They ate dinner, which was made out of Ou Lingyi's favorites again, together with Bu Lihui and Fang Rui, chatting about casual topics. Without informing the two men about the truth behind the case - that is, Pi Enshu being the killer, and Guan Zanzan (or whatever his name was) being a witness - they asked lighthearted questions about all the past tenants they were acquainted with, Pi Enshu, as well as their current landlord, Hou Mei. They were trying to find out whether any of them might know anything about the killings. The men were a bit too young to be witnesses… But then again, they didn't know when exactly Pi Enshu's days of serial killing had ended.
Still, there didn't seem to be any signs they might have been aware of what had happened. As a result, both Bu Lihui and Fang Rui were crossed out from the list of potential witnesses, at least temporarily.
