Chapter two

It was an average wednesday morning and it an oddly cool morning because it was summer. The Trees had more shade than other past morning and the solemn occurance was the most noticeable. At least, by this time there should be cars pulling out of driveways and garages with kids chattering to get into school buses and private cars but there was none.

Peter, who had been awake for more than thirty minutes but felt lazy to come out of his cozy duvet finally sat up straight, his hand holding tight to the wooden edge of the bed. Staring blankly at the wooden floor, he noticed a pattern across the floor which he had never noticed since the past ten years he's been there. "What's this?" He finally thought out loud, bending over, using his right middle finger to trace the pattern. Noticing that the image was quite having a creative meaning, he took out his jotter note and a pencil from cabinet's middle drawer. "This looks quite familiar though" He said, sitting back on his bed after drawing the pattern in his jotter. "That'll be later. I'm almost late" He Smirked, throwing the jotter note on his bed then sprang towards the bathroom.

Foden High School was about half a kilometre from peter's House and virtually the most attended school in the whole neighborhood. Built more seventy years ago, it was the oldest but fortunately for good perseverance and recontruction, the school still looked great.

"Youre quite late today, dude. Anything the problem? You don't look great" Jaden Saphhire said, walking towards peter just as he got to his locker. "I'm okay. How're you doing?" Peter replied, without looking at Jaden. "I'm okay. Did you hear about the Odd looking airship that crashed today? It's quite really huge." Jaden smirked, adjusting his collar. "Well, i clearly didn't. No wonder everywhere was quiet" Peter said, his voice rather pitched than normal, finally looking at Jaden for the first time since the conversation began. "Heard it killed Three people with two injured. Luckily, it fell at a construction site quite far from residential areas." Jaden pointed out, as they began walking towards their class. "Has the Ship been opened?" Peter questioned. "Nada. It's rumoured that it's not human because it bears a logo with a writing that's not in any earth language. Probably aliens or who knows?" Jaden said as they entered their class.

Rinnng!. The school's closing bell went off and everyone in peter's class dashed outta the class except peter and Tanisha Wells, the popular fashion freak in the whole school. Staring at her as he slowly bagged his books, he noticed she was alone and her countenance wasn't one to pry in with a good talk. "Hi there. You ain't going home yet?" Peter finally spoke, as he walked away from his desk, moving slowly towards her. His mind raced because she held a record for making a mess out of guys, no matter how he looked except she liked him before he liked her. "Hey. Why are you still here? The bell's off" she responded in a low tone without looking at who spoke to her. "I walk alone. Just me so i don't have to rush since it's just me going home" Peter was still quite amazed but puzzled by her response. Tanisha cared for nobody talk less of a nerd like him. "How about you? It's quite late and your friends left already" He added. "I don't wanna go home. I just wanna have a little peace" Tanisha replied, fiddling with her blonde hair which hung loosed across her shoulders. "Anything up? You could talk to me if you want" He volunteered just as he got to her desk side. "There's nothing. And why would you even wanna talk to me?" She asked admist a slight chuckle. "You don't seem great. And i could do my best so as you won't have to be downtrodden cause this isn't the tanisha everyone knows though" He replied, in a honest tone that seemed like he tried hard to avoid lying. "My dad died in the crash. He worked there" She finally confessed. "It fell on his car while he was just about to get down" she added, her voice shaky. "I'm so sorry about that. I really am. You should be with your mom. She'll be bothered by now" peter said, sitting next to her. "My stepmom. She doesn't care about me. She's just interested in my dad's wealth and possessions. I'm just confused because i don't know where to go" She spoke in a very shaky voice and finally cut into a sob. Peter was actually confused on what to do but he remembered that his dad wouldn't mind him not being home late. He stared at his watch but it was just few minutes until five.

"How about i walk with you?" He offered, not sure of the answer of the answer she would give him. "You don't have to stress yourself, peter. I'll be fine" she responded, wiping her eyes. "I insist. Please. If it's all i could do right now, I'm honored to" Peter said back, going back to his desk to take his bag. "Okay. Thank You" She said, and for the first time, looked up to him with a broad smile across her pretty wet face. Peter, on the other hand, felt a sudden rush in him making him flush inside but smartly avoided it from being noticed. "You'll be fine. I promise you this, tanisha" He said to her, cleaning her eyes then led the way out of the classroom.

Peter had a belief that nothing could possibly change; everyday was the same. But today had a different turn. He get one surprise that changes the entire routines in his life
