Chapter 40: The Strongest Archfiend

"My turn!" Yuyu exclaimed as he drew a card from the deck. "I summon from my hand, 'Elemental Hero - 'Blazeman'!"

The blazing hero from the previous game made his triumphant return. As he landed on the field, he struck a superhero landing pose, and a circle of translucent flames erupted beneath his feet.

Everyone was familiar with the hero's abilities from the previous match against Kuroda.

President Tan narrowed his eyes and asked, "Are you planning to add 'fusion' to your hand again from the deck?"

Yuyu smiled and replied, "No, Blazeman has other special abilities. He can choose one of his two special abilities to activate in a single round."

"When successfully summoned, he can add fusion card from the deck to my hand. That's his first ability. But this time, I want to use his second ability."

Yuyu extended his hand and gestured, "Activate Blazeman's special effect! Which sends any 'Elemental Hero' card from the deck to the graveyard. Until the end of the turn, Blazeman's attack power, defense power, and attributes will become the same as that card."

He retrieved the deck from the duel board.

"I send 'Elemental Hero Golden Bladedge' from the deck to the graveyard." Yuyu announced as he drew a card and placed it in the graveyard.

A golden hero emerged behind Blazeman on the field. The golden hero spread his arms and let out a deep growl, akin to gathering strength, while flames roared around him.

The crowd watching the match erupted into excitement.

"Summoning a card with 2600 attack power so easily?"

"This is too strong!"

"Wait, won't the president be defeated?"

At that moment, Yuyu had both Blazeman with an attack power of 2600 and Wildheart with an attack power of 1500 on his field, totaling an impressive 4100 attack power.

On the other hand, Tan's field was empty, and his LP stood at a mere 3600. If the attack succeeded, the duel would come to an end.

"No mercy, Mr. President," Yuyu said with a slight smile.

President Tan narrowed his eyes even further, his small eyes squinting pitifully.

"Battle phase!" Yuyu commanded. "'Elemental Hero - Blazeman', attack directly!"

The flame trailing behind Blazeman propelled him forward, and he flew into the air, circling flexibly. Using his hand like a blade, he drew a fiery and spectacular arc before slashing down.

A direct hit!

The President gritted his teeth and took the blow head-on. The scorching flames, enhanced by the dark game, seared his body, causing him to kneel on the ground.

"The final blow!" Yuyu said calmly. "Wildheart, attack directly!"

Following the order, Wildeheart let out a battle cry and charged forward with his blade.

President Tan knelt on the ground, enduring the pain. "Activate the Spell Card... Monster Reincarnation! I choose a monster in my graveyard and Special Summon it to the field in Attack Mode!

"Resurrect, Archfiend Cavalry!" he declared.

A dark storm swept across the ground, and the demon mounted on a horse returned to the duel arena.

"Archfiend Cavalry!" Tan commanded. "Engage Wildheart in battle!"

The archfiend cavalry charged forward, and its spiraling spear thrust out. Wildheart had no time to evade and could only block with his blade, but it proved futile. The spear shattered the blade violently and dealt a severe blow to Wildheart, causing him to vanish from the field.

Yuyu watched the scene unfold and sighed silently.

"At the end of the turn, Blazeman's special ability ends, and the attack power returns to its original value." Yuyu says.

Tan said, "Then it's my turn. I draw a card!"

As he added the drawn card to his hand, he chuckled twice before bursting into laughter.

"You are indeed quite powerful. You are one of the best duelists I have faced," he said, turning a card from his hand to face Yuyu. "I admit it, kid. You have earned the right to see this card."

The audience erupted with excitement, exclaiming, "Is it coming? 'That card'?"

"The president's trump card! That super rare high-level Archfiend!"

"I can't believe we get to witness the president using this card. This is epic!"

Tan placed the card on the duel plate. "I tribute the 'Archfiend Cavalry' on the field. Come forth, my trump card, the ultimate archfiend... Skull Archfiend of Lightning, I summon you!"

A thick, swirling cloud formed above the ring, and a golden lightning bolt struck the dark cloud. Countless electric currents cascaded, clustering around a massive black shadow, as if welcoming the arrival of an absolute king.

The demon descended from the sky, emanating an air of disdain for everything. Its bone-white structure formed armor that covered its body, while golden lightning snaked around it, exuding an indescribable aura of malevolence.

Cheers and shouts erupted from the audience, as all the dark duelists marveled at the powerful archfiend summoned by the president.

"Attack Blazeman!" Tan ordered without hesitation.

The archfiend on the field roared, and a high-voltage golden lightning bolt shot out from its rib-like armor on the chest.

The thunderous blast rushed toward the opposing side, a mass of silver dragons in flight, aimed directly at Blazeman.

"Activate a card!" Yuyu pressed the button on the duel plate. "Negate Attack! When a monster from your opponent attacks it nullify its attack, also forcibly ending the Battle Phase."

"Hmph, I expected you to counter with traps," Tan sneered. "But this card is the highest-level archfiend, and traps won't work against him!"

Yuyu's face remained calm. "The special ability of the 'Skull Archfeind of Lightning' allows it to roll a dice when it becomes the target of an effect. If the number rolled is 1, 3, or 6, my 'Negate Atrack' activation will be nullified and destroyed. However, if the number rolled is 2, 4, or 5, the activation remains valid."

"Yes, it's a fifty-fifty chance," Tan remarked. "I'm absolutely confident, after all, you should always be confident!"

The audience couldn't help but cover their faces.

Boss, it's one thing for others to say that, but you, a guy who loses every gamble, claiming to have good luck...

Everyone had always thought that the Skull Archfeind of Lightning, such a powerful monster, was a risky choice for the boss because of his luck. After all, encountering 1, 3, or 6 on a dice roll may be a rare occurrence for him...

But Tan could and did maintain a winning record despite his abysmal luck. It was a testament to the formidable strength of the 6-star with its 2500 attack power.

At that moment, the power released by the archfiend materialized into a flaming die on the field. The gigantic die soared in a whirlwind before descending along a trail of flames.

Tan swallowed, his gaze fixed on the flipping flame die, his eyes unblinking...

"Hahaha! I got it!" Tan erupted with excitement, resembling a child with a 500-pound toy. "The activation is invalidated!"

The whirlwind unleashed by the trap card dissipated instantly under the Skull Archfeind of Lightning's impact, shattering the card into pieces. The electric currents surged through Blazeman's body, dealing a powerful blow to both him and Yuyu.

Yuyu clenched his teeth, feeling the pain of over 1,000 damage. He slid back half a step.

The audience was stunned by what they witnessed.

Did the boss just... win a gamble?

This is record-breaking, right?

Everyone looked at Yuyu with surprise.

Who is this guy?

His luck is even darker than our boss, which is completely unscientific!

Yuyu smiled helplessly and glanced at his unfortunate 20-point luck value on his data panel.

Suddenly, Tan realized something.

By using Blazeman's special ability to send Golden Bladedge from the deck to the graveyard, and then using Monster Reincarnation to retrieve it from the graveyard, it's like choosing a monster from the deck and adding it to the hand indirectly...

What an amazing combo!

President Tan felt like he was opening the door to a new world.

"Now, I activate the 'Fusion' from my hand!" Yuyu played a Spell Card. "I fuse 'Elemental Hero - Golden Bladedge' and 'Elemental Hero - Avian' in my hand to perform a Fusion Summon!"

Note: Holyyyyyy this chapter took way to long, finally can now go and do my workout in peace 😌

And by the way I could't find 2 of the cards the characters used, so I replaced it with Monster Reincarnation, the closest thing I could find, so don't mind if that broke any rules or anything…
