Edgar silently stirred the soup in front of him, showing no intention of eating it. Evelyn stared at her friend with concerned eyes and had her lips pursed into a thin line.
This won't do.
She grabbed the bowl from in front of him and took the spoon from his hand. Then, scooping up some of the content, she brought it closer to his mouth.
"No matter what, you have to eat. Didn't your grandpa get mad at you before for skipping meals before? Do you want to dissatisfy him further?"
Edgar stared at the spoon before saying, "He is not alive any more. I can do whatever I want to. He won't know and can't punish me."
His voice trembled as those words left his mouth, and it made Evelyn bite down on her lower lip, knowing her friend was going through intense agony.
He was lost and didn't know what to do about all the emotions inside him. Evelyn found her friend to be extremely pitiful and wanted to erase all of his pain away.
