I’m The Protagonist?! 13

After the awkward breakfast, her days went on as usual.

Currently, she is sitting by what she and Cheng Xiu have deemed as their table in the library.

This is after all, where they usually sit together as he teaches her.

They sat close to each other, her head leaning on his shoulder as Cheng Xiu holds the book with one hand while the other rest on the table occasionally flipping the pages.

It was peaceful with no other noise than the flipping of paper and rustle of fabric.

Their friends have been rather supportive of them studying together or as they dubbed it, going to their study date.

She smiled in amusement remembering the girls teasing looks and the boys' suggestive expressions. They all push Cheng Xiu to her before going on their own double date, laughing or giggling as they walked away.

The previous host, despite her misfortune towards her family, sure was lucky enough to have friends like them. Supportive but not pushy. Maybe, some of the progress in the host's mental state can even be credited to them.

She also wonders if perhaps she also has friends like them in her own world.

She came back to reality when Cheng Xiu flicked her forehead.

"Ow!" She pouted, rubbing her forehead despite it not even hurting.

"Pay attention, Feng Shi. You're the one who wanted to learn this" He scolded softly, eyes doting and ever so gentle.

"I was listening" She complained before sticking her tongue out childishly making Cheng Xiu heave an exasperated sigh.

"Alright, then can you tell where I left off?" He smirked expecting her to not be able to answer but Feng Shi inwardly rolled her eyes at such an easy challenge before directly pointing at the exact sentence that he had stopped.

"Told you I was listening" she smirk while Cheng Xiu was slightly impressed since he knew that her mind was elsewhere when he glanced at her from the corner of his eyes.

He underestimates her too much. Just because she was thinking of something doesn't mean that she was not listening.

No, far from that, her vigilance has never been down. Not after knowing that there may also be other transmigrators in this world.

She is certain that it isn't Cheng Xiu though. She has tested him, sounding him out if she can tell who she is, who she was to him. Unfortunately this only lead to confusion.

There are just subconscious reactions from her that would sometimes baffle even herself.

Seeing that she was paying attention, Cheng Xiu continued reading, pausing at some parts to explain things to her.

Feng Shi simply hummed at his explanation or asked questions herself for Cheng Xiu to elaborate, making sure that she understands before moving on.

Despite how boring this can be, they did not find it bothersome and simply just enjoying each other's presence as one tries to learn while the other taught. This is how they always spend time with each other here. And even if it's just something mundane, for Cheng Xiu, it is the best part of his day.

With just him and her, nothing else exist.

Too bad some trash is about to make a stink in this beautiful yet leisurely time.

Feng Shi heard the clicking of footsteps, she raised her head and look at the source of that sound since no one ever come close to their area.

Her eyes narrowed as her face darkens when she noticed who was making those clicks.

It seems that she hasn't given up yet. Good, it would be so boring if she just backs down just like that. Feng Shi leaned on her desk posture elegant and poise, head raised and tilted slightly. Her gaze turned devious as her lips curled at one side. Show me what you got, Feng Hai.

Feng Hai immediately noticed her challenging gaze making her falter a bit before glaring at Feng Shi with a sneer. Her gaze swept Feng Shi in a taunting way before it trailed off to Cheng Xiu who is still unaware of the current silent fight between the two girls.

She wouldn't dare! Feng Shi did not outwardly react as Feng Hai threw a provocative smirk at her before unbuttoning the first upper buttons of her blouse showing off her cleavage.

It appears that she had already came prepared. Her face all dolled up and hair well styled with curls and clips.

She knows that her innocent act would no longer be effective so she has to improvise.

Her mother has already given her tips on how to catch a man's attention. If she can have Cheng Xiu as her boyfriend, she would be the most envied girl in school. Not to mention the fact that he is also charming and the heir of the Cheng’s. Taking him from Feng Shi would just be a bonus.

She swayed her hips lightly before sitting on the table right beside Cheng Xiu. Using one arm as a support, she looked at coyly. "Hey, Cheng Xiu. I'm sorry about the misunderstanding last time. I hope that we can maybe start over?" Feng Hai asked batting her lashes as Cheng Xiu looked up.

No boy could resist a beautiful girl, no one could ever resist her. Feng Hai smirked proudly in her mind. There is no way that Cheng Xiu would choose a loser like Feng Shi over her.

However, her confidence falter when Cheng Xiu's gentle expression morphed into confusion and then disgust.

Cheng Xiu slightly moved away from Feng Hai as if repulsed before frowning at her outfit. "Miss Feng Hai, I know that you are new here but please button up your clothes. Our academy has a strict dress code and how you are currently wearing them is a violation of that." The way that Cheng Xiu said it was polite but it was no less offensive towards Feng Hai who was trying to seduce him.

She looked at him with jaws slack as no one have ever rebuked her for doing this before. All the other boys have always encouraged this and become so easy to manipulate.

"As part of the school council, it is within my responsibility to give you a warning in your record but since you are new here, I will let it slip. But please do remember that you are no longer in another country. Our school expects its students to dress with respect for themselves. This is a respectable institution, Miss Feng Hai not the red light district" Cheng Xiu continued making Feng Shi laugh hard in her mind but it would be out of her character to laugh at Feng Hai. She did not manage to hide her snicker though making Feng Hai's face darkened even more.

Feng Shi was amazed at how Cheng Xiu managed to politely insult Feng Hai. She didn’t know that he had it in him.

Behind Cheng Xiu's back though, Feng Shi was looking at Feng Hai with mockery and ridicule, her lips arching in a dark smirk.

Feng Hai did not give up easily this time though.

Her eyes widened in shock before she pouted her lips. Big charming eyes filled up with tears threatening to full. Her entire demeanor would make anyone's heart soften slightly.

"I- I'm sorry if I offended you somehow. I am trying to adjust here but it's just too hard and-" She hiccuped, her expression would make anyone's heart feel like being squeezed.

Feng Shi noticed that Cheng Xiu's face started showing guilt and Feng Hai noticed that she was about to make her move and she could not risk it. Secretly glaring at Feng Shi for a fraction of a second, she focused on Cheng Xiu again"I'm sorry for bothering you guys" She apologized with an expression full of hurt and shame before leaving in a rush.

Feng Shi was not angry or even threatened as Feng Hai had expected though. No, Feng Shi smiled deviously gazing at the way that Feng Hai had left, like a predator looking at the traces of her prey.

She is rather pleased that Feng Hai did not disappoint her, she did not fail her expectation at all.

Feng Shi is not afraid of danger. She is just cautious enough not to be considered foolish. Instead, she rather enjoys playing with fire and this time, she is careful not to be burned again but is her enemies ready?

They have no idea of the devil in slumber waiting to awaken deep within her. Darkness even the current here have yet to comprehend.
