Maggie squeezed and stroked the weak hand in hers. “We…I…was so worried. They wouldn’t let me see you last night.”
“I wouldn’t have been any fun.” Cam managed a smile.
Maggie could see that Cam was beginning to drift off.
“I’m going to let you sleep, sweetie. I’ll be back a little later.”
“Okay,” Cam mumbled. She was almost asleep again.
Maggie kissed her hand, then got up and left.

“But she’ll be alright?” Deems asked. Maggie had called him from her cell phone the moment she got out of the hospital.
“The doctor said she’ll be fine. She’s lost a lot of blood. The knife or whatever she was stabbed with punctured her lung but didn’t do much more damage than that. It could have been a lot worse.”
“And she killed a woman. Will she be charged?”
