden, offering comfortable and private rooms, elegantly and traditionally decorated with tatami mats and futons.
The fourth block is the service block, known as Kuriya, including the kitchen, pantry, and areas for the butlers.
And the fifth and final block is the training block, known as Ryuketsu, which houses the Fighting Arena and the Gym.
After the explanation, Renjiro took Ganrai to his room so he could rest.
"Goodnight, Ganrai-Dono."
"Thank you very much, Renjiro-San."
After checking out his room's door, he clocked its style was different from all the others, more on the modern side. Stepping in, the first thing that hit him was its size – pretty spacious, boasting even two bathrooms. Plus, it had a sleeker look. He thought maybe Yoroi Musha would reckon it better to go for a different aesthetic for a "new-gen" kid, but he didn't care. He just flopped onto the bed when a system message popped up.
[Mission Completed]: Accept Yoroi Musha's adoption offer.
[Reward]: Magma Pistol
But the kid barely paid attention and just dozed off.
