S4E9: Island Challenge - Part Three

So after a nice well needed talk our gang is back at sea heading for the next island in the challenge, Trovita Island where they will be tasked with facing Rudy who will first test them before fighting each of them in same type pokemon battles yet first they have to get on the island which brings us to their awkward arrival where they were greeted by Rudy and his sister with their arms crossed watching them approach on the back of Foxx's Gyarados.

"Welcome to Trovita Island I'm Rudy the gym leader here or am I wrong to assume you're both here for the gym challenge?" asked Rudy as they came ashore and Foxx recalled his Gyarados.

"Yes and if possible can we both run the challenge at the same time?" asked Foxx.

"Unfortunately only the first part can be done at the same time for it is a target test and we can just run through it twice." replied Rudy with a grin, "As for the second part it will be a three on three same type pokemon battle best of three style."

"So we'll have to do those separate which is fine with me." replied Foxx with a grin before adding, "So lead the way to this target range so we can get this over with."

"Then right this way." replied Rudy with a smirk as he and his sister lead the way along the beach to a little boat and start to climb in only for him to add, "What you thought this would just be a simple target range. No you have to hit the targets while moving."

"I see in that case I'll just have to switch up my pokemon of choice?" replied Foxx as he got into the boat releasing Ralts to stand right next to him for he figured it would be best for him to go first. As for Silvia she got in behind them and just waited her turn.

Rudy just smiled as the boat took of down through this little canal and targets would drop randomly as they went and Foxx would pint them out to his Ralts who would fire of a round of razer leaf at them. This went until they'd reached the end of the course with Foxx not missing one single target. He then recalled Ralts while Rudy circled around back to the starting point of the course while it also rest itself.

Once back at the beginning Foxx took a seat while Silvia took the head of the boat with her Leafeon both nervous. Yet with a smile and nod of encouragement from Foxx Silvia focused and mange to only miss three targets as Leafeon did its best to hit them with a combination of razor leaf an vine whip. Yet it was still good enough for her to pass onto the next round of which they had to take a hot air balloon to get to and once there Foxx once more opted to go first.

With a smile Foxx and Rudy got out of the hot air balloon and waited for it to lift away out of range before Foxx tossed out his first pokeball releasing Ralts to which Rudy then sent out Eggcute. Thia was going to be a balanced battle since they are bth grass psychic pokemon.

"Ralts, Razerwhipe." called Foxx using a mental link through the collar he had given her in the boat to describe the move combo. Thus she released a chain of razor leaf and vine whip which really didn't phase it much as some of the attack missed as the eggcute danced out of the way but still wants able to dodge all of the moves.

Then with a grin Foxx mentally gave the order for Ralts to perform a psychic powered tackle. Now by this point she'd also caught onto the rhythm of her foe and timed he tackle just right to land it right in the chest with just enough force to send the eggcute sliding to the edge of the arena and almost right off the edge. Victory went to Foxx and they both recalled their pokemon.

Then Foxx sent out Joy's pokeball and first had to explain why it has been so long to which she forgave him for not having her out in the boat. Now Rudy was the one grinning as he sent out Ninetales thinking himself the greater and more powerful opponent. Yet Foxx still stood his ground for he knew this wasn't an equal match for both would be immune to fire attacks, while valuable to their opponent's psychic attacks, yet Foxx still ha an ace up his sleeve for Joy can also perform ice attacks.

"Our enemy will try to use its psychic abilities to predict our moves so let your mind wonder onto random things while you use combinations of physical and ice attacks. Avoid fire for just like you it will only increase it's powers." mentally explained Foxx with a nod towards Joy who let her mind wander into a very dark and lustful place that made the Ninetales' eyes go wide before having to shake its head in hopes of getting the thoughts out.

This was enough of a distraction that the Ninetales didn't even notice the icy furry swipe or frostbite or even the ice beam until it was too late which was also the point at which it staggered a bit before falling over in the middle of the arena to which Rudy just stared baffled before recalling his Ninetales while Foxx motioned for Joy to join him at his side while he searched for his next pokemon. Yet he'd forgot it was best out of three style and thus Rudy was crossing the arena to award him the badge.

"That last one was a cheap move using a vulpix that looks normal but uses ice attacks." called Rudy, "I should almost disqualify and make you go another round."

"To be honest Joy here is a fire Pokemon and we only just recently discovered that she can perform ice attacks, which helped to off set the power and hp advantage your ninetales had over it." explained Foxx, "Other then that they were well balanced it's fire and psychic abilities thus leaving me ice as the only option to defeating it. Well that and a good distraction which I'm almost afraid to figure out what thoughts Joy projected into your Ninetales' head, but if you wish I will go a third round if need be."

"No, I see now that you used strategy here and not cheating." sighed Rudy as he handed over the Spike Shell Badge.

Next up was Silvia and she too earned her badge but not as easily. First off her Jolteon lost to his Electrobuzz, while her Espeon defeated his Alakazam. This left her Vaporeon against his Starmie which was a close victory for her. So with them both now having the third badge of the the four within the Island challenge they were once more on their way. This time Kumquat Island to face off against Luana.
