Chapter 15

I spent most days at the lake; Shelby and I got into our own little apartment. We both started a part-time job at the local farmers market, I did online schooling.

Months passed, and I hadn't heard from Jackson but I figured he was still upset. Rumor was he was in another relationship but that's all it was. A rumor.

Michael's trial came to an end after months. They sentenced him to 12 years, it wasn't a lot for what he did but after my outbreak, I feel like the judge wasn't on my side as much. It was good to feel safe. Kind of. He still had his friends but I had hoped they'd leave me alone.

I looked up to Shelby walking up "What's up?" She leaned next to me on the huge tree that overlooked the lake. I smiled "Just thinking." She picked up a twig and started breaking it in her hand "Have you heard from him?"

I frowned "I don't care to bother it anymore. If he wanted to talk to me, he would." She wrapped her arms around me "I'm sorry. We will get through this."
