SUPERKID

It was a Saturday morning in Smart's lab and Team QuickBae was in the breakfast lounge trying to get breakfast. After eating, they headed back to base where they continued their research on all the super humans in Sterling city;

Kayleb: So guys, any new mission lately?

Dr Smart: I am afraid none

Kayleb: I see; it's been awfully quiet for some time now. No super human has committed any crimes after my encounter with Night crawler

Ali: Maybe they are just intimidated by you

Presh: Or they are just too scared to face you

Kayleb: You guys might be right, which is a good thing you know. Gives me time to work on my training more effectively

Dr Smart: I agree

As they kept talking, a man walked into Team QuickBae's base. He had on a red suit with a cape and a logo on his shirt which made the team suspect that he was also a superhero. The man then

introduced himself;

Kent: My name is Kent Norman and I am in need of your help!

Kayleb: Judging from your appearance, I say you are a super hero, am i right?

Kent: Affirmative. In the city where i fight against crime, I am known as SuperKid

Ali: No way! Is that Stanbic city?

Kent: So you know about my city

Ali: Who doesn't! I mean that is the city Quantum man used to protect before he retired

Presh: Who is Quantum man?

Ali: Only one of the coolest super heroes ever. He is like Superman but way cooler

Kent: Yeah, Quantum man is my uncle and like you said, he is retired now and that is why I am the new hero of Stanbic city

Ali: Yeah I heard about you. Isn't Stanbic city 150Km away from Sterling city?

Kent: Yes you are right, and I took the trouble of coming all the way here just for you guys to help me

Dr Smart: First of all, tell me how you found our secret base. I mean I ensured I made it much secured and very difficult to find

Kent: Yes, I must commend you on that though. You had even the satellites fooled about your secret location but I have x-ray vision which allows me see through objects including buildings. That is how I found your base. I am sure you all know the abilities of Quantum man

Ali: Yeah, I heard he has super strength, super speed, flight, heat vision and x-ray vision

Kent: Yes, he does. I also have the same abilities. My kind of species is different from you humans. I come from a distant

place known as Topia where people just like me lives. We are called Super humans. But due to certain circumstances, I was sent to Stanbic city when I was still an infant

Ali: Let me guess, Quantum man took care of you? You know,

since he is your uncle

Kent: Not really! I never met Quantum man actually. I found out later my home town and how I was related to him the day I discovered my abilities. I was actually adopted by a man named Abdul Yusuf

Kayleb: So tell me why do you need our help?

Kent: Ever since I discovered my abilities at the age of thirteen, I have been constantly chased by super humans like me from Topia. I came to realize that their goal is to capture me and take me back to my hometown, Topia

Presh: Why?

Kent: To extract my abilities. I later came to learn that their leader wants to use my skills for his evil deeds. Right now, I am

even been chased by one of my rivals by the name TP-29. He is a very strong Topian who has similar abilities as me except for flight and the fact that I can't get injured but he can. He has a strong titanium shield to make up for that though; he also has a special ability of acidifying anything he touches therefore melting it instantly

Dr Smart: This super human you speak of, can he also melt people?

Kent: I am afraid so

Kayleb: Then why would you lead him straight to us? Do you know the lives you are risking?

Kent: This rival of mine is far stronger than I am. Yes I have mastered my abilities but he is older than me making him more experienced. When I heard about the famous hero QuickBae of Sterling city, I had no other choice but to risk it and come straight to you for help

Kayleb: And what makes you think that I am QuickBae?

Kent: I can see your suit in the Lab Tech. department with my X- ray vision. Also when I first arrived in Sterling city, I wasn't sure where to start looking for you until I saw you one night speeding off after defeating that ninja in Finance bank to this Lab. I also followed you with my super speed and discovered your identity; I then waited for the right time to show up

Presh: If you have been in Sterling city for a while, why are you only revealing yourself to us now?

Kent: To be honest, I wasn't exactly sure if you guys would be willing to help me. But I had to try either way especially after sensing that TP-29 is almost in Sterling city searching for me

Kayleb: Very well, since you know my identity I guess I have no choice but to help you. But you would have to keep it a secret

Kent: I think I can handle that. Likewise my identity, you all have to keep it a secret. Back in Stanbic city, no one knows me as Kent Norman but Superkid except for my adopted father and now you guys

Ali: This is so awesome; Team QuickBae working with Stanbic city's hero, Superkid. Don't worry Kent; your secret is safe with

us

Dr Smart: So how do you suggest we stop this rival of yours especially when he is a risk to us?

Kent: Well QuickBae….

Kayleb: Call me Kayleb, Kayleb Malone and these two over here are my colleagues; Ali Mukky and Presh Zenom (pointing at both Ali and Presh simultaneously), then my boss; Dr Smart Wilson (pointing now at Smart)

Kent: (Nodding) as I was saying, Kayleb is a speedster like me but he seems to be quicker than I am. So I was thinking he

would comprehend all the enemies' attacks with his super speed because TP-29 is also faster than I am; and then, finding a weak spot which I can use against TP-29

Kayleb: Sounds like a good idea

Kent: (looking disturbed) I just sensed TP-29, he is in Sterling city already!

Presh: How are you able to tell?

Kent: We Topians have a way of sensing our kind

Ali: Then you guys better head to his location and stop him before he starts endangering our city

Dr Smart: Yes Kayleb, you have to stop him immediately. And also, be careful

Kayleb: I will

QuickBae then suited up instantly and both he and Kent dashed out of Smart's lab. Leading the way was SuperKid flying and QuickBae running swiftly behind him until they got to the location of TP-29 close to an abandoned factory;

TP-29: So tell me SuperKid, are you ready to give up and surrender yourself to me?

SuperKid: If I could defeat all the Topians that came before you, what makes you think that I am going to surrender to you?

TP-29: That's because you haven't faced a foe like me, I am way tougher than anyone you have ever had to face. Plus with my

melting abilities, i have an advantage over your friends here

QuickBae: Haven't you heard, I am the new deal in town

TP-29: QuickBae is your name right? I have heard so much about you. It's a shame that I would have to just melt you at the end of the day though, but don't worry I will make it swift and painless. After all, you are not the one I am after

After saying this, TP-29 moved quickly and was in front of QuickBae already trying to touch him with his acidified hands but QuickBae managed to dodge instantly. This had QuickBae a

bit worried because TP-29 was almost as fast as QuickBae so it was going to be difficult dodging his attacks;

TP-29: I see; you were able to dodge my attack just now! Not bad. But I just figured out something; you barely escaped that attack just now right?

QuickBae: You may be right. But it doesn't mean I can be taken down easily

SuperKid: And don't forget about me; your acid hands do not have any effect on my body so I suggest you worry less about

him and more on me

TP-29: Yes indeed, my hands won't work on you but I am still stronger. I will make sure I deal with you painfully and then, take you back to Topia, SuperKid

SuperKid: Listen up QuickBae; I will distract him while you look for his weak spot

QuickBae: (close to SuperKid) sure, SuperKid!

SuperKid and TP-29 then charged at each other and clashed, holding each other's hands. After dragging for about ten seconds, TP-29 punched SuperKid in the stomach which caused him to bend thereby giving TP-29 the chance to hit SuperKid in the back. The thrust from the hit had a lot of impact that it scattered the soil when SuperKid landed on the ground. All this happened swiftly but it wasn't something QuickBae couldn't comprehend with his hyper motility. Kayleb then figured TP-29's weak spot, it was his left arm. He had an injury there which prevented him from using his abilities effectively. To make up for this, TP-29 used his right hand more often. QuickBae then devised a plan which was; to shoot TP-29 with a new skill he was working on {the spark

burst}, on the right hand to prevent him from using his abilities even less effectively, which should give superkid a fighting chance of beating him. QuickBae then started compressing the sparks generated by his body. As SuperKid noticed what QuickBae was doing, he

understood immediately what Kayleb's plan was and got back up swiftly to continue fighting TP-29;

TP-29: Just give up; you can't beat me (punching SuperKid)

SuperKid: (stopping TP-29's punches) I told you before, I will never surrender to the likes of you. Besides, it's already over for you

TP-29: What do you mean by that?

SuperKid: (smiling) you were so focused on beating me that you didn't even realize that QuickBae was planning your defeat

TP-20: What! (In shock now realizing that QuickBae was ready to shoot the spark burst)

SuperKid: Too late (catching TP-29 by the right arm and putting it in the direction of QuickBae's blast) Now QuickBae!

QuickBae: You've got it! (Releasing the spark burst which hit TP-29's right arm)

The Spark burst was filled with immense energy which weakened TP-29 after hitting him; making him fall. The immense energy also damaged TP-29's hands and some of his other limbs, preventing him from ever using his abilities again;

SuperKid: It's over now

SuperKid and QuickBae then headed back to the lab with TP-29; it was another mission completed successfully. SuperKid was later set on leaving Sterling city; he thanked Team QuickBae for

all their help and support in defeating TP-29 and promised that whenever Team QuickBae needed his help with anything, he would be at their beacon call. Thus a new alliance was formed between SuperKid and Team QuickBae. SuperKid then left Sterling city and headed back to Stanbic city with TP-29. When he got back to Stanbic city, he detained TP-29 along with the other Topians he had defeated in the past in a special confinement cell he had made for containing super humans like him. Not just that, this cell also suppresses Super human's abilities. SuperKid then went home to his dad

and after hearing the whole story, Abdul was just glad that Kent made it back home safely and unharmed.

Meanwhile back in Smart's Lab, Team QuickBae was celebrating their newly formed alliance with Kent but Kayleb wasn't happy;

Ali: What's wrong bro, you don't seem excited

Kayleb: Earlier today when I used my spark burst, my intent was just to weaken TP-29 a bit so that Kent would have a fighting chance against him but instead I damaged his hands permanently

Dr Smart: That is why I told you, you need more training on how to control your abilities

Kayleb: You are right. But one thing is certain, I am never using the spark burst again!
