A desperate gamble

With a kisses in the air and an arcane word, Feniggan cast a charm on Elena.

"Thank the gods it is you!" she exclaimed, springing up from the bed to embrace him.

"What have I done? What have I done?" she sobbed into his shoulder.

"Do you not know, Elena? Elena, do you not know what you have done?" Feniggan kept using her name, hoping it would somehow soothe her.

"I cannot... I cannot remember..."

"Gareth. Do you remember the last time you saw him?"

"At the inn. You hurt him. You are such a good man... Why did you hurt him?" Elena asked, her voice quivering.

"I could not... Why is your dress stained so?" Feniggan inquired.

"I was running away, away from the inn. And then there was a voice, an awful voice in my soul..." She cupped her hands and wailed, "I CANNOT REMEMBER!"

Soon, Feniggan heard footsteps approaching from the hall. No doubt her brother.
