Between the devil and the deep sea

Well, apart from being forced to work hard in bed. Xiao Ni also works hard to get things done for her foundation. So on a certain Monday morning, she visits the landowner from the piece of land she wanted to buy.

Wang Kai sure has told her she could always turn to him for help. But Wang Kai also knows how stubborn Xiao Ni is when she wanted something. He could see it through her eyes the determination to do this on her own.

Aside from a piece of advice and a little trick, he let her go while he went to the office.

The real owner of the building just passed away, so their child wanted to sell the building and the land. The problem is someone cut her deal in the middle.

"I apologized, but we won't sell it to you." The youngest brother said right after Xiao Ni explains the purpose of buying the building. Xiao Ni's face darkens but still maintain a polite smile.

The older sister gives her brother and glare and gives Xiao Ni apologetic looks. "He's a brat, don't mind him. However, We really cannot accept your offer, Miss Guan. Just as I've said to Mr.Han, there is someone who willing to pay twice the amount you can give us."

Xiao Ni composed herself and curled her lips, showing a beautiful smile to the older sister. "Miss Lee, In fact, I knew whose the other party and their purpose. They wanted to turn this building into a fashion museum. I knew this building holds very importance and history for the Capital city."

"Well, it's true. This building once hides many lives at the mid-century war and later turned into a school for women in early 1700." The older sister looks hesitant now.

"Yes, My husband told me this fact. If I can be frank, I was thinking to build a new building, but after he told this, I don't have any of those thoughts anymore." Xiao Ni felt lucky she listen to Wang Kai's instruction in the morning.

"Sis, don't be fooled by her!" The brother shouted out, giving Xiao Ni a hateful glare. Xiao Ni raised her eyebrow at the brother. She directly shows him a confused face.

"I'm sorry, Mister Lee, but did I offend you in some way? did we knew each other?"

The second sister, who did not say anything from the start hit her brother's head with her hand. He hissed at her, seems like he wanted to say something when the second sister has cut him off first by talking to Xiao Ni.

"I'm sorry, he has serious eye issues. He is one of Meng Li Xue's fans." The older sister said.

"You make her banned from the industry, how ruthless! How can I believe you want to do charity when you did not have the heart to forgive her?" The boy snapped.

Dumbfounded Xiao Ni now understands why he gave her such a nasty look. It's been a very long time since she heard about Meng Li Xue. Turn out she did have some loyal fans. Xiao Ni nods her head in with an understanding face then returns to her aim.

"Well, I'm not the one who banned her. So she can do whatever she wanted with her life. Also, for the building, I could give you the same amount as the other party offer. Twice from my offering."

The older sister now looks relieved. It's a good sign for Xiao Ni. Xiao Ni has a wide grin on her face before turning to Han Li to prepare the paper.

"Wait! the other party said they could pay us thrice from the normal price." The second daughter shouted.

Xiao Ni was so furious that she kidnapped Xia Sha. She vents her anger by shopping on the GW. It's the second store they visited, and Xiao Ni almost finished her story.

"I guarantee their father is crying from his grave!" She remarked furiously, still gazing through dozen of clothes in the store. Xia Sha shook her head and implied casually.

"Principle is nothing when so much money involved. Just offer them a bigger amount if you really want the land. It's not like you have less money from them."

"I did raise the offer." Xiao Ni answers curtly. "But I did not want the building anymore."

"Then why are you so furious?" Xia Sha is stupified.

"Because this Song Qian is getting on my nerve! She is clearly targeting me right now. She thought being a Xiao Mistress gave her enough face to become my rival." Xiao Ni's exasperation is palpable.

It is a slap on her face after losing for Song Qian. Every time she thinks about this her blood boils. "How could I lose to a mistress?" Xiao Ni's eyes conflicted.

"Well, that makes two of us." Xia Sha respond turn Xiao Ni into silence mode. She buried her head on the clothes and acting like she heard nothing. She felt awful for reminding Xia Sha of the event.

Xia Sha chuckle. She patted Xiao Ni's shoulder lightly. "But after losing the scum, I gained a rich, handsome Adonis. Trust me, it just a delayed victory."

Xiao Ni's stomach flips the moment she heard Xia Sha's describing her brother that way. She frowned, "Xia Sha, you've changed."

Where is the cool Xia Sha gone?

Why is everybody she knew slowly turning to love slaves, huh?

Many rounds of shopping later, they stopped at the most deserted cafe in the mall. Xiao Ni wanted to prove Xia Sha her own made theory. Whenever she visited a deserted place, the crowd will follow her.

"Just wait and see." She said to Xia Sha after the waitress goes with their order. Xia Sha shrugged her shoulder, did not believes her silly theory.

They chatted for half-hour and finally, the cafe has another visitor. Xiao Ni looks at her excitedly, while Xia Sha pressed her lips. "It's only one visitor. Coincidence, I believe it's all coincidence."

Xiao Ni humped and averted her gaze. "What looks them so long to cook the food?" she mumbles.

"I'm going to the ladies room first." Xia Sha stood up and leaves the table. Xiao Ni keeps her eyes on the door after Xia Sha left. So many people walk past them but no one enters the cafe.

When she started losing her hopes, a woman wearing a blue dress entered the cafe with a surprised look. When their eyes meet, Xiao Ni's eyes twinkled. Excitedly she waves her hand to her.

"Xiao Ni!"

"Ye Na!"

They greet each other, and Xiao Ni invited Ye Na to join her table. Xia Sha comes back shortly after. When Ye Na saw Xiao Ni is hanging out with Xia Sha she was surprised.

"Oh, I forget to tell you. I'm here with my future sister in law." Xiao Ni avowed Xia Sha. Xia Sha sat down and have a dignified look on her face.

"Long time no see." Xia Sha said.

Ye Na has an awkward smile and replied curtly. "Yes, Who knows Xiao Ni will be family with her biggest enemy in high school."

Xiao Ni and Xia Sha look at each other, smiling and shrugging their shoulder at the same time. Ye Na looks at Xia Sha and Xiao Ni back and fort. They look like a long time best friend rather than an ex enemy.

A weird feeling creeps into Ye Na's heart.

She felt like a stranger between two best friends, while Xiao Ni and her were the real best friend here. But she tried to put aside her feelings and chimed in when Xia Sha and Xiao Ni starts to discuss her upcoming wedding.

Yes, Xia Sha is getting married to Guan Xian soon.

"Tracing back, I think you indirectly have become the matchmaker between me and your brother." Xia Sha sipped her drink.

"I better have my enemy as my sister in law rather than the rooster!" Xiao Ni waves her hand as if it's did not matter to her. But two of them can see how smug her face right now.

"Xiao Xing's mother desperately wanted her to climb into a higher branch now that Song Qian has taken her seat. My mother is almost blinded. Thank God I can prevent this disaster." Xiao Ni exaggeratedly clasped her hand into praying hand and looked up to the ceiling. Xia Sha chuckles slightly.

"Xia Sha is not wrong. You also introduced me to Brother Song. It's a pity I'm not as lucky as Xia Sha." She lowered her gazed and played with her strew.

"What happens?" Xiao Ni asked carefully because Ye Na look sad. Ye Na showed a forced smile and shook her head desperately.

"Nothing." She mouthed and played with her straw again.

"It's okay if you did not want to tell me. But so that you know, I'm still willing to listen and help you as a friend." Xiao Ni said, trying to comfort Ye Na.

"You are willing to help me?" Ye Na's face lightens up, she looks at Xiao Ni as if she was her savior. Xiao Ni has no choice but to nod her head to cheer her up.

Ye Na claps her hand out of excitement. "Xiao Ni, I know you are still the best!" she gushed. Xiao Ni's lips twitched, but smiles appear on her face.

"It's like this. You know I have a crush on Brother Song and actively pursuing him. But I felt his response was lukewarm. He did not push me away nor received me with excitement. So I was thinking, can you set up a date for us?" Ye Na looked at Xiao Ni with great hope.

Xiao Ni pressed her lips into a thin line. She is lost in her own thought the moment Senior Brother Song's name was brought up by Ye Na. Thinking about him, she felt too ashamed to face him after the scandal.

He did nothing but being a good senior and doctor to her. She drags him into the mud, it must have affected his life no matter how big or small the changes is.

She needs to apologize to him for sure.

But how can she shamelessly ask for his help after apologizing?
