TIME TO GO

Ashely was running late,it was their first anniversary she wanted it to be perfect and to go as she had planned, after everything she called for an uber.When she arrived at the restaurant Alfie was not there yet, so she had to wait for him,minutes turned into almost an hour, that's when she decided to call him and ask his whereabouts,

"hey hun,did you forget what day it is?"Ashely asked.

"sorry but i can't make it am really caught up with work and i need to submit important files before noon,sorry but i promise i will make it up for you"those were the few words that made Ashely feel alone.

Since Alfie got a promotion at work he rarely spent time with her,all he does is talk about work and his promises that he never fulfills,she stood up,grabbed her purse and walked out of the restaurant she did some shopping and bought a gift then went back to her apartment and sat on the floor as tears came out,at that moment she could remember how life was easy when the whole promotion was not there,they would cook together or order something to eat and watch late night movie's, everything changed abruptly she didn't know if she could continue with it.

She got up and headed to the couch and there she sat and fell asleep,when Alfie came the door was not locked, when he got in the first thing he saw was the young lady who had fallen asleep on the couch,all he wanted was to hold her tight hug her and kiss her nevertheless he wanted to make the day special for both of them but it couldn't happen,he had failed her again,he carried her to bed and laid her down gently,at this point he was stressed of how he would break the news to her,he knew it would hurt her even more. The following day he woke up early prepared breakfast and took a bath ready to go to work, Ashley woke up later and also got ready for work, just when she was about to leave Alfie held her and directed her by to have a sit,at this moment he seemed serious he held Ashley's soft hands,then he broke the news that he was going to work abroad and that he would come back in two years time and he would leave the day after tomorrow,at this time Ashley was speechless she didn't know what to say she grabbed her bag and left.

The following day she went back home and got Alfie packing his stuff's passed him without altering a word and went and took a shower later then she went to bed early without eating anything she was so stressed out and didn't know what to do,as she layed there she could hear Alfie still awake walking up and down later he came to bed and said nothing everybody stayed at their side not a finger touching,they both laid there lost in their own thoughts knowing that this could be the last time they would sleep on the same bed,"hun are you still awake?"he managed to say something,she turned and looked at him her eyes filled with tears,he held her,"don't cry we shall figure everything out," he was doing the talking,"all am doing now is for our future..."

"our future or yours, you are leaving me alone,i thought we were a team all you do is think about yourself, you don't understand how much you mean to me ,i need you in my life you are my necessity, please don't go, don't leave me alone"tears were flowing from her eyes as she said this words, Alfie pulled the loose strands of hair that were on her face,as he assured her that everything will be fine.She kept crying on his arms begging him not to go until she slumbered and fell asleep.

At exactly 10:00 am Alfie was ready to go,he then woke Ashley and she took her bath, although she wasn't comfortable with the idea of letting his love walk away she had to accompany him to the station.They called an Uber,the whole journey was silent Ashley stared at the window thinking of her fate of how things will be when he his gone, they reached the station and he was ready to leave "it's time for me to go but i promise we shall be communicating nothing will change,not even distance shall separate us"as he said the words Ashley cried knowing very well nothing will work out,if everything is hard when he is around things will be more harder when he is far,she knew this was the last time,even the one speaking seemed to doubt all he was saying, things didn't go as planned."i am going to be late,for now take care of yourself for me,and with no time i will be back"he said as he kissed her,and as he let go of her hand pulling his suitcase and began walking away,from a far he turned and waved goodbye,tears continued flowing from Ashley's face,watching him walking away from everything they built everything they dreamt of doing together maybe it was fate playing its weird jokes,for a moment he could see him then took a corner and he was no where to be seen again,she fell on a sit nearby and cried all her heart out,she walked back home having nothing to do on a weekend she spent the entire day sleeping.
