Zhan Wei looked at Wang Jing in suprise, although he didn't really think much of what Wang Jing's request was going to be, but becoming a " Dao Protector ".

A Dao Protector wasn't as simple as she made it to seem, a Dao Protector was someone who protected another on the road of cultivation, it wasn't as simple as an ordinary guard.

Zhan Wei being Wang Jing's Dao Protector meant she wanted him to accompany her , guide her, protect her.

A Dao Protector was a title, a position, an honour, It wasn't really something with an end in sight, he didn't know Wang Jing's cultivation level but that didn't make him think she was weak.

The more some things seemed ordinary the more dangerous it was.

Zhan Wei took another spirit grape from the crystal bowl and ate it.

" interesting !", his curiousity was real piqued, Wang Jing really had a way of grabbing his attention.

Even if there was going to be one, who should be the Dao Protector of who.

Zhan Wei looked towards Wang Jing and asked with a smile on his face, " Why ! ".

He really couldn't fathom her thoughts.

Wang Jing answered, " I want to keep you by my side ".

Wang Jing knew with someone like Zhan Wei, the best way was to be direct especially when her request was a bit too much for someone like him.

First off, Zhan Wei wasn't as strong as her.

it wasn't an issue of talent, it wasn't just as simple as that, it was an issue of accumulation, experience, exposure and resources.

With the wealth of the Wang Family, Wang Jing has had access to the best of cultivation resources money could buy and her talent was anything to scoff at.

she had also had more time to accumulate strength, she was older after all, Zhan Wei was just a kid and he had started her qi cultivation way later than most of his peers and Wang Jing wasn't his peer.

Even if Zhan Wei was far stronger than she was, she knew he still wouldn't do it , being a Dao Protector was long term commitment.

Wang Jing smiled as she said, " You don't really need to do much, every month I would pay you corresponding to your cultivation realm and using my position in the treasure pavilion I would give you access to purchase rare cultivation resources ".

Wang Jing continued, " In return we will maintain communication and anytime I need your presence you must be available, of course I won't call you abruptly, apart from that you are free to do as you please ".

Zhan Wei didn't say anything, he just lay on the couch as he ate spirit fruits.

He really considered Wang Jing's offer, just the fact he would be able to purchase cultivation resources was enough for him to consider.

For example look at the spirit fruit he was eating, it was far better to a cultivation session using the basic qi condensation technique.

He wasn't getting it free but the fact he could access this kind of things and more was a good deal.

He didn't know what was Wang Jing's plan but since it suited him and he wasn't restricted, he didn't care.

Zhan Wei was a very decisive person since he had already agreed in his mind, he told her, " Ok , do you need me to sign a binding contract or an oath ".

A Dao Protector was someone in charge of another's life, it was a position of trust.

Zhan Wei felt since they were relatively strangers there had to be some sort of agreement or binding of some sort for the other party to feel safe.

Yet unexpectedly Wang Jing shook her head, " it's ok, I just need your word ".

Zhan Wei looked at her and smiled, " You have my word ".

After leaving Wang Jing's suite Zhan Wei went to his room, the spirit fruits he had eaten had turn to a large stream of qi in his body, he had to quickly cultivate and refine that stream of qi.

It wasn't till the next day he was done refining it.

Zhan Wei felt if he had access to more of these spirit fruits, even with his low talent within a week he would have opened all earth meridians, even the heaven meridian also know as the spirit sensing meridian and the hardest to open could be opened by him in a while.

Zhan Wei was satisfied with his progress, in just one day he had opened three more of his extraordinary meridians " the earth meridians".

Zhan Wei felt even if his talent was low, with enough resources he could still reduce the gap between he and his peers.

Stretching his limbs, Zhan Wei freshened up, after cultivating for hours he planned on relaxing and breakfast, he couldn't miss breakfast.

Leaving his room, he knocked on Xia Yunzi's and they left for the dining hall together.

As they walked, Zhan Wei looked at the vast waters that stretched far across his eyes could see.

They had been on the spirit boat for the past six months and based on what he knew, they should arrive in the Canglan continent in another months time.

After months on sea, everyone was eager to arrive on the Canglan continent.

Zhan Wei felt Xia Yunzi was unusually quite today, even when they were eating she hardly touched her food and probably because Yunzi didn't eat much he also lost his appetite.

After a while they left the dining hall back to their rooms, this time Zhan Wei followed Xia Yunzi into hers.

Unlike his which was just ordinary, Xia Yunzi's room was sweet smelling and fragrant, bright sunlight entered through the window giving it a golden glow.

The rooms on the spirit boat weren't that big but Xia Yunzi made hers feel large, every space counted and it was simple and elegant.

Entering the room Xia Yunzi just lay on her bed and said nothing.

The true was Xia Yunzi's mood bothered him and he didn't know what to do, what to say.

Her purple eyes, although there was no tears in them he could feel pain.

So many thoughts flashed through his mind as at why she could be this way, her parents, her family, her home.

It wasn't that Zhan Wei didn't feel all this thoughts too, he just kept them suppressed, he just reminded himself to be strong for himself, for Xia Yunzi.

Zhan Wei always looked forward, he didn't forget the past, he looked back on it, his pains, his joys, his life and learned from it.

Concerning Xia Yunzi, Zhan Wei didn't really know how to describe his feelings still she was all he had left.

Presently he knew Xia Yunzi wasn't happy, he wanted to comfort her yet he couldn't bring words out from his mouth.

Zhan Wei was still a kid, there were so many things he didn't understand, at just 14 years of age his life experiences weren't much.

he was more matured than a kid his age yet he was still a kid.

Standing from the chair he was sited on, Zhan Wei climb the bed and lay beside Xia Yunzi.

He wrapped his arms around her as he brought her towards himself.

Xia Yunzi shook as her body tensed from his shock, after a while she also wrapped her arms around him as she lay her head on his chest.

After a while , Zhan Wei asked, " Are you ok ? ".

Xia Yunzi smiled as she said, " I'm better ".

The rest of their journey was relatively normal and after a month they finally reached the Canglan continent.

The Canglan continent was huge, several times bigger the size of the Eastern region, It wasn't the biggest continent in the Azure Heaven world in terms of land mass but it was one of the most prosperous.

Home to various powerful sects, ancient families and factions, the Canglan was filled with legacies.

The Bright jade port was one of the major  ports connecting the Canglan continent to other regions and apart from the harbor where spirit boats docked, there was also a large port city.

The port was very majestic with two huge dragon carving archways at the entrance, symbolizing one's arrival to the Canglan continent.

The spirit boat docked and the passengers all came down, after seven months on the Vast Seas everyone especially the youths were happy leaving the spirit boat.

Zhan Wei smiled as he breathed in fresh air, the air on harbor brought with it the soul of a continent.

Life, vitality, vegetation, Zhan Wei could smell everything in that air.

it was that there wasn't fresh air on the Vast Seas but it smelt of sea water.

Zhan Wei and Xia Yunzi followed behind Ye Mo as they left the spirit boat.

Apart from bringing them to the Canglan Continent, Ye Mo had not really explained or said anything to them.

Where they were going to stay , what they were going to do in the Canglan Continent, they didn't know either.

The truth is Zhan Wei and Xia Yunzi didn't really know anything about anywhere apart from the Eastern region so they could only follow behind Ye Mo.

Since their families had left them in his charge, he was their guardian.

As they walked down the harbor, the usually quite Ye Mo started introducing the area to them.

The Canglan Continent was filled different powerful factions, Each faction controlled different strategic resources like spirit stone mines , secret realms, ports and so on based on their strength.

The Bright jade city was controlled by a city lord who was a member of the Mystic Heaven Sect, all those who weren't disciples of the Mystic Heaven Sect had to pay certain sum to enter, even spirit boats had to pay before being allowed to use the harbor.

At first he had expected the Bai Clan to cause them trouble when they got down but Ye Mo had told him not to worry.

The Bright jade city lord maintained law and order in the city, all those that payed the entrance fee into city were protected, unless through underhanded means, the Bai Clan wouldn't bother him openly.

The entrance fee per person was a thousand low grade stones, with thousands of people entering the Bright jade city every day, the Mystic Heaven Sect made a fortune daily from the port.

After paying three thousand spirit stones to the guards at the entrance Ye Mo led the kids as they entered the city.

As a port city that collected a large influx of people from different regions into the Canglan Continent, the bright jade was filled with all sorts of people yet it wasn't chaotic.

Although it was just a port city, the bright jade city was big almost the size of the Great Xia imperial city and it was just one of several port cities in the Canglan Continent.

The Bright jade city was divided into two parts, the inner city and the outer city.

Apart from the guards of the Bright Jade city and disciples of the Mystic Heaven Sect, the inner city was off bounds to others.

Due to the nature of the Bright jade City, there were a lot of inns for lodging, after walking around the outer city for a while they entered a large Inn.

Ye Mo paid for three rooms for a few days and they all entered their rooms.

Zhan Wei laid on the bed as he looked at the ceiling, going round the Bright jade city made him remember the imperial capital and the Eastern region.

Zhan Wei sighed, he was in an entirely new continent, from now on his life wasn't going to be the same.
