That girl, wearing red wool made a sweater look at Wang Kai's hand before she slowly raises her hand. When she looked up, finally Wang Kai can see her red eyes and runny nose.

"I.. I don't remember any of my family numbers..." She said with a small timid voice, retracting her shy eyes from Wang Kai. Wang Kai furrows his eyebrow, subconsciously wants to say that she is a fool.

Wang Kai left without saying anything after that, leaving that girl in the red sweater in a daze. Her eyes turn bright as she shouted her name for afar.

"Ming Xi! My name called Ming Xi!"

When Xiao Ni arrived at Wang Kai's mansion, the servant told her that Wang Kai is having a video conference. The dinner was served and looks very appetizing.

Xiao Ni walks towards the dining room and stares at the food, then pouted. She didn't want to eat alone but Wang Kai seems very busy with his work.

Her head hanging low and decided to skip dinner for today. She walks passed Wang Kai's room and faintly heard someone talking behind the door.

With a heavy heart, she drags her foot to her own bedroom. Han Li observes Xiao Ni who looks dispirited and felt a little guilty. He shouldn't butt in, after all, it's their relationship.

However, he also can't stand between two of them. They clearly happy when they're together, why should they break up?

Han Li knock Wang Kai's door to do his obligation, reporting Xiao Ni's activities today.

"Come in." Wang Kai chilly voice coming out from inside the room. Han Li steps into the room, watching that he has finished with his video conference.

"Big Boss, after you go miss Guan lost her interest any only went to an antique shop and bookstore. They parted away after walking for 2 hours. Miss Guan has return, no she is in her room at the moment." Wang Kai nods his head and keeps typing something on his laptop.

"Mr.Xavier bought a necklace for Miss Xiao Ni at the antique store and Miss Xiao Ni bought a trophy." he left out the fact that Xavier himself put on the necklace to Xiao Ni.

Han Li thought of something as he watches Wang Kai's cold expression. He clearly not in a good mood. "Boss, are you sure you want to break up with miss Xiao Ni?" he asks carefully, afraid that he might wake up the sleeping tigers.

Wang Kai stops typing when he heard Han Li question, throw an empty look at the screen in front of him for a few second.

"Boss, It's true that you have made a big mistake, but it's human, human make mistake. There is no relationship without a problem, there is no smooth sailing in this world. Forgive me if I step over my line but breaking up is not a solution."

Han Li was prepared to leave when he saw Wang Kai's depressed expression.

Suddenly Wang Kai throws his back at the chair and looks up to the ceiling. "Has she eaten her dinner?" Wang Kai throws another question that didn't answer Han Li's question at all.

Han Li shook his head. Wang Kai nods his head and stood up. "I understand."

Xiao Ni run to the door when she heard Wang Kai's voice calling her from outside. "Wiatttt...." she yielded as she tidies up her sleeping wear.

When she opened her door, Wang Kai's eyes quickly traveled to her body and frown. "Cover yourself and eat dinner."

Xiao Ni blush but refuse to obey him. "Don't have any appetite, don't want to eat alone."

Wang Kai raised his eyebrow, began to provoke her. "I never see a pig refuse to eat before," he said with amusement. Xiao Ni glare at him with hatred.

She prepared to kick Wang Kai's knee to relieve her anger, but Wang Kai quickly dodges her kick and catch her legs instead. "Alright, not teasing you anymore. Accompany me to eat." Wang Kai requested with a hidden smile in his handsome face.

"What are you? 5 years old? still need to be accompanied while eating." She mocked him but took her Donald duck sweater after he realized her leg.

Wang Kai shrugged his shoulder. "If I wanted to eat alone then I wouldn't chase you until here."

Weird. He comes just to have her as his company for eating dinner? Xiao Ni gives a weird look at him, but Wang Kai was too busy to care.

They walk shoulder to shoulder and casually chatted as they walk to the dining room. The big mansion was filled with laughter after Xiao Ni started become chatty. She was too focused on their conversation and didn't watch the little stairs to the dining room.

"Wah!!!" She lost her balance and grab Wang Kai's sturdy hand. Wang Kai reflects hug her waisted to prevent her from falling. The distance between them is almost zero as the temperature began to rise.

At that moment Wang Kai's attention was grabbed by a shiny object around Xiao Ni's necklace.

If it is in the drama, both of them would freeze in a frame for 3 seconds as the melodramatic music started to play as their back sound.

Wang Kai lifelessly looks at the necklace, his gaze gets darker and colder. Xiao Ni subconsciously follows Wang Kai's gaze, towards the shiny objects on her neck.

She felt guilty like she has an affair behind him when they actually have broken up. Wang Kai retracted his gaze and forced a smile as he helps Xiao Ni to stand up on her own.

"Nice necklace," he commented before he walked away. Xiao Ni follows his back, dumbfounded. Not angry? Not jealous? Not gonna throwing a fit on her?

Alas, she should have removed the necklace the moment she parted away with Xavier. She tried to open the hook with her own hand but failed miserably. Afraid that it would take too long she hide the necklace inside her sweater.

Wang Kai has seat on the dining chair when Xiao Ni enters the dining room. "Do you want to request any other food?" Wang Kai asks like it was nothing happen. It's made Xiao Ni even more cautious of him.

No way he didn't know that Xavier is the giver of this necklace. He deliberately leaves Han Li with his spy, and Han Li obviously stands on Wang Kai's side.

Seeing that Xiao Ni was in a daze, Wang Kai snaps his finger to gain Xiao Ni's attention. At the sound from his finger, Xiao Ni was bought back. "Ah? what?"

"Do you want to eat any special food? we have a chef here." Wang Kai asks with his flat tone. Xiao Ni has customized to his flatness, but today she felt like something was off.

Maybe because she felt guilty about Xavier? or maybe because he didn't usually as calm as he is today. She almost felt like he treats her like a stranger he needs to take care of.

"No, It's enough." Xiao Ni said, still observing Wang Kai's expression. Wang Kai nods his head and began to his plate.

The dining room filled with silence after that. Xiao Ni felt like the air pressure between them were too heavy to her handles, she decided to break the ice by complaining to him.

"Why are we eating Chinese in Italy? so boring."

Wang Kai is spooning his dumplings when he heard her complain. He elegantly chews before he gives her a reply.

"You can request any food to your liking."

Xiao Ni long eyelashes flutter as she felt a ten thousand miles distance between them. She felt like it was high school all over again. She put down her chopstick and decided to confront him.

"What is wrong with you? why are you ignoring me?" flustered, she looks at Wang Kai sharply. Wang Kai continues his meal and didn't get affected by Xiao Ni.

"I didn't ignore you, I answer to everything you say." He was being reasonable as he didn't ignore her verbally. Xiao Ni tongue becomes mum after hearing his answer.

A few moments of silence before she spooks up with a high tone again.

"It's about Xavier, isn't it? you are ignoring me because you are jealous of him!"

Wang Kai's eyebrows furrowed, almost touched each other. "I didn't ignore you." he proclaims again without looking at her.

He still looks composed, as he indifferently handles Xiao Ni's acquisition.

"You are not ignoring me but why do I feel like you are so distant? What is wrong with you?" Xiao Ni frowns deepen, her soul soar away, flying so high before it falls into a deep sea of emotions.

"You can't act like this, we've broken up, you don't have any right to be jealous of him. Moreover, he was clearly just a friend!" She shouted and regretted at the same moment.

Wang Kai slowly raises his head and looks at her with the eyes she never saw before. His eyes were as sharps as dagger cutting through her hearts. He showed no expression but the eyes spoke for him.

He holds his breath, turning his body away without looking at her. Within a second's Xiao Ni has lost his presence in the dining room. The dish has turned cold, as cold as Wang Kai's heart.

Slowly Xiao Ni's body slumped, she hugs her legs and cried in between. What does he mean by that?

Does he really give up on them?

He set her free. Who gives him the right to set her free? wait, no, who gives him the right to control her life from the first place?

Xiao Ni stunned when she realized something. She is the one who gives him the right to do so, she subconsciously hanging on a hope that they would eventually get back together.
