Moments Of Weakness

While Xilo was confronting Xelfia's sudden confession, a lone woman was resting her arms on the ledge of her window while leaning out of it staring at the fading daylight calmly without moving as it continued to fade from her sight as the stars started to brighten up the sky instead. Surrounded by stone walls and a plainly decorated room she was once again isolating herself from everyone and everything as she spent her alone time thinking as she did every once in a while. But what was different from the nights before was that she was thinking about a certain individual she had left behind in a remote area in hopes for his safe and potential growth. With a slight sigh a voice leaked from her lips that glistened in the star light.

"I wonder Number 5, How have you progressed so far?"

With no one to answer and no way of knowing yet all she could do was speculate for now on how it had been going so far. A part of her wanted it to go well of course because she had placed all her hopes on him but with her past experiences in mind she kept that as a faint hope that she didn't plan on relying on. Unfortunately he was her last chance and without him she would have to go in a different direction.

"Ironic, don't you think?"

In the past she had despised people whether friends or family that had relied on others to solve their problems or help but here she was a couple hundred years later doing that exact same thing. She hated everything about it but while it frustrated her greatly and caused her blood to boil she didn't have many options left. Even if it went against her principals, It was just that important.

"Maybe I was wrong after all. Mother what would you have done?."

*Crack*

Stopping herself from going down that line of thinking any further she crushed the stone that was under her from her frustration. "Me wrong? Even If I am, I'll just force it right." Getting over her doubts she sunk back into her quiet mood and stood there breathing quietly and peacefully until eventually that too was once again interrupted. But not from herself this time around. Instead it was from a knock on her door that caused it.

*Knock, Knock*

Grunting she knew her alone time was most likely done for the night. Turning around she quickly scanned the person on the side of the door to find two maids shaking slightly on the other side waiting for her to answer. "Ha..Time to deal with the trash I guess." Slightly fed up with such things she quickly flew open the door revealing to pretty women standing still from the sudden shock.

"Speak, What do you want."

With a tone that sent shivers down one's spine that brooked no questions she addressed the two standing at her door.

"U-h-uh, We were sent to i-i-nform you that the meeting will commence soon."

The First of the maids was the only one who had just barely enough courage to speak due to being used to dealing with her for a while. The second maid on the other hand silently sat by her side unable to speak up in her presence.

"Hmph, is that really all and if so why are there two of you?"

Taken aback by her reply the second maid winced while the first maid still barely continued to speak.

"She was sen-t-"

Before she was even able to finish her sentence a burst of Astral Energy escaped from her master's body and enveloped them whole and quickly killed the second maid beside her in a pile of blood while sending her flying back against the hallway wall while coughing blood.

*cough*

"Hmph, Don't allow for such trash to come with you next time or be sent by him again. There won't be a next time."

That icy tone awoke the maid from her stupor but she knew even if she was crippled at the moment she had to leave as soon as possible herself or else it would be her life next unfortunately. Learning from her past colleagues mistakes she was so far probably the longest maid to live staying under her master but at this rate it probably wouldn't be long until she died as well.

"So S-sorry Ma'am."

Ignoring her dead partner who no longer had a body left she quickly pushed herself up while bowing despite the pain and quickly ran away afterwards dreading the next time she would have to come back. Watching the maid run off she could finally take a breath of fresh air. "Well, That lent me vent a little at least." she didn't care too much for the reasons why she was sent but she did care who she was sent by and she had an idea of who would do such a thing. The anger at the thought of her father's continuous attempts at such things had resulted in her just killing them off from since the beginning. Even if he tried to disguise it she wasn't an idiot.

"Ugh, Maybe I was too hasty to ask her to leave?"

Looking at the blood that was plastered all over the ground she slightly regretted pushing the other maid away so fast because now she'd have to clean it herself. "This is the problem with killing people.I really need to get better at my technique." If she had more precise control over her strength maybe things like this wouldn't happen but that wasn't her speciality so there was nothing she could do at the end of the day. Ignoring the mess for now in hopes the maid from before would come back she started walking down the stairs towards the aforementioned meeting.

"Now, how am I going to deal with those other bastards?"

This was her least favourite time of the month because whenever it was everyone was forced to come back and report their progress and every time she was at a loss of what to do with nothing to show. Which meant she had to hear their annoying mockery for the next couple of hours until it was finally over.

"Thankfully, He's almost 18 soon. Just a couple more months to go, then I can see him once again. Haha, I can't wait."

Finding joy in the thought she confidently walked down the hall towards the meeting room.

Enjoy
