Chapter Thirty Four

Madeline’s POV

(A few days later)

What does my cousin have to do with my boyfriend?

“Madeline! Eyes on the road, pay attention to your surroundings.”

In addition to taking defensive driving courses, I must also meet with my instructor to practice driving. That is, until I feel more comfortable and am not so much of a safety risk to myself and others.

Others being Andrew. Or my mother.

There really is no one else who cares about me.

“CAREFUL- careful. Alright, that’s it just- slow down slow- yeah okay.”

This is not my first lesson and I must say, my instructor has absolutely no mercy.

Each turn, each swerve my instructor raises their voice and critiques my technique. Everything seems familiar, after all, I’m relearning this skill not driving for the first time.

“Check the rearview mirror… all clear? Okay, go ahead and- yup, you got it.”

Why is there noone else? Did I really not have any other friends?
