The Guardian's Challenge

As I slipped through the hidden entrance into the castle's lower levels, the familiar, cool stone walls felt like a comforting embrace. I was back. The artifact, now safely nestled in my bag, pulsed with a soft glow, as if it were relieved too. I made my way up the winding staircases and through the labyrinthine corridors, my steps echoing softly in the dim light.

When I finally reached the main hall, the morning sun was just beginning to filter through the tall, stained-glass windows, casting vibrant patterns on the stone floor. My stomach growled, reminding me that I hadn't eaten a proper meal in days. But before I could think about food, I needed to secure the artifact.
