Misty’s resolve 

2 years ago Misty received a female Magikarp from her farm that had the potential to evolve into Gyarados.

She took care of it along with her father for a year and a half and finally Magikarp evolved into Gyarados.

But Gyarados after evolution refused to listen to Misty. Pokemon who have a part of dragon bloodlines like the Charmander line and Gyarados have immense pride.

Gyarados after evolution didn't deem Misty worthy enough to command her unless Misty defeated her with a pokemon she raised alone.

Today is the day Misty challenges her Gyarados and deems herself worthy. Misty, Aoki, David, and others were standing near the lake behind their mansion.

Aoki glanced around the lake and found a Golduck, Blastoise, and Seadra swimming freely. He could not determine their rank as they were too far. There were some Magikarps swimming there too.

Misty's father David took out a Pokeball and released the Pokemon inside it.

Roar!!!

A 7m tall Gyarados towering over everyone appeared in the lake and roared releasing a loud roar. It looked like a monster that came to the surface from the depths of hell. All the Magikarps went inside the water while the rest of the pokemon didn't react much as if it was a daily occurrence.

Aoki felt an invisible pressure on him but nothing too severe to cause a problem. He realized that Gyarados used Intimidate. Intimidate is a character trait that delves fear into Pokemon and humans while lowering the attack of the Pokemon.

"No matter how many times I see it, I get scared every time, " said one of Misty's sisters.

It was Aoki's first time seeing a Gyarados.

'An intermediate rank Gyarados.

Even at intermediate rank, this Pokemon is terrifying.

No wonder people shit their pants seeing this Pokemon. '

Gyarados's menacing eyes glanced over everyone present there and finally stopped at Misty.

Misty stood on the edge of the lake and looked at Gyarados with determined eyes.

"Today I will make you acknowledge me Gyarados "

Gyarados gave another roar as if telling her to bring it on.

Misty took out a Pokeball and called out Staryu, her starter. The Pokeball on Aoki's belt opened and Clefairy came out of it and began cheering for Misty.

" Soo~ cute ~ " Daisy could not control herself and picked up Clefairy in her hands. Aoki knew that Celfairy liked cuddles so he left her to Misty's sisters for the moment and looked at the battle that was going to happen. David's sole focus was on her daughter and the Gyarados.

"Do you think she can win ?" asked Zenith coming close to Aoki.

" She will win. I can guarantee you that " said Aoki

"Staryu harden "

Staryu listened to Misty and started increasing her defense. Gyarados didn't wait and immediately started the rain dance, increasing the power behind water-type moves.

" Staryu rapid spin , get near Gyarados "

Staryu ejected water from all five ends of the stars and reached near Gyarados with rapid spin. Gyarados fired dragon rage at Staryu that was approaching her.

" Staryu protect "

A translucent shield appeared in front of Staryu and protected him.

" Now use confusion "

Psychic energy hammered the mind of Gyarados stunning him for second but dark type energy condensed into her fangs as he lunged at Staryu.

Pressured water ejected from Staryu's body, making him dodge the attack. Gyarados didn't give up and using aqua tail slammed Staryu into the water.

" Staryu recover "

Gyarados didn't want to give his opponent a chance and started using a twister which created a small tornado of dragon and water-type energy around Staryu.

" Staryu break out of twister with confusion and use swift "

Psychic-type energy burst out of Staryu erasing the twister, the gem on his front shinned and released a stream of small glowing stars at Gyarados.

Swift is a move that cannot be dodged but can be destroyed which Gyarados did by firing a hydro pump from his mouth.

Staryu and Gyarados kept clashing with each other, both of them were equal in terms of power so it was hard getting an edge over one another. Misty decided to use her ace move.

" We are ending this Staryu, full power thunderbolt! "

Electricity condensed around the gem of Staryu and fired at Gyarados. Due to having 4 times weakness to an electric type, Gyarados took massive damage but still resisted giving up and basted a hydro pump at Staryu.

" Staryu dodge and use thunderbolt again. You can do it, I believe in you! "

Electric Type energy and water type energy clashed creating an explosion.

" If her Staryu knew thunderbolt, why didn't she use it before, " said one of Misty's sisters.

"Misty acknowledges Gyarados and wants to give him a fair fight. She wants to show that her pokemon can fight on equal terms with Gyarados without using the type advantage move. Now that the objective was solved, Misty decided to end the battle, " said Aoki.

"Heh looks like you know our sister very well "

"Of course, I spent almost 2 months with her after all . " said Aoki.

David glanced at Aoki once and returned his gaze back to Misty. He could see a huge improvement in the command qualities of his daughter. ' Seems like traveling with this boy helped her after all '

The vapor from the explosion cleared and the figure of Staryu could be seen standing while Gyarados was floating with a pained expression.

" You did it Staryu …you can rest now " she called back Staryu into her Pokeball.

"Is this enough to prove that now I am worthy enough to command you Gyarados ? " asked Misty, going near the floating Gyarados and extending her hand.

Gyarados with her red eyes looked at Misty and extended her face to touch her hand.

It gave a low-pitched roar and closed her eyes from tiredness.

Meanwhile Misty sat on the ground panting, commanding a pokemon consumed a lot of mental power after all.

Clefairy jumped out of Daisy's embrace and danced around Misty and finally gave her a hug.

"Thank You Clefairy "

Everyone congratulated Misty while David called back Gyarados into the Pokeball.

"This belongs to you know, " he said, handing Misty the Pokeball of Gyarados.

He turned towards Aoki and said " Meet me at the gym tomorrow at 10 am " and left for his room.

Misty's sisters dragged her with them for a talk while showing Aoki an empty room to rest.

Lavender Town, Midnight

The clouds covered the moon bathing the entire town in darkness.

The entire town was surrounded by an eerie silence.

A group of people wearing black cloaks were standing near the Pokemon tower in a circle. At the center of the circle were dead bodies in a pool of blood whose limbs were cut off. Their blood flowed in such a way that it created a pattern in the circle.

"Today is the night….we all gain enlightenment…..with this sacrifice….our lord will give us what we desire. " one of them said as he raised both his hands.

Following his actions, all the others did the same and started to chant something in a language beyond common people.

The clouds that were surrounding the moon moved a bit making the moonlight fall on the circle full of blood.

Immediately after that fog started to arise from the ground surrounding the group of people. As the fog became denser, one of them fell to the ground followed by another.

"Do not panic, they are in the process of gaining enlightenment…."

The same thing kept repeating till all of them had fell to the ground never to wake up again. After a while, the fog slowly started to fade away leaving only a pile of bones.

Soon the clouds covered the moon again making the town covered in complete darkness.

In that darkness, a small pitch-black figure reached the site of the ritual and looked at the aftermath.

"Seems…like….it was…not enough….to break the seal...

Waiting….is the only…option left..." the figure muttered in a distorted voice before disappearing.
