Shallow waters [Part-2]

Next-day

[The training pool was abuzz with anticipation. Rank numbers 6, 7, and 8—Zara, Levi, and Nora—were set to take the underwater test. The bar was already high after the impressive performances by ranks 12, 13, and 14. These three cadets were known for their exceptional skills and determination.]

[Instructor 7]: "Alright, cadets. Today, Zara, Levi, and Nora will take the underwater test. The records to beat are 3 minutes 30 seconds for breath-holding and 2 minutes 45 seconds for the fastest swim. Ready?"

[Zara, Rank 6]: (confidently) "Ready to set new records, Instructor."

[Levi, Rank 7]: (smirking) "Let's show them how it's done."

[Nora, Rank 8]: (nodding) "We've got this."

[The three cadets took their positions at the edge of the pool. They exchanged determined glances before diving in, their entry smooth and graceful. The water enveloped them as they prepared for their tests.]

[Instructor 7]: "Begin!"

[First up was the breath-holding test. The cadets floated motionless, their faces calm and focused. The seconds ticked by, and soon a minute had passed. At two minutes, their resolve remained unshaken. As they approached the three-minute mark, ranks 12, 13, and 14 watched in awe, their previous records feeling less secure.]

[Instructor 7]: "Three minutes... three-thirty... four minutes!"

[The stopwatch clicked past four minutes, and the onlookers were on the edge of their seats. Finally, Zara surfaced first, followed by Levi and then Nora. The new record stood at 4 minutes and 15 seconds.]

[Instructor 7]: "Incredible! You've shattered the previous record. Well done!"

[Zara]: (catching her breath) "That was just the warm-up."

[Levi]: "Let's see how fast we can swim now."

[Nora]: "Time to set another record."

[After a brief rest, the cadets lined up again for the speed swim. At Instructor 7's signal, they launched into the water, their movements powerful and streamlined. Zara took the lead, her strokes precise and rapid. Levi was close behind, his strength propelling him forward. Nora, with her graceful technique, kept pace effortlessly.]

[Instructor 7]: "Look at them go! They're moving like torpedoes!"

[Zara touched the wall first, clocking in at an astonishing 2 minutes and 10 seconds. Levi and Nora were just a few seconds behind her.]

[Instructor 7]: "Two minutes and ten seconds! That's nearly half a minute faster than the previous record. Phenomenal!"

[Zara]: (grinning) "Told you we'd set new records."

[Levi]: "That was awesome. Great job, everyone."

[Nora]: "We make a good team."

[As they climbed out of the pool, the cadets exchanged high-fives and congratulatory remarks. Their performance had not only broken records but also inspired the others to push their limits further.]

[Rank 12]: "Wow, you guys were amazing. We've got a lot to learn from you."

[Rank 13]: "Yeah, seriously impressive."

[Rank 14]: "You've set the bar even higher now."

[Zara]: "Thanks, guys. Just keep practising, and you'll get there."

[Levi]: "It's all about finding your rhythm and staying focused."

[Nora]: "And never underestimate the power of teamwork."

[Instructor 7]: "Excellent work, Zara, Levi, and Nora. You've demonstrated what true skill and determination look like. Everyone takes a break and prepares for the next set of challenges."

[As they left the pool area, the atmosphere was filled with renewed motivation and camaraderie. The cadets were more determined to hone their skills and break even more records.]

[Zara]: "What's next on the agenda?"

[Levi]: "Whatever it is, I'm ready."

[Nora]: "Let's keep this momentum going."
