Establishing A Working Relationship

Tony was already 50 meters away when Jace looked up.

'Sigh, this blockhead can't see a deal when it is put right under his nose!'

Running to catch up, Jace caught Tony's arm spinning him around and dropping him in the middle of the field.

"Hey, come with me! I can get you a good start. Coins, gear, skills, whatever you need."

At Jace's comment Tony didn't seem to budge.

Rolling her eyes she sighed at little more obviously.

"It only makes sense. No one is going to help you, don't die out of pride!"

It really was a likely possibility most transmigrators die in the first few days. Some of it is stupidity, but most of it is that a lot can happen. Thieves, starvation, and monster attacks are only a short list.

"Your right, okay, I will come with you. Where do you live?"

He said the right thing and then asked a question that phased Jace for a moment.

The truth was that she didn't have any money, gear, or skills, let alone a place to live.

But what she did have was some very expensive jewelry. She looked down at her hands. She wasn't a jewelry type of princess, but for the choosing ceremony she had consented to wear a few things worthy of a princess.

Now she was cursing herself wishing that she had worn some of her battle type jewelry. Instead everything on her currently was useless in a fight. Then again a pylon's power didn't mesh well with anything let alone combat gear.

In that way pylons were purists. They tended to break and bend any ties that bond them.

Again Jace remembered the words of that nettle queen in her head. There was only one exception, she could enslave herself.

Now that she had she was starting to feel of effects. It was pleasurable to win and because she was her own best slave she was currently experiencing a feedback loop. Her pleasure momentarily overwhelmed her.

Fortunately she had Tony by her side and she leaned on him a little for support.

Naturally he stiffened up a bit to keep her supported. It was very nice.

"Umm, ah, did you say where you lived? Hopefully you have a mother or some sisters around? Not to mention a husband? A father, brother, or uncle would do as well…"

He was trying to get rid of Jace.

Scolding herself for moving to fast Jace let go of his arm.

"Actually, I came through the same spatial event as you?"

"So, you are a transmigrator, too?"

Tony asked a little confused now.

"No, no, I don't have a system. I didn't cross dimensions so I wouldn't receive a gift like a system from a god. No."

Trying to be clear, Jace kept trying to explain more and more when it didn't look like he could accept what she was saying.

"Oh, well, I guess, well, we are in this together, then aren't we?"

He said uncertainly and more than a little bit hesitant.

'Score!'

To Jace this was halfway to consenting to work together.

"Yes, let's work together. If we support each other then we can get much farther together."

Since it was technically his idea she went with it and pushed for a conclusion.

"It would be nice to have a friend. And working together could be good…"

'He was almost there, so close!'

Thinking to herself something Jace decided to wait for him to commit on his own.

Tony looked around as if trying to see if there was anything in the area that could be used as a distraction.

She reached out and waved in front of his face as if to say, focus, I am right here.

Awkwardly he looked back into her eyes and they held that position for even longer. The intimacy of it was obviously creeping him out. His facial expression was priceless as he showed a bit of disgust.

"Fine, let's work together."

Holding out his hand to shake hers, Jace ignored the hand and directly stole a hug from him.

During these few minutes Jace's mind had been racing at a mile a minute. Her emotions were raging invisible under the surface.

Just because the bug god had presented this male who ticked all her physical need boxes and put a geas on her to literally become excited whenever she saw him didn't mean that her pylon lust and power went away.

It was the opposite. Her desire to gain power only grew. Only by continually using the feed back loop that the queen had taught her could she remain sane.

If she relaxed for a moment who knew what would happen. She would kill him for sure and probably devastate this region of the planet.

'But when I touched him again, just now, it became so much easier to focus. Until I can get more control I need him.'

It was irrational and silly when she thought about it. And at the same time it was completely hard cold logic.

'If I want to stay alive I need to keep this man in my back pocket.'

Have could probably have a lot of fun for a few minutes. Days at the most. But when the powers that be came, including other pylons she would be killed, slaughtered.

This was a hard cold fact. One way for a pylon to accelerate faster was to consume another pylon.

The problem is that most pylons die almost as soon as they are born. And currently among pylons she was a spring chicken ripe to be plucked and cooked.

"I have some jewelry. We can sell it in a marketplace."

She gave him a hint and like a good kid he picked up on it.

"Oh, that is a good idea! … Oh, wait, do you really want to sell your jewelry? Does it have sentimental memories or anything?"

Tony liked the idea at first but then held back a bit not wanting her to do something she didn't want to do.

"Oh, trust me, it will be good to get this dead weight off. If it does have any memories they are bad ones! Better to get some new memories."

She said and then laugh and disregarding propriety she directly grasped his arm and pressed her body up against his.

Relief flooded her and she could take a deep breath.

'That is much better!'

She just needed some human touch to be able to handle everything she had to deal with.
