I’m The Protagonist?! 5.2

As the elevator door closed Cheng Xiu rubbed the back of his head while looking at her apologetically.

"Sorry for the antics of our friends Feng Shi. They can be quite something at times" He apologized helplessly but Feng Shi just shook her head.

"Aren't you use to it by now?" She chuckled leaning on the wall while Cheng Xiu also smiled shacking his head remembering all of their silly antics.

"Yeah, they can be quite something" He readily agreed to that.

"So... You and your father... Are you two always like that?" Cheng Xiu could not help asking before he realized how tackles and rude that question was.

"Sorry I shouldn't have asked" He immediately took back his question but Feng Shi just shook her head.

Aside from that first time where her emotions took over her, she had managed to control herself by now. And to be honest, it wasn't actually her who have experienced the struggles that the previous host have faced. She is only here to set things right for her as payment.

"Honestly, it doesn't even bother me that much anymore. But yeah... I guess we have not been as close as we used to be" That was the understatement of the year but Cheng Xiu did not asked farther.

They both let the silence engulf them but there were no awkwardness. It was just a pleasant moment of quiet as they waited for the elevators descent.

"Ding"

Feng Shi immediately stood properly as they reached the parking lot. It did not take long to find the silver car his father usually favored.

"I'll be seeing you tomorrow in school then?" Cheng Xiu asked as he put her things inside the car.

Feng Shi smiled and nodded. "Yeah, you're going to have to help me catch up to what I missed though". She responded with a grin making Cheng Xiu chuckle before winking contrivingly.

"Don't worry, my notes are always open" He joked knowing that Feng Shi prefers working for things rather than taking a short cut.

"Careful now, I might just take you up for that offer" Feng Shi rolled along.

Cheng Xiu smiled brightly at her before ruffling her hair fondly. "Take care of yourself Little Shi. I'll see you tomorrow. And don't worry, you didn't miss match. I'll send you my notes tonight"

Feng Shi nodded before waving at Cheng Xiu. She watched as he entered his own car and waved at her for the last time before driving.

When Cheng Xiu was out of view and that no one was around anymore. Her smile immediately faded.

It's not like she don't enjoy their company. Don't get her wrong she enjoys Cheng Xiu's presence at least. She also finds the people she meets to be interesting.

But, the thing is, the joyful, cheerful, girl they know is the previous host. That's just not who she is.

''She doesn't even know who she is'' she thought grimly.

"Whoo" Xiao Wang called out softly going to her shoulder and licking her cheeks affectionately. He doesn't know how to comfort his master on that regard so he could only act cute. This always cheer her up.

Xiao Wang rolled to her arms and showed her tummy to her doing his best to act cute making Feng Shi smile.

"Whoo" Xiao Wang howled wagging his tail happily knowing he had accomplished his own tiny mission.

Feng Shi cuddled Xiao Wang lovingly stroking his soft fluffy fur. "Good pup" she praised which end pleased him even more.

Feng Shi went inside the car and waited patiently playing with Xiao Wang to pass the time.

She laughed softly as she teased the small pup on her lap tickling the sensitive part's of his ears.

She did stop when Feng Bao appeared from the elevator. She knows that she can't let her own prejudiced mess with her mission. She is not here to live a free life. She is here to work on getting her memories back and healing her soul.

"Do you have everything here now?" Feng Bao asked upon entering the car, checking if she had somehow left something inside the hospital.

"Yeah" she answered which surprised Feng Bao as it lacks the coldness she had always help towards him.

A small smile could not help forming on his face before he smothered it away. Perhaps their relationship is not that hopeless after all.

"Here" He handed her a plastic bag containing two bottles of medicine.

Feng Shi took the plastic bag confused. She is sure that he had no need for any medicine though. Her confusion must have been seen through her face because Feng Bao immediately cleared it up.

"It's some vitamins that your Doctor recommended for you. He said that you where lacking some nutritions. These can supplement them" He answered before checking the mirror which gave Feng Shi a view of one the pictures he treasures dearly.

"You still have this?" She asked astonished as the previous host thought that he had stopped caring about her and her mother but based on how well preserved the picture was and how worn the color, she can deduced that he must have brushed the picture a lot.

"You were so full of boundless energy then" He commented wistfully.

Feng Shi refrained from making any sarcastic comment and just nodded. "I was just a child" she said instead.

"You know, it's been a years since we had a family picnic. How about we have one next weekend. Just the two of us of course" Feng Bao immediately added the last part before she could reject his offer.

"I would like that" she replied as Feng Shi, the previous host that is, would really love that. She had always wanted to have one with her father before but could not bring herself to ask.

"Good, I'll have Lan... Right, he went to the country side. Don't worry I'll make sure that it would be just like before. Only, without your mother. But it would still be fun." Feng Bao assured her and Feng Shi smiled at him for that.

"She would love to see us getting along again." She responded wistfully. Her mother had always been head strong and stubborn when it comes to things but when it came to her family, she was always a loving mother and wife.

The host admired her mother the most for always being strong and yet soft at the same time.

"She would love to see that very much after beating me up for how long it took that is" Feng Bao tried to lighten the mood up.

"I guess you're not entirely at fault there. She would have busted our eardrums by the time we got to our picnic." She giggled making Feng Bao smile freely. He had forgotten how long he had let himself smile.
