Reaching Out

A boy left all alone in the world after being abandoned by his mother in a poor clan that treated him harshly because he started showing signs of being different from other kids and the people around him. With him being ostracized more and more he became less and less of the cheerful young kid he use to be until eventually turning discreet and mute around others in hopes that they would stop being scared of him. Though that plan never worked out for him and, in the end he was left to strive on his own as best as he could in the environment he was left in. He explored the towns library and any books he could find in his Clan even if they were useless. Years on years of doing such things eventually led him into stumbling across a book that would help push him towards the thing he wanted the most. "The Basic Guide To The Astral Path" This book may not of been special to anyone in the long run but, it was to him because, it was his new beginning. With this new path available to him would he be able to push through all the obstacles and hardships waiting for him or in the end will he stumble and fall? Or will people be there to catch him if he does once again?

So that's what happened."

Listening to Xilo finish his recount of what had happened Xelfia relaxed a little bit as she finally learned about a way of escaping this place but it did worry her a little that they were trapped in this place now. She had checked the entrance when Xilo mentioned that with some doubt but when she hit a similar wall as the others that didn't let even her body through she couldn't deny what the snake said as truth anymore yet there was one more thing she was curious about as well.

"So do you know why he called you a familiar one?"

"That's what I was wondering as well though it could be because we come from the same Beast line or it could be just his way of referring to other Astral Beasts. Since you said we can't go back anymore we'll never know."

"I thought so but I was curious if you knew more."

"Sorry."

Xelfia felt a little bad for Xilo that she couldn't answer what he wanted but there was nothing she could do about it. She had some memories with her but all in all they were just things that helped guide her along the way at the beginning of her life. Ever since then nothing else had appeared until today when she entered these ruins and this memory felt a little bit different from her own beforehand. "Like it wasn't mine." Remembering that giant shadow she felt fear surface in her before shaking it off and returning to what they had to do next to help get her mind off it.

"So about these tests, do you think we can pass them?

"No clue really. It would have been nice to know a bit more about them as well but we have to go in blind. So let's hope we don't struggle to much"

"I think we got this besides I'm here to help you now so don't worry too much okay?"

"Yeah it's best to not let it get to me you're right, sorry about that."

Facing the pathway on the right side of the room Xilo assumed the next test would be there as he started walking towards it.

"Let's get going."

With Xelfia right beside him they both arrived in front of the path and walked inside with nothing stopping them as that same weird feeling as before washed over them. Getting used to it they traveled down the path for a couple minutes until they eventually made it to the exit but this time around the excitement Xelfia had was gone while Xilo stayed calm and prepared himself for whatever was on the other side of the door. Knowing they wouldn't be able to leave he tried to be in the best state possible as he turned to see Xelfia in the corner of his eye doing the same.

"Are you ready?"

"As much as I can be."

"Good."

Both formed some Astral Energy in their hands as they walked towards the door prepared to fight anything the second they crossed through the barrier. This time around they wouldn't be taken by surprise if it was a fight. Putting a hand each on the barrier they both pushed through at the same time. The second they saw the other side they both tensed up and got ready to fight at any moment as they looked around the room for any immediate danger. But after looking around the room for a minute or so and not finding anything Xilo started to wonder if this wasn't a fighting test as he relaxed his body slightly. The room they were currently in was a lot smaller than the other two previously and probably only able to hold about 50 people as well as the pillars weren't there anymore so there was no worries about things hiding behind them but the most different part of the room was the walls.

Unlike the other two rooms where they could barely understand any of the writing or drawings in them, this room had things they could understand on the walls. Each wall had two images that spread across the whole section. The first wall to their left Had a Heart Symbol on it alongside a Dragon next to it while the wall in front had a pair of large Fangs and Water. Thirdly the wall on their right had a Star Symbol with nothing else on the side. Looking up at the roof though two words of text were writing in a language XIlo could understand that said "Show us." Looking at all these things around him confusion filled his brain as he wondered what any of them meant.

"So it's not a fight."

"Yet why does it seem so much more frustrating."

Xilo couldn't help but agree with Xelfia while looking at each symbol on the wall as he settled down and started to think about the test this time around. "So the hint is show us but what exactly do they want us to show, Each thing in the picture? No that doesn't seem right." Staring at the wall he looked at each symbol as he assumed each one probably meant something of some sort. But that blank space confused him the most. It just didn't feel like it belonged there to Xilo. Walking towards one of the pictures Xilo tried to study it a little closer but even after looking at it for a couple of minutes nothing changed. Giving up a little with that approach he spoke up to Xelfia to see if she had any progress herself

"Any Ideas?"

"None…."

It seems this test might take a little bit longer then he had initially thought. Sighing he walked over to where Xelfia was by the Fang and Water picture and looked at himself to see if they could figure out anything together and maybe solve this test just a little bit faster.

"Maybe there's more to this then just the pictures?"

I will not be late tomorrow, I will not be late tomorrow. (Repeats it 100 times in head.) Yes a little late again today, I'm sorry.
