Chapter 9: The First Challenger Part-2

Laila POV:-

BOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the dust fills the whole field. We both anxiously wait for the dust to clear , and see our pokemon conditions.

Soon the dust goes away and we can see the Battle field clearly. On the field lies a fainted Voltrob and I look for my Murkrow , and I see him on the ground far away from Voltrob injured due to the explotion.

Seeing Voltrob knocked out Grandpa announces .

"Challenger's Second pokemon Voltrob is unable to battle please switch your pokemon you still have two chances left" Grandpa informs him.

"Okay Voltrob return" he returns his pokemon into his pokeball and takes out his third pokemon.

"Rest well Voltrob now go Sandslash" he releases his third pokemon.

"Since both participants are ready START!!!" yells grandpa.

"Quickly Sandslash use dig to hide ." Tony tells his pokemon.

'Not a clever move , if he hits Murkrow now he can take it out with one hit . But since I have a chance lets see' I think with a confused look.

"Murkrow fly into the sky and use Rooster and wait for Sandslash to show itself." with this half of my health gets healed , and I tell Murkrow.

"Okay Sandslash use Sand Strom" Tony tells his pokemon. Soon the whole Battle field is covered with sand and no one can see , except Sandslash due to its ability Sand Veil.

'Shit why does he always do that , always indirectly damaging Murkrow' I think furiously glaring at Tony. But using Sand Strom It decreases the visibility and reduce accuracy of Murkrow's attacks.

"Murkrow keep your eyes closed and try to hear where Sandslash is coming from." I tell Murkrow.

"Now Sandslash jump and use Swift" suddenly Sandslash appears behind Murkrow and lands a Swift.

"Murkrooooooooooow" cries my pokemon. Murkrow can't take any more hits and one more my pokemon will get knocked out.

"Murkrow hang on I know you can do this ." 'If this continues I have to use that move , otherwise Murkrow loses.' thinking this I make a hard decision .

"Now Sandslash jump and use Swift again" Tony yells excitedly thinking he won already.

"Not this time Murkrow use Perish Song" And Loud music comes from Murkrow's beak , with that Sandslash and Murkrow both faint.

"WHAT!!!!! why did Sandslash faint." Tony shouts with frustration.

"That's because of the move my Murkrow used 'Perish Song' it's a last ditch effort move where both the user and opponent pokemon faints and it can't be dodged . But be happy you took out my first pokemon"

"Both Gym leader's first pokemon Murkrow and Challengers third pokemon Sandslash are unable to battle please switch with your next pokemon." Grandpa referee's from the corner.

I return Murkrow to his pokeball and says "You did great job Murkrow" and take out my next pokemon.

"Okay come on out Umbreon" my starter pokemon comes out.

"Umbreon" softly yells after coming out.

"Whoa another pokemon I never saw" Tony confused again and scans Umbreon with his pokedex.

[Umbreon the Moonlight Pokémon . Umbreon is one of the many evolutions of Eevee Umbreon evolved as a result of exposure to the moon's waves. It hides silently in darkness and waits for its foes to make a move. The rings on its body glow when it leaps to attack.Umbreon has a sleek, black body with four slender legs and crimson eyes. It has two pairs of pointed teeth (one in the upper jaw and one in the lower jaw) which are visible when its mouth is open. It has long, pointed ears and a bushy tail, each with a yellow band around them. Its forehead and legs have yellow rings on them.

Its yellow markings glow at night or when it is excited, and strike fear into anyone nearby. It hides in the darkness while waiting for its opponents, and its yellow rings glow when it leaps to attack. It is also capable of spraying a poisonous sweat when it gets agitated. This Pokémon is rare in the wild, and is more often found in urban areas under the care of people.

Umbreon is a Pure Dark type pokemon it deals twice as much damage to Ghost/Psychic type pokemon and is weak against Fighting type pokemon]

"Oh wow it's an Eevee evolution I've never heard of it." Tony says in a amazed voice. Actually I too never heard of it until my Eevee evolved when we were in danger in a forest in Johto region.

"Okay this is my last pokemon better make it count come on out Charmeleon" Tony releases the starter pokemon second evolution of Kanto region.

"Caaaaarmeeeleooooon" roars Charmeleon.

"Nice Charmeleon you took great care of it." I say to him.

"Thanks , He is my first and starter pokemon So he is my strongest pokemon. And also we never lost a match." He tells me.

"Chaaaaaaaaaaaar" his Charmeleon roars in comformation.

"Okay now with both sides ready let the Match begin" My Grandpa yells from the side. So , now this became a battle between starter pokemon , now we have to win as we have more experience.

"Okay Umbreon use Screech" I shout to my pokemon.

"Um breeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeon" my pokemon screeches with eiree noice . This move reduces the opponents Defense very much.

"Okay buddy use Flamethrower on Umbreon" Tony commands his pokemon.

"Umbrean use Extreme speed and dodge then use Dark Pulse ." I command calmly.

Umbreon dodges the attacks with speed and before Charmeleon can conform where Umbreon is She comes in and blows a devastating Dark Pulse in Charmeleon's face.

"Charmeeeeeleoooooon" Charmeleon grunts and pain while skidding and rolling backwards.

"Charmeleon!!! don't give up , first use Smoke Screen and find a chance to land a Fire fang." Tony commands.

Listening to that I calmy command Umbreon.

"Umbreon before it uses Smoke Screen use Flash." And suddenly the field engulfs in a flash od bright light. It blinds Charmeleon , and now it can't see.

"No Charmeleon" Cries Tony loudly while his pokemon still walks around blindly.

"Okay , time to finish this match . Umbreon final move let's go use Hyper Beam." Umbreon sloly collects white energy in it's mouth and releases that devastating beam of energy onto Charmeleon as it slowly regains its sight only to be greated with this attack.

The Hyper Beam lands on it and smoke araises on impact from the field. After the smoke is gone , the field comes into view , and there lies Charmeleon Knocked out in a crte formed because of Hyper Beam's impact.

"The match ends with the victory going to Maiden's Peak Gym Leader Laila Sable." Grandpa announces.

Tony slowly crashes into the ground and gets depressed.

"Return Charmeleon . How did I lose???" He asks himself that softly wile crying a few tears.

"Great job Umbreon" I rise My pokemon and walk towards Tony.

"Good battle Tony. Although you lost it was not your fault , it was your first time battling a Dark type pokemon you ought to make a few minor mistakes , but you did not give up , that's the important part you strived with all your heart and tried your best . So , don't be sad train with your pokemon and challenge the gym again , I'll take you on any time." I say to Tony and encourage him with a few lines so won't be depressed. Part of being a gym leader is to encourage young pokemon trainers and lead them to the correct path so that they can overcome challenges in outside world and not give up easily.

"Yes !!! thank you very much , I'll challenge the gym again when I become more stronger and I'll win the badge for sure I promise." Tony clears his tears and promises me with a smile on his face.

I smile and tell him "Now that's what a young pokemon trainer should be like. so ,now go on And get your pokemon healed up in the Pokemon Center ."

"Right , I'll go now . Bye Ms. Laila and thank you very much" Tony thanks me and runs to the Pokemon center.

I too go to pokemon center to get my Murkrow healed up.
