RE: Hephaestus

Life is all about second chances. Not in every single aspect, of course, but we’re often granted a “re-do” without even realizing it. The truth is, some of us are given a lot more but instead of being grateful, we feel entitled. We take people for granted and become hateful when they finally refuse to forgive our mistakes over and over again. We’re only human, right? Everyone makes mistakes at some point. But when someone decides to forgive you and gives you another chance, you should grab it with both hands — because you might not get a third one We’re only human? Second chances don’t come around often? Well, it’s funny you mention that… ————————— This, as you will eventually learn, is an AU

God Power Stuff. Divinity is neat.

Now that…is super fucking cool.

Looking up to see two gigantic creatures facing off against each other, one with darkness and one with light looks like something straight out of a movie.

My automaton would send slow, wide punches straight through the other giant monster, sending multiple splashes of liquid across the landscape, desecrating the surroundings.

The field winds are the first to raise their sound. Overtones of rippling grass, the trembling leaves, the branches broad of trees, all scream out at the force of the movements of the two giants.

I turn my attention back to Oizys just in time to see her radiating figure nearing me, fist cocked backward; I swiftly bring my arms up as her hand connects to them.

I am once again sent flying backward into a small boulder, golden ichor dripping down my head, blurting my eyesight.

I attempt to bring my arms back up, failing. I look down to see them down by my sides, limp with both having deep gashes in them; My armlet and gloves destroyed, parts spread around the ground.

I look back to Oizys to see sharp claws where her fingers should have been, holding what seems to be a long strain of muscle straight from my arm.

"THANKS FOR THE FOOD FOOD FOOD," she said before dropping my arms muscles straight into her mouth.

Desperately, I try once more to get my arms moving, only for them to start twitching and lifting barely an inch.

"DELICIOUS DELICIOUS DELICIOUS," she said with a face of pure ecstasy, "I NEED MORE MORE MORE," she continued, turning towards me.

A chill creeps up to me as I desperately try to make my arms reach my belt, just a single switch and I could fix my problem.

"COME TO ME ME ME!!!" she screamed.

Thankfully, I found the strength to push down on the switch as a strong, over-arching golden arm reaches out, striking Oizys across her face, followed by three more all barraging Oizys with powerful brunt attacks.

My four arms released from my back were an early but reliable invention that had many uses for grabbing thing around the room and making plenty of simple things much easier.

Hope rushes to me as I notice she was taken by surprise. So I continue to relentlessly release all that I could force at her.

The only response I received was Oizys, stood, taking every hit until everything became so worn down it just looked like I was doing more damage to my inventions than her.

A filthy look. A dirty stare. A condescending smirk.

A foot kicks. A fist swings. An elbow jabs.

No duck. No dodge.

"WHAT A PITY PITY PITY," I heard, but her mouth never moved, "I FEEL THE GRIEF OF MORE BEINGS OVER THERE THERE THERE," she continued, looking over in the direction of the small village.

"MORE FOOD FOOD FOOD,"

Oizys quickly bound me with her chains, focusing her divinity towards her hand, morphing it into a small blade.

I struggled with all my might, attempting to over power, melt or even explode the chains that released from her.

Nothing seemed to work.

"I SHOULD NEVER HAVE LISTENED TO THAT KNOWLEDGE OBSESSED BITCH BITCH BITCH. NO MATTER HOW MUCH TIME I WAITED YOU ARE STILL PATHETIC PATHETIC PATHETIC," She said, before thrusting her hand forwards.

I closed my eyes, waiting…and waiting…and waiting…but nothing happened.

I opened my eyes once more to see myself standing in front of Algaea in a familiar forest; One just a small walk away from the village.

Why am I back here?

Why am I with Algaea?

"You can't tell anyone about this okay?" I said, shocked as I had no control of what I was doing.

Algaea then proceeded to place an aster into my hair and asked with a small laugh, "Why?"

"It could ruin my reputation," I told her

"Ah. We wouldn't want that," She said back, smiling.

"Well, a fake reputation is all a God has," I said, still though, leaving the flower in my hair, willing it to not burn.

She laughed for a few moments before a comfortable silence tested itself upon the both of us.

We both then sat upon a long log; I set a fire in front of us, not needed, but it felt nicer with the crisp sound of the wood cracking under the majesty of the flame.

"How would you want to continue living your life Hephaestus?" She asked me.

"It depends on how you mean. Whether I would want to leave the island or continue living here?" She nodded in response to the nod.

"Well…there was something I saw at my early birth I would like to return to. It was something I thought I could improve but, well.…things happened," I said, knowing she wouldn't understand I was talking about what I saw when I was born.

"Well Heph. The things you see as imperfect most of the time look incredible to those like us," she said laughing.

I turned and looked at her, taking in her details like this for the second time.

"There are things I see as perfect too," I said, still staring at her.

Is this the so-called saying of your life flashing before your eyes? Truly, this is not how I would want to die again, not now that a new life as something greater had presented itself upon me.

"When you wake up…make sure not to fail," I heard a strange voice say from her body, not at all what she had said in return when this happened originally.

Suddenly, Algaea's body burst into flames and took the form of fire; The same as the thing I had seen in that white abyss.

It didn't seem like a raw tornado of fire anymore though…More like that of a person made of it.

"Give me food, and I will live," murmurs the figure.

"Give me water, and I will die," continues the embodiment of fire.

"You know who I am, for it is you who called out to me. To keep me by your side, you must speak my name," the modulating phrases curled pleasantly around my frigid ears.

With a heavy tongue, I command a single word, "Fire,"

"Then allow me to light you a spark of it," sighs the figure.

Suddenly, a glow begins to surround my body as the figure disappears. More and more of a glow permeates around me as I rise into the air.

Then, it all explodes outwards, the fire blinding my vision for a moment before it is relieved, revealing me to be at the same moment I was when I closed my eyes.

Oizys, who had me pinned down moments before, was sent flying away in a loud BOOM! blasting into the ground.

The chains that she had me bound in melted at the touch of my now molten-like skin.

"What is this?" I ask, looking around my body to see it cracked like a rock, lava flowing inside me instead of my ichor.

"This feels so…powerful,"

My head seemed to be released from a lifelong heavy burden I never realized I had. Inside of me, I began to understand how to properly use my powers…and the different ways they could be used.

My body explodes in an aura of fire and volcanoes that rumbles and destroys the ground around me. My body grows to be many more meters tall, a giant, powerful hammer forms in my hand.

"WHAT WHAT WHAT?!" Oizys screams, "HOW DID YOU DO THIS THIS THIS?! YOU KNEW HOW TO USE YOUR DIVINE FORM FORM FORM?!"

At the last moment of her opening her mouth, arm muscles shoot from her mouth, straight towards my body, sinking themselves into the aura near my chest.

"I do not fully understand myself…" I began, "However, I know this…I have grown from a man…to a GOD,"

"RAAAAHHHHH!!!" She screamed once again before launching herself towards me at a never seen speed.

A pure condensed stream of fire is blasted from my eyes, sending her flying straight back into the ground, causing a small crater where she landed.

Unfortunately, the power of my attack sent my very first automaton into a frenzy of malfunctions before melting from the heat left behind by my attack, followed by the giant monster which finally didn't regenerate under the might of my attack.

Oizys lay, stuck to the ground, unable to get up.

So just as to make sure she stays down, I raise my hammer as high as I could, before slamming it into the earth with a horrid BANG!

The ground strained under the impact before a large ravine formed itself, splitting the area connecting from where we were to the sea, spanning plenty of kilometres, causing an aftermath which looked like a gateway to the underworld itself.

"Rule #2, Double Tap," I said to myself with a grin.

….

Oizys' body continued to spasm into a horrific burning pain, no matter how she tried to snuff it out, it would just make itself reappear somewhere else on her body.

She needed to quickly escape before that MONSTER of a God had arrived to finish her off.

Looking up, she saw how the ground was split into two, the sun creeping over the edges before being consumed by the shadows.

This, however, quickly became more than that, it became dark.

Dark.

Not the comforting darkness of sweet slumber that her brother, Hypnos, or her mother, Nyx would promise.

Real dark.

The one that slowly consumes your very soul.

"MOTHER!" she cried desperately.

Tears continuously poured down her cheeks, "MOTHER PLEASE!!!"

No answer.

"MOTHER! BROTHERS! SISTERS! ANYBODY!!!" Oizys desperately called even more.

She didn't care if it alerted that 'Hephaestus' of her survival, she needed to escape as soon as possible.

'DISAPPOINTMENT' was the sound of a booming voice in her mind in the voice of her mother.

"NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!! MOTHER!!! JUST ONE MORE CHANCE!" She desperately pleaded.

'DISAPPOINTMENT' She heard once more, causing pain from the burn and her head to couple together

"mother…" Oizys muttered out once more, "I beg of you,"

She looked up to see a smaller form of Hephaestus' divine form, taking a step from the ravine, and began free falling towards her.

"Mother…MOTHER! MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER MOTHE- AUGHHH!!!" She screamed at the impact of the fire God landing a flying dropkick onto where her chains protected her chest.

"It seems like Columbus was slightly inaccurate," the God said, clutching her hair, burning it slightly, bringing her face to his, "You need more than two,"

"YOU BASTARD BASTARD BASTARD. MY MOTHER WILL-" She was cut off with a sharp punch to the gut.

"When you look in my eyes what do you see?" he asked her calmly.

At this, she decided to look.

She saw life.

Light.

Fire.

Ambition.

Most importantly, the feeling of being loved.

His eyes were so beautiful and expressive in this form, that waves of jealousy overcame Oizys for a moment.

She had always been alone.

She had never experienced loss because she'd never had a loved one to lose.

This fuelled her grief…but what is love grief in the face of somebody who had never truly experienced death or pain?

"I SEE A DEAD MAN WALKING WALKING WALKING," Oizys spat out venomously.

"Wrong answer," the God said before ripping the chains that had been with Oizys all her life, the only gift she had ever received from her father.

The chains which had been embedded into her skin so deeply were ripped from skin, open wounds desperately trying to close themselves at the will of a deity.

Unfortunately, the fire which originally had been assaulting at random positions on her back suddenly merged and covered the fresh wounds, preventing them from closing

A mark she would come to bear for the rest of her life.

"These will do me nicely," he commented, inspecting the chains, "I learned from this battle that I should use better materials…thank you Oizys…I have gained much from this fight," He said, tossing her onto the ground.

"You should never have tried to take this island from me. You have been served what you ordered," He told her.

"FOOLISH GOD," Oizys began, feeling her life fading, "YOU THINK I CAME HERE TO TAKE SUCH A PATHETIC PIECE OF LAND LAND LAND? ALL I NEEDED WAS YOU YOU YOU!!!"

"MY SIBLINGS WILL COME FOR YOU…AND WHEN THEY DO YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO ME ME ME!!!" Oizys bellowed, feeling only a few minutes left in her withering life.

"I TOO WILL SOON BE BACK BACK BACK. I HAVE CONNECTIONS, FRIENDS, AND ALLIES ALIKE ALIKE ALIKE. YOU HAVE NOTHING AND NOBODY NOBODY NOBODY!!!" Oizys revealed to him.

In her attempt to scare him, she only made him laugh more, "You said it yourself, no? I am a child of Hera. Do you think you can threaten this island with your allies? I'm sure you would never mutter such a threat to an Olympian?"

"NO NO NO. YOU WOULDN'T-!!!""Yes…" he interrupted me with a smile.

With one final blow, he snapped my neck with both of his hands to send me to my temporary banishment, dropping me to the ground as I heard his last words:

"It seems it is time for me to return home,"
