Even If Survived

The soil felt moist beneath her heels. The air was mixed with the fragrance of damp earth as the mild night breezes slightly chilled her bones.

There were cold swooshes by her ears as she walked opposite the directions of the wind and began to climb the wet stairs up the hill. Mei Xing paused and looked around. It was extremely quiet in the cemetery as a gust of wind blew and the rushed dripping of raindrops on the leaves could be heard.

At the peak, she saw a faint silhouette of a man standing with his shoulder towards stairs as he stood there gazing at the distant city lights on a far horizon, Mei Xing's eyes shone with delight and her legs took pace. She hastened on the stairs eager to meet her lover.

'Please, Lord! No more surprises.' She murmured to herself.

Hurriedly, Mei Xing's steps speed up, her heels clicking while hastening and climbing on the stairs. She couldn't wait to see him. Her lips curled up, she felt her heart smiling like an idiot.

Swoosh...

Mei Xing abruptly stopped.

Amidst of mild winds, she felt a shockwave like something brushed, passed right by her sides.

Within that fraction of a second, she heard a striking yet faint sound of something hitting a tree trunk as if an arrow was hit. Her brows frowned deeply and she turned sharply in that direction.

Was it?

She wasn't sure as her ears didn't hear it clearly when the noise caused by the giggling leaves with the strong wind was more intense and noisy.

She stood there like a statue. Too bad she can't see that far away in a dark cloudy night. For a while she stood there pointedly gazing at her left side from where she heard the sound, shortly Mei Xing turned to take a look on the opposite side.

With narrowed eyes, she tried to examine her surroundings discreetly but the trees were dense and dark with the dim street light only on the right side of the rough stairs.

A deep frown befalls on her head. 'Was that really? Could it be...' Then the next moment, she shook her head and paused her hesitant line of thoughts.

'No. No overthinking.' Forget it! Might be some nighty creatures.

Still out of old habit she stood motionless. Inspecting for a while, then took a deep breath before proceeding towards her destination right up at the hill.

Surrounded by a mysterious air, her heart began to thump loudly.

Earlier, She wasn't a bit scared while passing through the lonesome cemetery in a remote place then why she is to be scared of nocturnal animals.

Is Zhang Han wants to scare her as he often chooses the lonesome places to romance near this graveyard? Weirdo! but what was weirder for her was the fact that she felt compelled to follow her lover even if it means going through hell to fulfill his request.

So this how the heart's emotions make a fool out of the reasoning of the mind. She chuckled.

Nearing towards the man in the dark, she was exhausted while breathing heavily.

It's been months since she had a long run on stairs.

"Z-Zhang Han?" She breathes out his name gently trying to catch her short breaths and naturally slowing the pace.

From a distance when she almost saw the man's outline and instantly she felt amiss. The realization has just drawn into awareness and actions just as the man was about to turn around to show his face.

Woosh...! a wind piercing sounds like a bullet traveling with lightning speed before Mei Xing could seize the situation and move.

Zoop...a sharp bullet pierced her skull right in between her brows.

"Gotcha!" behind the scene, a man with thrilled eyes sneered releasing his finger from the trigger of the quietest sniper rifle.

" Wh...?"A throbbing pain engulfed Mei-Xing.

Her vision blurred with blood, unfocused. Hot blood overspread on her features dyeing the lovely face of the girl even before she could see the man's features.

Within a few seconds, a dead body fell on the wet ground with a loud thump!

Sparkling with a golden hue, the man's eyes shone under dim street light and an victoriously evil smirk towed at the corner of his lips. Pulling a cigarate with his teeth, he flicked his other wirst to lit it. The slight shake in his fingers depicted the thrilled he had witnessing the awaited gore scene.

Slowly, he walked towards the fallen and took his good time to staring at the girl. Her eyes dyed in crimson were wide open with flash no life. A bullet bored between her thin brows looks like a hole drilled.

Mystified, he went to sit down on his heels to take a closer look las if mesmerized. Her haunting yet beautiful but stoned eyes reminded him of something...no reminded of someone very particular.

"Damn! She was lucky before," a blonde-haired man said after coming out of hiding. A heavy load of a gun on his right shoulder as he said confidently "...otherwise, she won't be able to reach the peak, my Lord."

But the person he was speaking to was entirely lost in a baffling dazed of past loving memories of his lover.

At the same timestamp, in busy city life outside the Hospital, a black Maybach with a high speed rushed through the emergency gate of VIP.

Almost everything was prepared beforehand, possibly the best team of Doctors was gathered who awaits the VIP patient. The car's door opened a specialist nurse rushed forward to support while cautiously handling the bleeding body on the stretcher leading it to the operation room.

Hours passed on, outside the operation theatre, a horrified man stared at the huge white doors that were shut close. He glanced at the operating red alert above the door's crest and his face turned pale with fright.

If anything...If anything close to...happened to her...No! He stood up and anxiously started pacing in the corridors.

Meanwhile, inside the operation theatre, a twenty-year-old girl's lifeless body lay on the operating table as the Doctor's team working their best to save her life. She had lost a lot of blood...

Beep.....beep!

The machine gave a warning.

Being warned, the doctors tried to restrain. The waving lifeline on the patient's monitoring system moderately began to stretch flat. Profusely sweating, Doctor's attempted to stabilize the patient but missed.

beeps.....!Their breaths hitched. In the frightful silent ward, only the endless and eternal beep could be heard.

"DEAD!?" Utterly disappointed, the assisstant Doctor called.

The three professional Doctors looked at each other and after a few exchanges of the words and checked before confirming with a nod.

Dejectedly, they turn to leave while the nurse switched off the focusing light on the dead body and the girl's pale face with a sheet. Whereas, Doctors were removing their gloves and discussing the cause of death in hush tones.

At such a moment, suddenly, the dead body jolted and slumped back sucking a long breath. The cloth heaved on her chest and face with her shallow breathing.

Beep, beep,...Breaking the silence, the patient's monitoring system gained a distinct beeping sound of the patient's heartbeat. The lifeline began to wobble again onscreen.

Astonished by hearing the pulse rate, everyone turned back and hurriedly got back to operate.

Outside the White Door, the man stopped pacing and turned."Second Master Lu," bowing her head deeply a lady in her late twenties greeted the man, who was pacing mindlessly.

Lu Junhui turned over his expressions dark as he asked in a heavy tone. "How did this happen? How!?"

Instantly, The Manager's expression changed, she didn't dare to delay to justify herself anymore, " S-Second Master, It was an accident.",

" After the party, as usual, I dropped Li Na to the Villa. In rush, she forgot her cellphone on the backseat. I noticed when a message came in. I wasn't that far from Villa. So to return the phone I went back." the manager felt a huge lump in her throat as the tears of anxieties flooded.

"But...when I reached the residence none of the servants was there. The doors were also opened. So, I enter and knock on her room's door, the door opened slightly a-and I saw..." the lady started to cry while speaking. " I-I j-just saw her back and-and she was holding the gun on her temples. I rushed in to snatch the gun..." She covered the sniffling face filled with catastrophe.

"...Li Na fought back."

Suicide!

Li Na attempted suicide.

Lu Jun-Hui's eyes widened in shock. What was she thinking? Does she really wants to die that badly! then bitterness spread over him as he listened the lady."I-I pulled the gun forcefully...t-to stop her... I pushed. But... blood... She was bleeding, I-I d-don't know h-how she..." the lady was shocked herself to explain the scenario slumped on her knees crying profusely.

Irritated, Lu Junhui waved his hand for the bodyguard to take away the kneeling woman. Taking deep breaths, he wiped off the sweat from his brow as he presses a few buttons on his phone urgently while cursing the woman."Stupid! Stupid! Stupid girl! This is nonsense! Utter nonsense... I have to tell, Brother." he said while gritting his teeth.

She really made Lu Junhui call his brother for her.'Even if she survived, surely she'll be dead after this.'
