Return

Chantel and her son Travis finally arrived home and were warmly welcomed by her parents who were very surprised to see their daughter back home. Apparently, they had not been informed of Chantel's return, hence their surprise.

Adiepena and Cynthia brought out their bags while Travis helped them.

"Cee, have you realised that our boy has grown a lot?"

"Oh auntie Adiepena. I am that old. I am still a kid," Travis replied shyly.

"Oh please. Just yesterday you were just a baby. But look at you now, you have become such a handsome young man," Cynthia added.

"Thank you, auntie." the boy smiled at them, revealing his boyish charm that looked exactly like Kevin.

Travis picked up his bag and went inside the house, leaving the two women behind.

"How come that boy look so much like his father?" Adiepena asked in awe.

"It's surprising. He has his eyes, his smile, his looks and even the way he talks is just like him. I wonder how Chantel felt anytime she looked at him. Well, then again, Travis is such a sweet boy. You can't ever get angry with him," Cynthia replied.

Chantel and her parents were already seated in the living room when Travis entered with his bag.

"Where are Cynthia and Adiepena?"

"They are bringing some of the bags inside. I just wanted to bring this in first then help them with the rest." Travis replied.

"Oh, how bad of me! Let me go out and help you guys. I should have done this a long time ago," Chantel said and jumped up.

Mr and Mrs Asare giggled. "It's been years but this girl still has the energy of a fifteen year old girl. I wonder how she does that," Mr Asare said.

"She is exactly like you. You still have energy, even if you feel old now," Mrs Asare said.

Mr Asare just smiled and held his wife who leaned in on him and held him as well.

"Do you think we did well to take her out of the country?" Mrs Asare asked, feeling a bit worried.

"Why do you ask that darling? Of course we did the right thing. You do remember how she was looking when I brought her to this house the day she called me she no longer wanted to be in that school."

"I remember it like it was just yesterday. She looked so depressed. That was the first time I saw my daughter look like she was about to completely break down. Thank God that did not happen. You know what, you are right. We did well to send her abroad, at least the change of environment did her some good," Mrs Philips replied again.

"Of course. And now that she is home, nothing will ever break her down. I believe my daughter and I know what she can do," Mr Asare relied.

Mrs Asare just laughed. Her husband could exaggerate sometimes so she took it as one of those times.

Chantel went out to help her friends to pack her bags into her room.

"Oh girls, I am so sorry for leaving you alone. I was so excited to meet my parents that I forgot about the bags. I am sorry again," she said.

"It's okay. Now that you are here, can you help us. You brought way too many bags. Did you buy the whole Canada on your way here?" Cynthia remarked ans Adiepena almost laughed.

Chantel and the girls packed all her bags into her room while Travis sent his to his new room. Travis had always had his own room ever since he was born so when he and he was told he was going to have his own room, he was ecstatic.

His room was huge and fancy. There was a huge bed in the middle of the room and a bedside table at each side of the bed. There was also a desk at the other side of the room and a TV placed on the wall. The room had been painted in a light shade of blue which made the room look very relaxing. He was very happy with his room and started jumping on the bed like a little boy as soon as he got in. When he was done jumping, he went downstairs to join his grandparents in the sitting room.

Chantel and the girls remained in her room. Chantel decided to stay in her old room which had been totally renovated to meet her new tastes. Even though she was now a grown up and a working mother, there were some things in her room she still kept in her room to make it more homely and lively.

She sat on the bed and looked around. She smiled and threw herself on her bed, while having a huge sigh.

"Thank God some things have not changed," she said happily.

"Anyway, Chantel, there is something we have to tell you." Cynthia announced. She was standing by the entrance with her hands folded.

"What is it?" Chantel could sense the worry in her voice so she sat up and looked at the girls.

Cynthia and Adiepena sat beside her on the bed. Cynthia looked down, not knowing if it was best for her to tell her friend what she was about to say. After taking a deep breath, she spoke again.

"Kevin came looking for you the day you left school. He wanted to speak with you and apologise to you but you were already gone."

"Kevin and I have nothing to say to each other. And I believe I made that clear. By the way, why are we talking about him?"

"It's just that ever since that day, he had been coming around school to find out if we had heard from you but we could not tell him anything because we know you would not want that. Chantel, I know Kevin made a mistake, but, why don't you forgive him?"

"Never, you hear me? Never! I will never forgive him for what he did to me. I trusted him. I trusted him so much and yet he was the first person to disappoint me. I won't forgive him ever," Chantel said angrily when she jumped out of bed, after hearing Kevin's name.
