Ch 3: Commotion at the gate

The carriage drivers seems to hold an id card tapping on an orb hanged by the gate as the light turn green, they could pass but when it lit up as red they'll be ask to step down.

How do I know this, well im at the right side of the gate, on a line to get in. The gate is really huge and in order for one to get inside the city, one needs to cross the loooong bridge that connects the city to the plains

Hold up!!!

A sudden stop was heard from the guards checking the carriage side of the gate, everyone looked at the orbs colour but its green however something was amiss and the guards asked for the driver to come down.

Guard:

- Please come down for inspection

The driver couldn't looked straight to the guard and fidgeting as soon as he heard that he needed to come down.

Guard:

- didn't you hear what I just said!? Come down this instant!..

Two additional guards went toward the commotion and drew their weapons.

Then an additional guardsman came close towards the driver as he was signaled by the one inspecting the carriage to pull the driver out from his sit as he seems suspicious

Inside the carriage a lot of men wearing black robes can be seen and one of these guys is currently pressing his dagger at the drivers back, whispering to his ear behind the curtain to just go

- I told you to just ram them down before, we wouldn't be having this problem now, do we.. but its too late now old man move the carriage you damn old coot.

The driver was still hesitant seeing that he's already gathering the attention of the other guards however the people on robes could not delay this any longger and placed this matter at their own hands

A guy suddenly appeared from the back, angrily kicking the driver to the side of the carriage, one of the guardsman at the other side of the gate was able to react fast when he saw the angry man that kicked the driver has his side weapon drawn, in that moment he shot his arrow towards the guy in robe and a bloody colored number [ 763 ] was shown on top of the guy's head, and fell to the ground right after.

Everybody thought that was it and the guardsman received praises from the people that witnessed the scene. The guards laid their tension to rest and sheathed their weapon, nevertheless a looming danger from inside the carriage was about to cause havoc by the bridge.

One of the guards took a peak from the back of the carriage as he was curious to what they were carrying for the driver to look so anxious, but as soon as he saw what was inside, a sword's tip strucked his face, killing him instantly.

Everyone behind the carriage that saw the scene ran as fast as they possibly could back to the plains without looking back. As for the remaining people everyone are so engrossed to the scene and didnt thought that they would be in any danger after so no one ran away from it.

Caiz however just received a mail from the goddess and decided to read it while waiting for the scene to be over and didn't witnessed the guardsman face splitting in half

[Goddess:]

While Caiz was engrossed on his mail, A few men came out from this carriage and alot more came out from the other carriages behind it.

The bell rang as soon as the guardsman saw their comrade died and fell to the ground. The bell rang so loud the people in the city was alarmed and started to gather by the southern gate and Caiz was so focused even city wide alarm doesn't bugged him.

Five more guardsmen can be seen running from inside the city towards the ruckus with their weapons drawn.

Among the people who came out from the other carriages a humongous man with so much bravado can be seen spoke to everyone he's with

- Hahahahaha, I told you they are short in man power!!

- After all this commotion none of the usual knight have come, this city if our for the taking!!

- Now charge! Kill them all!!

All eight guardsman can be seen battling the people that acts like bandits with their lives on the line. The gap in prowess can be seen between the two forces and the guardsmen are being overpowered.

The people who gathered watching from inside the city tried to yell their throats out calling for the city knights but to no avail, none responded to their call.

Somewhere in the city, two individuals wearing metallic armors can be seen watching a futuristic screen floating above their heads, showing the event happening at the southern entrance.

Guy one:

- Finally some entertainment!

- I thought I'm about to die from boredom!

Guy two:

- Didn't I tell you!.. some will act upon seeing the cavalry leaving the city!

Guy one:

- You can sit this one out! They are mine..

Guy two:

- You and your big ego, your not the boss of me!

Guy one:

- How about this, a killing competition to whoever got less will clean the winners respected rooms for a week.

- What do you say! DEAL?

Guy two:

- Your on!!!

The two individuals hurriedly ran towards the southern gate, guy one, whistled and called his trusted companion and a gryphin flew to his location and grabbed his arm while the other guy input a command to his arm console as he jumped from his position and sat at his flying bike

The ruckus has gathered so much attention from the people inside as for the crowd watching the scene has scattered and moved far away and hid from the eyes of the bandits.

Caiz was flabbergasted as soon as he finished reading the mail, he couldn't believe that the praising and cheers a while back lead to few bodies on the floor and a quite number of men has emerged with their cold weapons out.

Bodies can be seen littered on the ground including the guardsmen and some bystanders. As for Caiz and the others, the adults have protected the only kid with them whose seems out of it and wouldn't move where he is currently standing, all five individuals have taken out their own respected weapons and tried to protect the kid.

Never the less when all hope seems lost, a whooshing sound can be heard from somewhere and then a rotating metallic shield flew towards the attackers halting their tracks, stopping their assault towards the 6 defending individuals.

One of the adults defending the kid, was the first to notice the change in the air and saw a shield hit everyone who stands in-front of them and mumbled a word

< Shield Boomerang... >

Caiz straight away got his attention and scour the surrounding for a person the shield belongs to, then a heavy armored figure can be seen riding a gryphin at the sky, flying to their location in order to get get his heavy shield back that he threw

Bandits at the front line, stopped at their tracks and started to shake from fear, heavy sweat can be seen rushed at their faces and knew that death is around the corner

- Ro.. royal guard!!!

Before the bandits could ran for their life the man on the gryphin raised his shield arm and focuses his mana thru his shield, making it glow in bright blue hue and said out the skill's name

< Shield chain! >

The royal guard threw his shield towards the bandits and five out of the eight died at their spot torn to pieces by the heavy shield.

Caiz Pov:

- damn, I thought for sure that I would have met my end right there, I was thankful that I could see one in person the glorious royal guard from the game ragnarok saved our asses.

The skill he used towards the attacking bandits is from the paladin class and the process of the skill before it was released was more detailed than how I see it from a phone screen.

As the man on the gryphin shout the skill's name and threw his shield to the bandits, the glowing shield instantly multiplied to five and directly hitting all five bandits at the same time. I didnt expect this at all becuase the skill shield chain from the game I played only hits one foe five times in a row in rapid succession but this time what the world guides told me was true after all, everything I knew before cannot be applied here anymore.

The crowd of bandits watching the scene from the back seems not troubled at all from a royal guards appearance. Three out of the eight bandits stood their grounds as soon as they heard their boss yelled that anyone who retreats will be struck down at their spot.

That very minute, two of the boss bandit's underlings took out what seems to be a rocket launcher hanging from their back and shot at the royal guard one after the other. Nonetheless the man on the gryphin saw what was about to happen and casted simultaneously a skill blocking the rockets, unbeknownst to him a third rocket was shot behind the second one and luckily from his back a gun shot was heard fired to the location where the third rocket is located. What came to view after the smoke cleared up was a guy on a flying bike with guns attached to it

Guy on flying bike:

- Didn't yah know I just saved your ass!!!

Royal guard:

- As if a rocket of that caliber could hurt me!

Other guy:

- You say I shouldn't have butted in and just gonna stand guard whether you fall to your death or not just because you have an inflated ego, is that it!?...

Royal guard:

- Shut up!!, why are you even late anyway?

Other guy:

- Hahaha! Funny you asked, I forgot to switch the power source on my babies to the new one or else I would have been first!

Royal guard:

- Yeah right!...

If one could hear the inner-thoughts of the royal guard, is that, he is astonished to hear that his buddy has finally completed a new power source for his project.

As the two people were engrossed deeply in their conversation the bandits had the time to rethink their strategy and took out more weapons from the carriage. The big guy at the back who seems to be the boss got a sawed off gatling gun and carried a box full of ammo behind his back as for his underlings they are also carrying heavy weaponry from rifles, shotgun to flame throwers.

The amount of weaponry they have brought doesn't fit the scenery with carriages and cold weapons, as if only weaponry had advanced and everything stayed the same.

As soon as Caiz and the other five people saw the bandits re-arming themselves with weaponry, all six of them sneakily moved away from the scene, as Caiz is a kid, he was grabbed by one of the adults and hid from the distance while watching who would stand victorious at the end.

The conversation was interupted by gun fire from the bandits and both person flying in the air was able to shield themselves from the incoming bullets.

The royal guard was able to defend only using his shield and for his companion the gryphin could control the wind to such a degree and able to change to bullets pathway. As for the guy on a flying bike we was flying around with great dexterity and able to dodge all the bullets aimed at him.

The lot of bandits saw this happening and some gave up on their guns and took back their own cold weapons instead.

- Hahahaha defend all you want, but we got bullet that would last for a long time

However luck was not at there side, most barrelled weapon has jammed, and the assault was interrupted abruptly. The flying bike fired its own guns lightly injuring the attackers as soon as he saw an opening, the royal guard activates his < Shield of Defence >, increasing his shields damage output and at the same time increasing his very own defence attributes and jumped away from his mount towards the centre of the bandits and simultaneously activating the skill < Earth Drive > critically injuring everyone that surrounds him.

A smirk was seen by the guy on the flying bike made by the royal guard and somehow pisses him off and pushed him to use another command in his arm console then jumped down from his bike to an open space and shouted

"< Summon >"

A set of markings and runic formation was seen around him formed glowed in blue hue and from it two additional machines flew out of it and he said < Combine >

The flying bike, a wheeled vehicle and a winged skate board flew to the sky in formation, a set of runic patterns also materialized and made the three machines conjoined into one. At the same time the guy that summoned this machines was also covered by this glowing runic patterns enclosing him inside of a glowing marble.

From then on as everyone heard the word "combine" the humanoid machine opened its chest cavity and the glowing marble where the guy was enclosed in got inserted inside and a machine half as tall as the gate came about.

As the humanoid robot fell from the sky towards the ground, the bridge didn't even shook even a tiny bit showing its natural durability in this type of scenarios. But the people on the ground didn't came out fine as they were thrown out from where they're standing, due to the shockwave the metallic humanoid released.

Holy pieces of walnuts, he did finished it! The royal guard seems happy in that commentary heard by the surrounding bandits whos life is already hanging on a thread but at the same time, he felt like he is going to lose on the bet they made.

Soon after the shockwave was released the metallic humanoid positioned its body sideways and as he raised its entire right arm up facing all of the bandits and the royal guard, a gathering of energy has already started and as every bandits saw the hand of the metallic man went inside the forearm a ball of light can be seen getting bigger by the second and a bright blinding light flashed at their eyes and the royal guard witnessing this at the same time placed his huge shield in-front of him and activates three skills one after the other < Fearless >, < Command of charge > and < King's Guardian > an orb of light with with 4 different hues continously swirling around him blocking everything what may come after.

As the blinding light spread its luminosity the guy inside the metallic man heard a faint voice saying "damn you, I'm still here" then a couple seconds after, everyone who is supposed to be standing with the royal guard has ceased to exist, their very existence was forcefully erased by the blinding light that was discharged.
