Ryker woke up in a luxurious room with a high ceiling, large window, and beautiful façade. He woke up dressed in finery expensive clothing. He got on to his feet and walked up to the window to try to recollect his thoughts. Ryker felt more relaxed than ever.
He took a deep breath of the fresh air in the quiet room. He watched the sunrise behind the translucent dull curtains. He was cautious as he didn't want to get burned again to a crisp. He moved around the large room with high-quality furnishing with opulent, original art and portraits on the wall, a desk, a reading chair, large flat-screen TV. He felt hostile and kept his hand to himself, not wanting to touch anything.
He came to one of the art paintings on the wall that caught his eye. It was a harmoniously balanced piece of artwork.
"Hi! Finally, you're up. That's also one of my favorite pieces of artwork in the mansion." Eva was over at the doorway with a maid who entered and set down the breakfast tray on the room's desk and started tyding abit around the room and arranging.
Ryker was startled at first by the unexpected entry. He quickly turned around.
"Yes, the painting colors are extremely intriguing." Ryker plainly said took a pause.
"I'm guessing we haven't officially met, I'm Ryker, Ryker Zorlok." Ryker boldly said.
"Oh, like Orlok, but with a Z... you sure look different than when we picked you up two days ago, mysterious man. Well nice to meet you, I'm Eva." Eva confidently said as she offered her hand for greetings. They shook hands.
"He's up?" Leon asked as he entered the room.
"Yes, he is sweetie."
"Hi, we haven't officially met I'm Leon." Leon offered his hand for greetings.
"I'm Ryker, thank you for saving me. Both of you." Ryker appreciated.
Eva's had her eyes on Ryker the whole time.
"No problem, we help one of our own. Open the curtains it's dark in here," Leon ordered the maid.
She drew the curtains immediately.
"Nooooo, don…!" Ryker was shocked as he turned to the maid. He was about to jump to the room corner but wasn't fast to react. He stared directly at the bright sunlight entering the room through the window. He felt like he had seen death directly in the eye. He froze momentarily.
Ryker realized nothing was happening to him. He was not being scorched or burning up in the sun's presence.
"Hey, I'm okay. I'm still alive." Ryker felt ecstatic and relieved. Suddenly thoughts of doubts started filling his mind, how and why.
The maid left the room.
"Duh, don't worry we're now humans. The earth went ground zero with magic shit…Wait you thought you were still a vampire. That's cute. Would have been a first in months." Eva laughed hard at Ryker.
"What are you talking about, I was just a Vampire a few days ago, the rocket, in the spaceship… at the sh ... ship…mmmh, what did you do to mean?"
Ryker immediately charged towards Leon who was composed the whole time unlike Eva standing next to him drowning in laughter and giggles.
"What did you do to me turn me back, now?" Ryker was about to hold Leon by the neck when Leon countered the attack and pinned Ryker down.
Eva stopped laughing immediately. She was astonished by the escalation of the situation becoming physical.
"Chill out, we did nothing. Rumors say supernatural magic is fading. Vampires, Werewolves, witches, and the rest of supernatural beings and factions are losing connection with supernatural power turning back to our normal selves before we were gifted or cursed. We were once like you, Vampires, Level 6. You can believe or we can do this the whole day."
Ryker's face was pinned on the floor by Leon's knee bend and his hands were held by the back by Leon firm grip.
"Mmh, the whole day." Ryker smiled for a moment and quickly maneuvered Leon's submission and set himself free.
Leon and Eva were both surprised and impressed.
"Wait, you can't be serious, I've just been in my vampire state once I landed from a fiery blast and escaped some military pirates, I think?" Ryker composed himself.
"Do we like we're joking? What part of the gradual loss of power did you not understand? There hasn't been any citing of vampires around the world in months, my friend. It's the new world order now." Leon answered condescendingly.
"It's been centuries and we lived with the curse. It's about time we live our normal life, and accept it, being human. If you wish to look for answers you're free to leave Ryker. My husband and I would like to get back to our renewed honeymoon." Eva was cranky.
"Okay, I believe you and I will leave…" Ryker was cut short by the buzzing sound of drones. He turned only to see one of the drones through the window outside.
"Fuck, they've found me." Ryker was infuriated.
"Who?" Leon asked as both he and Eva had no clue of what Ryker's mumbles were about. They saw the drone and were alarmed.
"Get down." Ryker screamed out as he jumped foward pushing the couple out of the way of the drones visual. They all landed down on the floor with a thud taking cover.
