S5E17: Dinner Talk

Thus everyone sat in silence eating no one wanting to be the first to break the silence other then the clanging of their silverware on the plates. It was to the point that finally with a sigh Foxx looked down at his feet before closing his eyes and setting his half eaten plate to the side.

"Mom, dad, I'm sorry it was wrong of me to snap at you like I did." sighed Foxx not making eye contact at all and just staring into the fire.

"No, son it's our fault for jumping in on your adventure and being nothing but trouble." sighed James as he set his plate aside and looked down with his head in his hands he then added, "It seems to be all we are really good at doing after all."

"Hay that's not true." replied Foxx placing a hand on Jame's shoulder before adding, "You didn't mess up on all of those times we fought side by side against your former criminal buddies or in getting married or in raising your pokemon."

"But we did fail in raising them since they always loose not to mention that we also failed in raising you." added Jesse as she also put her plate aside to look Foxx in the eyes. "Look me in the eyes and tell me I'm not wrong."

"You're wrong because though you may not win battles your pokemon love you and you love them, not to mention that they would do anything for you." replied Foxx, "As for me you did what you thought was best for me which is what it turned out to be. For if you kept me I would've only been given the same upbringing and brainwashing as you went through."

"That still doesn't mean we're not total failures." sighed James looking up at Foxx through tear stained eyes.

"You just haven't been given the right opportunities is all." replied Foxx with a smile.

"And who would ever give us one of those right opportunities with our past?" asked James, "I mean we're not the most trustworthy of people."

"Me." replied Foxx boldly. "In fact I was hoping that once I had finished this whole investigation into the G.S. Ball that I would set up a lab somewhere and that you'd come to work for me there."

"But what until then?" asked Jesse with a questioning glance.

"Simple for now travel with us to Twinleaf to meet Dawn's family, then you will return to Pallet Town and work along side of my Pa and as soon as I'm finished here I'll come find you before setting up a lab to work out of." replied Foxx

"What about me?" sadly asked Dawn trying to hold back the tears that were starting to form in her eyes.

"We go to Twinleaf Town and spend the week with your family before meeting back up with Ash and deciding where we go from there. You still have some time left traveling with Ash while I have some work left to do on my research and I may continue with you and Ash first before heading off to do that research we'll just cross that bridge when we get to it." explained Foxx with a smile before taking Dawn's hand in his own before adding, "We have a whole lot of living left to do before we settle down."

"Oh okay." replied Dawn as the perk and cheer returned to her she added, "Well let's finish our dinner and get to bed so we can be on our way first thing in the morning."

"I'm not sure if she's anxious to see her family or to ditch us so her and Foxx can be alone again." teased James with a smile.

"I mean aren't we just the best company ever?" teased Jesse with a smile as both her and James once more pick up their plates before she added, "This makes me almost want to take even longer to finish my meal."

"With food this good I'm just going to have to keep eating all night long." joked Foxx with a smile and a wink at Dawn.

"Aw, I think someone is trying to earn bonus points early on in their relationship. If one didn't know they'd think they had been a couple for years and were already married." chuckled James as he set his now empty plate aside and put an arm around Jesse.

"Next thing we know he'll be offering to do the dishes and wanting to sing her a song goodnight." added Jesse with a smile as she added her plate to James and leaned into his side.

"I'd tell you to go jump in a lake but unfortunately there isn't one near by, and I can't send you to your tent because you two wont be sharing a tent." huffed Foxx to which he realized his mistake too late as he received a glare from Dawn who had also crossed her arms.

"What's this about separate tents?" questioned Dawn as she gazed at Foxx with a near death stare.

"Well, um, me and my father figured it would be best if you and mom shared a tent while me and him shared a tent." defensively replied Foxx, "That way you can have a girls night while we have a guys night."

"This sounds like just another excuse to avoid sharing a tent with me." replied Dawn sticking out her bottom lip and letting it quiver ever so slightly in her best sad puppy dog face.

"Wait, you mean this whole trip you two haven't been sharing a tent?" confusingly asked Jesse and James together with a look of complete baffle on their faces.

"No, he's too much of a gentlemen to do so. It was hard enough to get him to share a hotel room in the last city." teased Dawn, "And he only did that because they were able to get a second bed."

"Hay maybe I'll just go and find a place all by myself to camp away from all of you haters." teased Foxx as he slowly got to his feet as if to leave only to pick up the plates to wash them with the help of eevee.
