Plotting

'This really changes the math'

Miraidon carried me through the air in it's Glide Mode, the electric horns that sparked from the side of it's head extending into physical safe-to-touch handlebars that I could use to steer it.

Rather thoughtfully, it also created an electric barrier that acted as a windshield, allowing me to sit comfortably on it's back.

The ground was easily a hundred feet beneath me, Miraidon currently acting as my own personal helicopter.

What baffled me the most was that it's jets weren't even active, the sheer momentum it could generate in a few seconds enough to blast through space, really proving that it was from the future.

'If Miraidon stays with me, I don't need to worry about losing a Pokemon Battle ever'

In the real world of competitive pokemon, Miraidon was already a nuclear warhead, with a kind of offensive toolkit that had never really been seen before, making it extremely powerful even in the midst of other legendary pokemon.

In Pokemon World though, the training wheels were completely taken off.

Miraidon kept "Hadron Engine", it's broken signature ability that set up Electric Terrain whenever a battle started, boosting it's Special ATK by a 33% and the power of all Electric moves by 33%.

Just like all Legendaries In Pokemon World, Miraidon also gained two additional abilities which made it even stronger. The first was "Static Aura", an ability that made all Electric Types moves it used have a 100% chance to inflict Paralysis when Electric Terrain was active.

This was crippling because paralysis had a chance to prevent a pokemon from making a move and it also reduced their speed down to 25%. Outside of the rigid game mechanics, this was effectively a death sentence to an enemy pokemon.

The icing on the cake was "Photon Shield", an ability which guaranteed that the first attack Miraidon received every battle would hit for 'Not Very Effective' damage, providing it with additional survivability.

'And as if that wasn't enough'

Miraidon also had a hidden ability that all Legendary Dragon Pokemon received, an ability called "Dragon Rage" that was arguably the most busted ability in the whole of Pokemon World.

The ability doubled Miraidon's highest stat when it's HP fell below 50%.

In this case of specifically, it's Speed and Special Attack were both increased since they were tied.

In the game version of Pokemon World, the existence of such a ridiculous Pokemon was somewhat justifiable as it was a Single Player Game and the player wouldn't be able to use Master Balls to catch it, needing to go through a long and arduous quest line which involved the player using their own Pokemon to defeat buffed Miraidon multiple times.

'And then there's the potential that it can Mega Evolve'

It was established in the lore of Pokemon World that Mega Evolution was a symptom of diet, training and friendship, custom Mega Evolutions existing for nearly every pokemon.

'The practical implications are also insane'

Beyond it's function in battles, Miraidon was also designed to be a vehicle, enabling relatively discrete air and sea travel at speeds which rivalled modern technology.

'My only problem is that I don't know how much authority I can exert over it'

It seemed that my soft and friendly approach was ultimately the best, as it obeyed me and followed my lead but I couldn't shake the suspicion that I was on a free trial.

It wasn't totally impossible for Miraidon to flip me over and throw me into the sea below.

'It seems to be pretty chill though'

In all honesty, I was a little confused by the mixed signals, surely if it wanted to be with me then it would just let me capture it.

'In any case, since I can control him, heading to the Institute immediately is probably the wisest move'

The Institute, in Pokemon World, was the scientific organization that connected all the various Professors across Regions. Their secret headquarters was based in Area Zero of the Paldea Region, operating extremely quietly, only a handful of non-researchers and developers knowing of it's existence.

'Heading there makes the most sense for a number of reasons'

The first was that Miraidon was an undiscovered Pokemon, the institute offering an Official Certificate of Discovery and 200,000 PokeDollars to any who could present/submit a new Pokemon for research.

The second was that over the course of the game, the Aether Foundation, a sub-division of the Institute gradually developed Wormhole Technology that enabled the player character access to different dimensions.

This narrative thread was how Ultra Beasts and Paradox Pokemon became accessible, a key plot point being how the technology to enable wormhole travel was actually present and functional, it was just that a strong enough power source was missing.

Over the course of the story, Giovanni gained awareness of the pain point and managed to win over some professors and researchers after he obtained a Regileki during his exploration of Ancient Ruins, bargaining it as a power source for their needs.

'There's also the issue of Primal Urshifu'

The developmental history of Pokemon World was a little foggy but it was established than in the distant past, the modern world was comparable to Past Paradox Dimensions, enabling the existence of past variants of present Pokemon.

Among them was a Past Variant of Urshifu that was involved in a ancient conflict between powerful legendary pokemon. Somehow during the course of the battle, Primal Urshifu was frozen, his current location in a deep underground cave in Area Zero.

'I can save a lot of people since the ice hasn't fully melted yet'

It was also handy that I had preserved my Master Ball.

If I was really pressed, I could sneak into the hidden production factory near Celadon but heading to the Institute and building a relationship with Miraidon took priority.

'I think they'll take me onboard as well'

Team Rocket and the Institute were the two major giants of the Pokemon World Universe, the two engaged in a technological arms race that shaped every facet of Pokemon World.

As somebody who had played the game and had the memories of a worker ant, I had a lot of useful inside information and considering the fact that I would give them access to Miraidon, there was no world where they would just let me go.

'That's also what I would prefer anyway'

Team Rocket were quite obviously the bad guys and the only reason I planned to stay with them was to be the best double agent possible, my goal ultimately to dethrone Giovanni and help the Institute absorb them.

'This is going to be a fun adventure'

Sorry I've been gone for a while
