"Well, that makes sense but Foxx, I sadly don't remember exactly which journal I had my notes about the G.S. Ball in. So I don't really know what you plan to do while I have one of my aids look for them." confessed Ivy with a sad expression as she started to eat her food.
"Well, Pa thinks I should give the Island Challenge a try but I don't have anyway to get from island to island." replied Foxx not really wanting to focus on battles but instead open to looking for the journals. "Besides I could always help you and your aids look."
"I think Professor Oak might have been on to something with the island challenge Foxx. I know you're focused on Pokeball research and all but you need to also make yourself known in order for people to take your research with any credit. I know un fair but sadly true." sighed Ivy with a smile.
"But Ive already collected all eight Kanto Gym Badges, half of the Johto Gym Badges and a select assortment from the other reasons." explained Foxx with a frown.
"I bet you'd just breeze right through these challenges then Foxx." flirtingly replied Silvia with a smile and a flutter of her eyelashes.
"Thanks, but still I'm not sure I want to take on every gym or island challenge I come across." confessed Foxx, "I just want to focus on my research."
"I understand what you're getting at Foxx, but keep in mind that sometime the answers we seek aren't always in the places where we want to seek them." replied Fantina, "Besides each region considers their gym leaders to be the best while other regional gym leaders are just okay."
"So you're saying before my work will ever be taken seriously I have to waste time collecting all of the gym badges for all of the regions." replied Foxx, "But what about the Battle of The Train Championship?"
"Well, that helps but even as one of it's champions even young Sam Oak still had to prove himself within the Kanto region before anyone would give him just the slightest of attention let alone concede giving him the rank of Poke Professor." explained Ivy, "I know it's not what you want to hear but it's the truth of our culture. Everyone is so focused on battling that breeder, professors and regular people who don't battle for a living are low class citizens unless they've proven themselves in battle."
"And Foxx if you want to become the first pokeball professor as well as the youngest professor then you're going to have to work hard and obtain all of the badges you can as quick as you can." added Fantina, "And that doesn't mean you have to drop all of your research and tackle the gym challenge. In fact the way you've done so far seems to be working well. Let your research take you to all of these places and if you're near a gym you've not beaten. Then challenge them."
"Well said Fantina." added Ivy with a smile, "In fact I have an idea. Foxx once you've completed the island challenge and obtained all four badges as well as faced off in the championship why don't you challenge Fantina here for her gym badge?"
"I don't know." confessed Foxx looking down at the little food that was left on his plate.
"I like the idea. Plus it will get you one step closer to your goal." replied Fantina, "Besides who would question your knowledge if you've acquired such a collection of badges in what a half of a year traveling with your Pokémon?"
"I see you're point and it's getting close to the one year mark. What better way to celebrate then to finish the island challenge and beat you." replied Foxx with a smile before more seriously adding, "But I will only do this as long as I get some time just to myself and my Pokémon afterwards to relax and do my research."
"I see no reason why not." replied Ivy with a smile.
As for Silvia she tried to hide a frown that he isn't wanting to give her any attention. Now Fantina caught on to this and with a grin looked at Ivy before asking, "Why don't you send Silvia with Foxx on the island challenge. I'll be here a while and can help you with whatever she would've been doing."
"She could use the experience with Pokémon and trainers alike. Not to mention the fresh air and time off could do her well. In fact I will loan her a team of six Pokémon to help her complete the challenge and in the end she can choose one of them to be hers to keep." replied Ivy with a smile before looking at Foxx and asking, "You don't mind if Silvia comes with you do you?"
"I'm not sure. I mean I don't have a problem with it but like I said Joy get's a little jealous yet it could do her some good having other trainers and Pokémon around her as well." replied Foxx with a smile before looking over at Silvia and realizing that he might have just made a great mistake because though he really missed Dawn how would she take it if she found out he was spending time with another girl their age.
"Good then it's settled, tomorrow morning you two will start the island challenge. You have one month to complete all for gyms before the championship takes place otherwise you'll have to wait a whole year for it." replied Ivy with a smile.
The rest of the evening was filled with small talk and even Silvia trying to flirt with Foxx a bit but in the end she smiled and wished him a good night. As for Joy well things didn't go as smoothly with her as he'd hoped and ended with her poking the button on her pokeball thus recalling herself back into her pokeball. This was her way of giving him the cold shoulder or just telling him she wasn't happy with him.
