Cold... wet? I looked up as I shivered and felt drops of rain hit my forehead, and immediately the sleep left me. I stood up and searched for something to collect the rain with. The things around me felt useless. I couldn't even see anything clearly. I decided to take off my clothes and squeeze the water out of them onto the dirt. I made sure I did this until the water ran clear to make sure the ashes stuck to my clothes were gone. This way, I wouldn't swallow anything dangerous from the fire.
Once the water was clear, I began ringing the water into my mouth. I was able to get much more water this way, and I cleaned them in the process. They no longer looked black. The way the water felt in my dry mouth brought me to my knees. I collapsed and continued getting more rain on the clothes to drink from. I found myself sucking the fabric at times, desperate for more. I hadn't before realized how dehydrated I was nor how little the sap had satisfied my thirst.
