Chapter 6 - Weird man

'Are these people mage association agents?' this was the first thought that came onto Carl's mind.

After seeing this world in the life of Carl, he alleged the MA could have already known of his existence.

Carl's heart was starting to race, only to realize he doesn't seem to be the man's priority...

Or was he?

For some reason, the man was purposely getting into a stare down with Samuel.

"I personally don't know you brats, but your faces doesn't look too pleasant in my eyes. I really had to talk to this guy."

Not only the words that were coming out his mouth disrespectful, the tone and the attitude of the man was even more arrogant than them all

It felt very raw, and straight-forward. As if it was coming out of a handsome drunkard trying to start with fuglies in a British pub.

Carl looked behind him and even the blonde beauty could not help but sigh at this as if she was regretting of accompanying his co-worker.

Seeing the sudden development, Carl looked at the man and Samuel. Even Samuel's gang don't seem pleased.

Carl has went back to his bed this time to sit.

'I already have an idea of their identity, but who knew they sent someone so provocative?'

"Er--excuse me, but who's speaking?"

Carl then interrupted.

If he wants to avoid a commotion here, he might as well break this tension and confirm his allegation. Of course, he continued his scared pretend for the sake of keeping his identity hidden from the new visitors.

Samuel was about to bellow at Carl, but stopped when the man spoke.

"Ah, my identity? I'm from the Mage Association, Monitoring Division." Aaron said, and the aura of a mage seemed to glow from him for a second. To cultivators, they cannot fail to see this. with their innate perception of mana

'Mage Association?! '

Aaron made sure to glance at the youths with his one eye and seeing their shocked expressions made him smile.

Rylee, Jordan, Ferguson felt their hearts sunk to their stomach hearing the two letters 'MA' uttered! They knew the man was a cultivator but a mage and an MA agent?! This changes everything! Nothing that Samuel will say can move them now.

'This guy is from the mage association?'

They could not help but have the instinct to run away. They were just talking about that "incident" after all.

The cops were one thing, but what the hell was the Mage Association doing here?

If they slipped up on that incident and ended up offending the man, who knows what walls they will see tomorrow? Prison walls? Bars?

All of a sudden, the tension in the room intensified.

In the youths' minds, they knew they had just committed a crime after all. Plus, the underground city was actually a restricted area for citizens. Going there was basically trespassing onto government property!

Forget anyone's promise.

'If the fatty talked right now, Samuel might be alright, but it certainly won't end anywhere nice for us!' the students thought.

'The Mage Association…what are they doing here?'

What if Samuel suddenly decided to abandon them? You never what the guy was thinking after all, and his personality problems had turned pretty bad recently. He was practically the only one who almost killed another student with his sadism.

The boys in Samuel's group nervously turned their eyeballs at Carl. It was a big miracle that Carl wasn't already a cold corpse!

Carl meanwhile could not care less about their worries. He wasn't even trying to remember what they did.

'Mage Association, are they here to apprehend me? Or am I already apprehended?'

Since he woke up, Carl had been trying to figure out the identity of the few mages he sensed right before he passed out.

In the end, he had concluded it could only be someone from the Mage Association, the biggest organization in the world!

"What is MA's monitoring division doing here?" Samuel then asked. It was clear in his face that he was not scared of the association like the others. He even smirked and made a joke. "Is there an alien here by any chance?"

Samuel mocked the agent and smugly crossed his arms.

The man on the other was also smiling and their interaction was making the other boys anxious.

Samuel was a spoiled-rich brat. And to their memory, this was the first time they saw someone told Samuel Crone to get lost. Normally, he was not going to let the man walk away easily. Samuel was the type of the guy to kick an elder repeatedly. The boy was a walking time bomb, and he was just one-more away from shooting literal laser beams from his eyes.

Aaron scratched his face and glanced at his girl companion, who wasn't even looking at them now.

He was thinking of what to do, when Samuel grabbed his shoulder and looked at him with killing intent.

"Old man."

Samuel tried to overpower Aaron's mind but the sound of hitting an iron wall was the only thing he heard.

Knowing what just happened, Aaron chuckled lightly.

On the other hand, Samuel does not seem surprised. As if he just tested something.

He then walked past Aaron and spat on the floor. He shot a glare at the blonde beauty and glared at her before turning his gaze onto the fat boy on the bed.

"You better make sure you keep your end of our promise," Samuel said dryly and finally went out.  His followers immediately felt the weight on their shoulders disappear as they scurried out to escape

"Sigh, I should not have done that. I look like a child now."

Seeing them leave, Aaron started to talk rubbish while he grabbed a seat. Before he could plant his seat though, the blonde girl suddenly stepped forward and blocked him rudely.

"Excuse me," she said.

Aaron could only frown at this, but somehow, he did not make any actions.

Due to the commotion, it was only this time Carl was able to stare long at the beauty.

She had short blonde hair, icy-blue eyes, and seemed to be in her early twenties. She has quite the presence, the type that turns heads around in public. She was also developed nicely, have flawless white skin, and an attractive pair of legs.

This girl was naturally Cath, the assistant manager of a famous mage club.

When Cath noticed the fat boy's lustful eyes looking at her, her eyes suddenly turned weird and contorted.

"F-u-c-k you!"

Carl was stunned. The beautiful girl just cursed him.

"I am not with the mutt behind me, but I am a member of an organization. Carl Craze, our boss wants to meet you."

"What is this?…"

The girl handed a white business card.

After that, she clicked her tongue and turned around.

"Call that number." She said with no emotions.

Not saying more, she headed to the door and left just like that.

"The fuck was that?"

Carl mumbled when she was gone.

'She did not even introduce herself. Moreover, what is this--'

His thoughts were interrupted as the man suddenly snatched the card from him.

"Let's forget the girl on her period, shall we? Focus on me," Aaron stated and slipped the card on his chair, pinning it against his butt.

"Okay..." Carl replied despite the weirdness.

"Great. My name is Aaron Deer, a member of the monitoring division of the MA," he extended his hand for a handshake.

"Carl Craze, a 2nd year acolyte at River Mage Academy."

"I apologize for suddenly intruding on your friends visiting you," Aaron said and suddenly squeezed his hand.

Carl's face grimaced in pain and immediately pulled his hand away. The man was clearly squeezing his hand.

_Clears throat_

"Ahem, your friends, they seemed really unhappy we invited ourselves in; I hope they're not mad at me haha. Were you perhaps discussing something important?"

Aaron was not just weird, creepy and sarcastic. He was more talkative than he'd expected.

"No, it's okay. You don't know how much that helped," Carl replied and scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

But he did not let down his guard.

This man was obviously aware that he was not close to Samuel and his friends in the slightest. He even provoked Samuel for God's sake. What did he mean asking if they were discussing something?

'Still, I need to be serious. If this man is here, it must be related my arrival in this world. If not, why would someone from the MA's monitoring division be here? In any case, I have to pretend I have no idea.'

Carl smiled.

He should not make a bad impression. The Mage Association was the only organization he cannot make an enemy of, both now and in the future. If he wanted to survive in this world, he needed to act the part and blend in like a chameleon.

But he did not expect the next words that came out of the man's mouth.

"Let's get straight to business and stop the jokes then."

After Carl nodded in agreement, Aaron started to speak with a bigger smile.

"Let's start with the fact you are an otherwordler."
