Prologue

Cinnabar Island Port

A teen with short black hair and purplish pink eyes. He can be seen wearing a white karate gi with a brown belt.

He can be seen with a very tall man that has purple eyes and black hair. The tall man wears the same white karate gi but has a red belt.

The teen is around 5 '4 and has a lean body with strong muscles.

He is Ken, a martial artist during his past and present life. He used to be a martial artist from earth.

He was an avid pokemon fan. He first Discovered pokemon at seven. It was because of his friend that recently obtained a shiny riolu and told the whole class about it.

He told us about pokemon and its many mechanics like evolution, type advantages and abilities. He invited us to watch the anime together and I accepted since I lived nearby.

Watching the show, I saw so many fun and interesting pokemons. It showed one of my favorites Xerneas while his favorite was Yveltal.

He introduced me to the different games and we played the latest release of pokemon together. It was pokemon sword and shield and introduced our new favorite pokemon Kubfu and its evolution Urshifu. We both got an Kubfu and decided to evolve into different styles. He chose rapid strike since he loves speed while I chose single strike since I liked strength and power.

After we completed the game, we decided to fight each other. The battle ended with only our urshifu in critical health on the field while other other pokemons all fainted.

Our battle ended in a speed tie with only luck deciding who would win between us. My Urshifu managed to barely win and that was how I won our first of many battles. This started our rivalry and how we became best friends.

Later that same year, I turn Eight a few weeks after my rival. We were both having martial art lessons and practice together. He started wearing a red gi since it was his favorite color. He focus on this speed and flexibility while I focus of my strength and punches.

After we turned ten, we were already famous around our area as rising stars within the martial art community. We were often mistaken as each other since we share names to another famous duo in martial arts.

They were ken and Ryu from street fighters.

That's right, my best friend is Ryu, he is a blonde, and this favorite color is red.

Our nicknames within the community were Ryu the swift and Ken the Fist. We were one of the strongest in our age group at the area. People often mix up our names when they see us since street fighters was just that iconic in our area.

At twelve years old, Nintendo just released its latest game Pokémon scarlet and violet. We were both excited for the new game. We already heard of some of the new Pokémons and new evolutions. We even heard that one of the main legendary Pokémon of this region was a fighting type.

We just bought the game and was on our way back home excited to play the new game after receiving a break in the dojo and school. We suddenly encountered a wild armed assailant. We had 4 choices either fight, items, pokemon or run.

~Flashback~ Ken POV

The man has a knife and looks to be targeting us and waiting there for us. but before we could run we heard something fall behind us. When I looked behind I found that something large was blocking the alley.

We were both wearing our gi since we just came from the dojo so we were prepared to fight. I was just worried that there might be more people lurking around waiting to ambush us.

We prepared for battle and looked at each other. We looked at each other's eyes and nodded.

"Be careful there might be more people hiding nearby. try and immobilize or disarm him while I will act as a distraction."

I told Ryu quietly as we approached the man. I took the front to gain his focus and attention while Ryu hid and will use his speed to immobilize or disarm him to make this fighter easier and learn who is targeting us and why.

I was able to hit him once and started dodging his attacks while Ryu used this chance to kick him at the back of his leg but Ryu wasn't able to injure his leg enough to limit his mobility.

This kick managed to gain his attention for a few seconds but was already enough for me to deliver a devastating punch at the man. This punch manage to knock the man off his feet and made him fall to the floor. This also managed to knock off his knife away from the man.

We immediately took this chance to knock him out.

"Ryu can you call the police there maybe more lurking nearby"

Ryu nodded and took out his phone but frowned.

"Ken, there isn't any signal"

"Lets look around for signal remember to keep an eye out."

We found the area creepily silent and empty even though we regularly pass here on our way home from the dojo.

We finally found an area with signal and Ryu immediately called the police and started explaining what happened.
