Chapter 25: Deciphering the revelation

I decided to get a little inspiration by reading some books from Rick Riordan again, so thats the reason why there was no chapter in a while. In this chapter, I experimented with a slightly different style as it incorporates more direct speech than previous chapters, and I relied less on translation.

--------

As the group consisting of Adan, Riley and Diana approached Chiron in his cabin, they tried to decipher the meaning behind the revelation but they had some difficulties with it. Riley exclaimed: "Where the hell should the island be. There must be like thousands of them in the atlantic."

Adan chimed in, "I'm unsure of the location, but there must be clues along the way. During my journey to Camp-Halfblood, I followed hints that led me here," he recalled, reminiscing about his encounter with the huntresses of artemis.

Upon reaching Chiron's cabin, with its door wide open and seeing Chriron sitting on a chair, Adan pondered, 'Can satyrs even sit with their four hooves?'

Diana noticed Adan's expression and pondered the same. However, as they walked in, she hastened to assist Chiron to his feet as he had difficulties standing up alone. She and Chiron also shared a closer bond than most, as Diana occasionally offered him makeup tips – an unexpected trait for a centaur to possess.

Not all centaurs are always handsome.

Observing their approach, Chiron greeted them warmly, "Hey Riley, Adan, and Diana, what brings you to visit me today?"

Before Adan could respond, Riley interjected, "You've surely heard about the Oracle sending Adan on a mission."

Chiron agreed but asked someone to repeat it as he had unfortunately forgotten it again.

Adding to Riley's statement, Adan then recounted the Oracle's words:

On an island in the Atlantic, Adan and his team reside,

The monster lurks, and they must abide.

But gods they encounter, from near and far,

In this wondrous journey, reaching for a star.

In the Sahara, hot and vast,

An unknown group, in solitude amassed.

Adan meets them, in the desert's sand,

A new chapter unfolds, in that foreign land.

After a brief pause, Chiron, curiosity evident in his tone, inquired, "Do you wish for my assistance?" Although he wished to help them, this time he couldn't.

In unison, the trio responded, "Yes." However, Chiron's response was unexpected. "It's your mission, so you must handle it yourselves. Since you're a trio, you can figure it out together."

Disheartened and disapointed by Chiron's response, the three left the cabin, retreating to the lakeside at sunset to ponder their next steps by walking through the sand beach barefoot.

"We roughly know the direction we need to head – towards the Atlantic Ocean. The second stanza mentions the Sahara Desert, so we need to head towards Africa. The question is, how do we get there?" mused Adan, his brow furrowed in concentration.

Though both listened intently, Riley, recalling tales of flying ships from his half-siblings, suggested, "We could use a flying ship, they are quite convenient."

Diana shot Riley a reproachful look, questioning, "And where would we find such a 'flying ship'?"

Growing defensive, Riley raised his voice, "At least I contributed something meaningful, unlike you!"

Interjecting, Adan tried to calm the tension, "Hey guys, let's not argue! We're just brainstorming. We could also consider taking a normal ship on water or a plane. However, I'd rather not fly, considering the presence of Anemoi Thuelai in the air – storm spirits I'd rather not encounter. Also I'm a little bit afraid of heights.

Once tensions eased, Diana voiced her concerns, "Then a sea voyage seems our only option, though it'll take too long."

However, Riley, after further contemplation, proposed an innovative idea, "Guys, I've got it! I can build us a jetski – faster than a ship but without the need to fly."

Diana questioned, "And how do you plan to address fuel consumption and the time it takes to construct one?" Then she murmured quietly and added, "They are also very uncomfortable."

Shrugging, Riley replied hopefully, "I'll figure something out with my half-siblings. They'll assist in building it, and we should be done within a week. Maybe we could improve the suspension to offer more comfort."

He also boasted to his group, "We have a large workshop and storage area beneath our cabin. There are ample resources to build things for hundreds of years."

Listening intently, Adan exclaimed, "You braggert! Then it's decided: We'll head towards Africa on the jetskis!"
