SOMEONE HE MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER

Nicholas next appointment was with his Psychologist. He had fixed the appointment before he lost consciousness and it was quite a convenient time to see the man as he was near.

He knocked on the door and heard an elderly mans voice.

Professor Stanford smiled when he saw Nicholas and beckoned for the man to sit.

"Is it the dreams again?"

Nicholas nodded letting his vulnerable side show. To him Profeseor Stanford was not just a Psychologist but a father figure to him. It was thanks to the Professor that he could hold the family name Fretakis.

"I had a long one this time."

The Professor opened a safe and brought out a file. He put his reading glasses on and read through the last page. "Do you remember what it was about this time?"he peered at the relaxed Nicholas through his glasses.

Nicholas frowned and replied. "I do."

Amused by his expression, he questioned. "Haven't you always wanted that?"

He wasn't sure how to reply now so he kept mute for a while, giving the professor a blank look for few seconds.

"Blue...isnt it?"

"Blue."a faint smile formed on his lip and the Professor noticed it. He wrote some things in the file and focused back on Nicholas.

"Sit on the chair."

He did not need to be told which chair before he stood to take his place. He frequently visited this place like it was his second home.

Once he was relaxed, the Professor wrapped a clothe around his arm and squinted his eyes at a device he held. He pressed some buttons and adjusted the frequency before asking the patient.

"How do you feel?"

"Slightly dizzy."

He placed the device on the nearby stool and positioned himself in front of Nicholas. "What do you remember?"

Since being a boy, he had always had disturbing nightmares that made him awake at night. His parents had brought him over to the Professor whom he formed a bond with. Ever since then, whenever he had a nightmare he would call the Professor and not once had the man complained of his complaints.

When everyone thought he was weird and a freak, this professor said he was special and it changed his view on the world.

Hesitant, he closed his eyes and slowly spoke. "Blue girl. I think she used to be my love...beautiful. A castle."he opened his eyes and saw the man staring at him.

"Is she the one you recently met?"

"Yes."he did not bother to deny it since the man would find out either way.

"How have you been sleeping since then?"

"Very well."

He had troubles with sleeping but two years ago on a particular night, he slept so soundly, he didn't know when the little one slipped out of the room causing him to miss her. Since then, he only had to think of her blue eyes and touch and it made him sleep comfortably at night. There were nights when things werent rosy and it didnt work, but most of all Phantasy was his best sleeping pill.

"Let's do the hypnosis."

The Professor sighed and moved back to his seat, leaving Nicholas there. "Its too risky. With the last experiment…"

"Which almost cost you your license."He remained and they both chukled at the thought.

"Whatever memories you have, are too deep for me to perform ordinary hypnosis on."

The last time he had been hypnotised, it almost caused him to have a heart attack and the results in the end was futile as he could not remember a thing of the broken pieces of memory that flashed across his mind.

He sat upright this time earning a warning look from the Professor. "You said it was because my mind was not prepared. I am older now and more prepared." he argued.

"Isn't the aim to be able to remember the dream and the girl?"

"It was…"he stopped and the Professor urged him to go on, scratching his chin while adjusting his glasses. "But now...I want to know everything."

"Why?"

"I feel like I might regret it. Like there is more to everything. There is something I need to know."

"Something you should never forget…?"

He stared at the row of books on the shelf opposite him. "And someone I must always remember."

The Professor chukled and arranged some books on his desk, he did not know how to deal with this issue that Nicholas was facing. "You are becoming greedy Nicholas Fretakis."

The man did not deny it. "I am."

And he did not care if he became more greedy. The way his heart and body was changing after meeting the girl. And his weird feelings towards her. He had always heard of love at first sight but he did not want to believe it could happen to him or he did not want to accept it has happened to him.

Nicholas felt it was impossible to meet someone and want to be with them all the time. But he felt that way for Phantasy now. If he actually expressed what he felt to her, he was scared she might bolt.

Not to mention that he had now a weird thought of what her blood smells like.

He dared not think, that- that fictional thing, is what he is becoming.

He glanced at the Professor and thought of telling the man but he decided against it. It would be totally weird to say he felt like be could smell blood from afar.

But after waking, the only thing he could smell was her blood and the way it pumped.

"Something on your mind?"the Professor offered, scribbling something in a paper. He got on his feet and walked to Nicholas. "Let us try a short hypnosis system."

Nicholas immediately agreed and rested back on the chair, eyes closed.

"Think of something you dreamed about."

His mind travelled to Phantasy, her blue eyes, enchanting smile and touch.

The last he heard was a click and instantly, he fell into a slumber.

In this void darkness, the only thing thing he saw was flickering light and his own hands. His fingers were elongated and had sharp claw like nails. The darkness started to brighten a bit as he adjusted his eyes to it.

It was not the flickering light that illuminated the void but his own eyes was what saw it clearly.

This scene was too familair….
