Chapter 3: The abode above the realms

Regaining his vision, Red saw that he is now in front of stairs leading to a platform.

Red couldn't be more familiar with this place. This is the first stop for all the players of Overworld, a place where they could choose their race and profession, the character selection screen, but to the natives of the game, this place had a more resounding name.

The abode above the realms; Hall of Gods.

Walking up the stairs, Red soon reaches the platform. In the opposite direction from where he stood were 5 statues representing the 5 playable races of Overworld.

From left to right they are respectively; a bearded dwarf wrapped in heavy armor carrying a shield twice his height; a sprite wearing baggy robes carrying a thick book; an elf whose face is obscured carrying a long bow on her back; a human king holding a sword; lastly, an orc wielding a great sword while sporting a ferocious expression.

On the back of each statue are doors leading to a mystical pool. Submerging in the pool would alter the player's appearance depending on his chosen race.

What was worth noting was that the race chosen corresponds to the profession a person can choose in the game.

Dwarfs: Thief, Shielder

Elves: Archer, Beast Tamer

Humans: Knight, Gunslinger

Orcs: Fighter, Warlock

Sprite: Mage, Assasin

Only in the later stages of the game could players change their profession by doing promotion quests or class change quests.

The way to choose your race was to simply walk in the direction of the statue of said race. Once a player is a certain distance from the door, the passage leading to the pool will open.

If it was before, Red wouldn't be able to hold back his curiosity and would peek at all the doors but since he reincarnated he knows that all the rooms are identical.

Not wanting to waste his time, Red strode forward to the statue of the fierce-looking Orc.

His reason for choosing this race is because of its most obvious perk: in the game, you will be a literal orc, not some shitty humanoid with a different colored skin.

The game will modify the players' features to fit the description of an Orc. The player's height will increase by 2-5 inches based on the player's preference, their builds would be much stockier as well, and the most major change of all is that their facial structure will follow the Orcs with two tusks poking out from their mouth.

For Red, this is the perfect disguise and he also won't have to waste time doing quests that will reward him with a mask or anything that can conceal his identity.

With this perfect disguise, it would be more convenient for Red to take action in the game without the risk of people knowing his identity in the real world.

The main reason, however, was because he knew the way to trigger the mission that will reward him with an S-class profession, the Berseker.
