Queen of The Empire

Amirah, calm down. I'm nervous, I feel the eyes of adoration and hate with every step I take. I must stay composed, I cannot mess up. I hear the people cheering and trumpets blazing. Then a loud voice, "Everyone silence. We are here today to honor and celebrate the coronation of our new queen,her highness, the shining sun of the Teric Empire, queen Amirah Ti Afia". I steel myself and take a deep breath before I speak. "Citizens of the Teric Empire, as the new Queen I will make sure that Teric stands tall and proud. Nobody shall dare go against for we are the powerful warriors of the Teric Empire". I get nervous as a pause of silence overtakes the capital, but my worries quickly fade as everyone kneels down and shouts "Long live the Queen".

As the cheers start to die down I walk to my study with my attendant Tobi and my lady in waiting taniyah. After what felt like years of walking I finally get to the study. I immediately take a seat at my desk, close my breath and release a big sigh. "What's wrong your majesty" asks taniyah with a worried look. I sit up and quickly reassure her that I'm fine. "Taniyah, could bring me some tea to calm my mind" "right away your majesty" and she leaves the room. I sit there exhausted and look up at Tobi who seems to be looking through some papers, then he raises his head and are eyes meet. I suddenly get a feeling that he's about to say something tiresome. At that moment he walks over to me and drops a stack of papers onto my desk. "Tobi what is all this?" He takes a moment and then says "These are different candidates for a possible husband". I start to get huffy, he knows that I don't want a husband... at least not yet. Nevertheless I start to look through the papers tossing them to the side until one catches my eye. "Aster Verris... isn't this the illegitimate son of Duke Verris?" "Yes your majesty, although he does have the blood of a commoner he is still a leading figure of one of the noble factions that opposes you, so if you can get him on our side then you position with be fortified greatly". After taking a minute to think Amirah looks at Tobi with a smile, "Tobi, fetch me some paper and a pen".
