THE WAKE-UP Call

I was once so blind, so self-absorbed,

My thoughts consumed by my own reward.

My family's wealth had made me vain,

And I thought that life was just a game.

But my selfish ways led me astray,

And soon I found myself in disarray.

I ignored my father's wise advice,

And paid the price for my own vice.

My father's discipline grew harsh,

And I was left with just one task:

To mend my ways, to change my heart,

And from my selfishness depart.

Then came my mother's timely plea,

To beg forgiveness on bended knee,

To promise that I'd change my view,

And think of others, not just a few.

So now I stand here, humbled and contrite,

Aware of my actions and their blight.

I vow to live a selfless life,

And make amends for all my strife.

The wake-up call has finally come,

And I will no longer be so dumb.

I'll embrace a life that's good and true,

And show the world what I can do.
