The Awakened Guardian

The fog in the underground chamber grew thicker, making it difficult for Rael and Eira to see as the mysterious dark figure slowly began to move. The echo of the deep voice echoed off the cave walls, sending a chill through both of their bodies.

-We are not alone here... -Eira whispered, stepping back a few steps as the figure in the center stood fully erect.

Rael watched with narrowed eyes, trying to make out what or who was in front of them. The figure rose to its full height, covered in a layer of dark rock that made it appear to be part of the ground itself. A gleam of light in its eyes seemed to indicate that it was fully conscious, awake after years or perhaps centuries of sleep.

-Is it... A Pokémon? -Rael asked, trying to control his nervousness.

Eira didn't answer right away. Her eyes were fixed on the creature, which now began to slowly approach them. The mist enveloped its movements, making its form appear even more terrifying.

Suddenly, the voice was heard again, but this time more clearly, almost as if it were speaking directly into their minds.

-I have been awakened to protect this place.... You should not have entered.

Rael swallowed hard. This thing before them was more than an ordinary Pokémon; it seemed to be the guardian of this altar, charged with protecting the secrets of Mount Moon. With each step it took toward them, the ground trembled slightly, as if the mountain itself recognized its presence.

Eira took a step forward, determined.

-We don't want to fight. We didn't know what we were doing," she said, trying to calm the creature. We're just looking for the truth about what's going on.

The Pokémon paused for a moment, as if considering her words. The mist around it seemed to clear a bit, finally revealing its full form. It was a Golurk, an ancient Earth and Spirit-type Pokémon, gigantic and covered with inscriptions on its body that seemed to glow faintly. It was a creature built to protect, and they had accidentally awakened it.

-The truth is buried in this land.... But they are not worthy to know it," Golurk said, his voice echoing through the cave.

Rael knew that they were in danger. Even if they didn't want to face this guardian, they seemed to have no choice if they wanted to get out of there. He braced himself, one hand on Poliwag's Poké Ball, which had proven its worth in previous battles. Eira tensed as well, ready for whatever was needed.

-We have no choice," Rael whispered. If we don't fight, we won't get out of here.

Golurk raised a huge arm and brought it down hard on the ground, creating a seismic wave that rippled through the cavern. Rael barely managed to keep his balance, and Eira had to cling to a nearby rock to keep from falling.

-Now! -Rael shouted, "Poliwag, I choose you!

In a flash, Poliwag appeared before them, ready for battle. They knew that as a Water Pokémon, Poliwag had an advantage against Golurk's Earth-type attacks, but they also knew that a single hit from this huge creature could be devastating.

-Poliwag, use Bubble! -Rael ordered.

Poliwag launched a burst of bubbles directly at Golurk, hitting his stone body. Bubbles burst all around him, but Golurk hardly seemed to flinch. Instead, the guardian raised his arm and threw it at Poliwag with surprising speed for his size.

-Look out! -Rael shouted.

Poliwag narrowly avoided the attack, rolling to the ground and preparing for the next move. Golurk, wasting no time, hit the ground again, this time provoking an Earthquake attack that shook the entire chamber.

-Polywag, jump! -Rael ordered.

Poliwag jumped in time to avoid most of the damage, but Rael knew they couldn't dodge these attacks for long. Golurk was slow, but his every move was extremely dangerous.

Eira, seeing the situation, decided to intervene.

-Oddish, you go too! -she shouted, releasing Oddish.

Oddish appeared at his side, and both Pokémon now faced the giant Guardian. Although Poliwag had the type advantage, Rael and Eira knew they would need more than brute force to defeat Golurk.

-Oddish, use Drainers! -Eira ordered.

Oddish's vines launched themselves at Golurk, wrapping around his body and beginning to drain his energy bit by bit. Golurk paused for a moment, as if the draining vines were slowly weakening him, but it wasn't enough to stop him completely.

-Polywag, use the water cannon! -Rael shouted.

Poliwag launched a powerful jet of water that hit Golurk again. This time the attack was more effective thanks to Oddish's work, and Golurk began to retreat, weakened by the combined attacks.

But Golurk would not stop so easily. With a roar, he raised both arms and launched a powerful Shadow Fist attack. Two dark shadows burst from his arms and rushed towards Oddish and Poliwag.

-Get him! -Eira shouted, and both Poliwag and Oddish managed to dodge the attacks just in time.

Rael began to feel the pressure. He knew they were at a disadvantage, but he also knew they could not give up. Golurk was the keeper of a secret they had to discover, and to do that they had to defeat him.

-Oddish, Somnifer! -Eira commanded in despair.

Oddish threw the sleeping powder, which spread throughout the cave. The golden particles enveloped Golurk, and gradually the giant began to stagger, his movements slowing until he finally fell to his knees.

-We did it! -Eira said, looking at Rael with relief.

Golurk, though weakened, was still conscious. He slowly raised his head and looked at them.

-They showed their bravery... -Golurk said, his voice still echoing. Perhaps they are worthy to know the secret of Mount Moon.

Rael and Eira approached, keeping their guard up as Golurk pointed to the altar that still glowed faintly in the chamber.

-Within this altar lies an ancient power, sealed to protect the balance of the region. If it falls into the wrong hands, all of Kanto could be in danger," Golurk warned.

Rael and Eira exchanged glances as they realized the magnitude of their discovery. The Fossil Hunters were not just looking for the remains of ancient Pokémon, but for something far more dangerous. Something that could change the fate of the entire region if they were not stopped in time.

Golurk, visibly exhausted, slowly rose to his feet.

-I will protect this place until my energy runs out. But you... you must find these intruders. Stop them before they release what cannot be released.

Rael and Eira nodded, grateful for the Guardian's trust. They knew they must act quickly. The fate of Mount Moon, and perhaps Kanto, depended on it.
