Ch 54. Pokemon Migration

(Unedited)

Being caught up in a whirlpool, Ares, Lucario and Jenny were trapped in the middle as they were bing pulled to the depths of the sea. Returning Lucario and Shellder to their pokeballs, Ares and Jenny swam to the edge.

At the same time as they tried to break out of the strong vortex, they were swung around ferociously, the strength of the vortex pulling them down.

The scenery around them became blurry as they were pulled down to the depths of the sea. From above, Ares could see his Lapras diving towards them, but she was still too far to get them out of there.

Suddenly the Whirlpool stopped.

The force that had been pulling them down had subsided, disappearing all together.

Too soon to celebrate, Ares could sense the many presences around him, though his eyes couldn't see them in this darkness.

At this point, Lapras had arrived at his side. His and Jenny's items were there as well, now completely soaked but still secured tightly on Lapras's shell. Buzzing in excitement, Ares's rotom phone fought its way out of Ares's bag, shining a light on the surroundings.

What he saw left him in awe.

Illuminated in the all encompassing darkness was a huge amount of pokemon. He recognised a few, but there were also some he needed his rotom phone pokedex to recognize. They amounted in the hundreds to thousands. They were all swimming in a single direction, not one of them bothering the other as they continued onwards.

The sight was mesmerizing, as even the more rare pokemon, those that didn't even belong in the Kanto region were there.

Pokemon such as Milotic were swimming around, forming groups of three or four. It was an oddity to be sure, as they were generally only thought to inhabit lakes.

Then there were Dewgongs and Seels swimming around, closely following after one if not the most aggressive water-type pokemon around. Gyarados.

The big tyrant didn't seem to mind at all, as it occasionally looked backwards at the group, slowling down a bit if they fell behind.

The rare synergy of these pokemon was a once in a lifetime sighting.

Aside from just these few pokemon, there were also Seadra, Luvdisk, Fineon, Mantine, Sharpedo and even a pod of Wailord.

Even if Ares wanted to go back up, they were blocked by the many pokemon swimming above, around and below them.

Jenny was desperately tugging his arm, her face pale as she pointed downwards.

There, a big shadow was approaching them fast, it's size only dwarved by the giant pod of Wailord at their side.

Lapras he quickly grabbed Ares and Jenny, securing them safely on her shell as she tried to push her way upwards. The sharp blue eyes of the big creature was the only thing that was clear to them, as its approach had become faster.

Grasping Lapras's neck tightly, Ares and Jenny could feel the beast make contact, pushing them upwards as if they were being launched.

The surface was approaching fast, the shimmering of light on the water blinding them as they broke through, sailing through the air. They were only hovering for but a second before them plummeted back into the sea, splashing water all around them.

Panting heavily from the shock and adrenaline, Ares carefully checked around him, not seeing the unknown pokemon at all.

"Ares! Over there!"

Jenny pointed forwards, her other hand shading her eyes from the bright sun.

There in the distance he could see something disappear below the surface again, too soon to really recognize it.

"Wow. Just.... wow. That was amazing."

Jenny gasped, remembering again why they had been stuck in that situation in the first place. Fiddling around, she found the pokeball she had stuffed in her bikini top, taking out Shellder to see how the little guy was faring.

Shellder didn't seem too hurt, as it had only defended and had gotten tired. The Lanturn hadn't been attacking them seriously, as it only seemed pissed and not out for blood.

While Jenny was looking after her newly caught Shellder, Ares checked up on Lapras.

She had incased the hit for them, launching them all the way up to the surface.

Jumping down in the water, Ares looked her over from head to fin, only spotting a big but not too serious bruising on her stomach. It wasn't as bad as he had expected it to be. She should be healed in a day or two.

Jumping back on her shell, Ares gently caressed her head as he took out some berries from his bag.

"Thanks for the help, girl. You were incredible, getting to us so fast."

Lapras enjoyed the careening, leaning inward as she took the berries.

"Is she alright?"

Jenny had returned Shellder to its pokeball after a quick check up and had become a bit worried when she noticed Lapras was moving around too much.

"She's fine. She has a big bruise, but it looks worse than it is."

Ares confirmed, sitting down on Lapras's shell. They were also fortunate enough their bags and other items had been safely tied to Lapras. It would be a major loss should they have been lost. Checking up if he had everything, Ares sighed in relief. Everything was whee it should be and the pokemon egg was still whole and secure. With his greatest concern gone, Ares began to spread out his soaked clothes. At least they could dry a bit in the time they still had sunlight.

Taking a hint from that, Jenny took out her clothes out as well, both busying themselves with their own tasks. By the time they were done, the sun was already setting and they had prepared their food.

"Don't forget to call out Lucario. I'm sure he is worried."

Jenny reminded, grabbing a sausage and wolfing it down. She was famished after their little adventure. This was the time her fire pokemon were really helping out, as they could warm up any food they had.

Taking out Lucario's pokeball, Ares could feel it twitch around. Lucario was definitely worried. Before Ares could press the button, Lucario had already come out, looking around franticly, calming down when he saw Ares fine and in one piece.

Patting himself on the chest, clearly trying to unwind a bit after the scare, Lucario sat down at Ares's side, not moving an inch away. Despite Lucario's best attempts, it was clear as day he was still worried about Ares.

Not minding the closeness at all, Ares leaned against Lucario, feeling somewhat tired. Seeing his travel companion wolf down all the food, Ares chuckled slightly, as a soft jingle of the rotom phone caught his attention.

Rotom was buzzing around, trying to get his attention for a while now.

Seeing Ares finally pay attention to him, Rotom laughed erratically like only rotom's could. Grabbing Rotom to stop it from acting up too much, Ares was pleasantly surprised by the footage Rotom showed him.

It seems like Rotom liked the thrill very much, as it had been constantly filming the whole experience. The whole beginning of the pokemon migration was caught on film. Rotom could be heard on the background, a crackling laugh being heard every now and then as it liked the thrill. Especially Jenny's whitening palor and the rather big shadow closing in on them were caught quite clearly.

Even with the recordings, Ares hadn't seen a pokemon like it before, the figure still covertly hidden in the darkness.

"Thanks for filming this, Rotom. Appreciate it."

Rotom buzzed in pride as it returned to Ares's bag, getting an annoyed and angry yelp from Mew.

Having forgotten she had even been there, Ares raised his eyebrow questioningly as Mew's annoyed voice sounded. Her head, now being in the shape of a Ralts, was poking out of the bag, the pokemon egg firmly grasped in her tiny arms..

[Why is there always something going on when I'm in my pokeball? The bag is completely wet and the egg almost broke. Don't think for even a moment that I am going to sleep in there.]

Mew indignantly took her spot on his chest, patting it as if he was a cushion and lay down her head to once again doze off with the egg secured between Ares's arm and her own arms. Mew's casual demeanor completely defused the remaining tension. The only thing bothering him now was how he was going to explain to Jenny the sudden addition of a Ralts to his pokemon team, considering she had seen all of his pokemon.

Jenny seemed to have that exact question on her mind as she stared with wide eyes at him, her mouth opening and closing repeatedly.

"Don't even bother asking."

Ares yawned, resting his head on Lucario's shoulder as he dozed off.
