It was hard for me to speak with the lump in my throat as I fought to keep my tears from falling. My males surrounded us, keeping their backs to each other just in case there was another unexpected ambush.
"Do you accept my oath?" asked the Priest, and I could feel a tingle, even through my armor, where he touched me with his bloody hand. "I make this oath to you in blood so that it will be as everlasting as the universe. This is my covenant to you if you will accept it."
More blood trickled out of his mouth, and I could have sworn I could feel it under my knees as well.
Nodding my head, I cleared my throat a few times. "I accept your oath, 062 of the Priestly Order. May you go in peace from this life, and I will see you in your next."
With one last shuddering breath, the Priest closed his eyes, his hands falling limply to his sides as his soul left his body.
