Zoe and Wilder landed safely on the shores. Zoe was in shock and was in denial that Ryker was gone.
"It can't be, he isn't dead. He is immortal. He has to be alive." Zoe was sited at the ocean shore having removed her space suit remaining with a soggy dress and barefooted.
Wilder was removing his suit, having been gathering some research books in the spacecraft He was laying them to the sun to dry up. Luckily, there were no people at the beach. It was still crack at dawn.
The spacecraft was half field with salty water, it landed a few feet away from the beach, on the shores.
He suddenly stopped and looked at Zoe with sympathy. As she was in denial and was grieving. He was also grieving but in his way. Deeply tormented inside. He wondered how could they make such a huge mistake, leading to Ryker having to sacrifice himself for them to live.
Wilder moved and sat next to her at the beach. He tried comforting her. They both sat down looking at the sunrise on the ocean horizon.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Wilder said.
"I thought I'll be happy to be back here, but I feel nothing but emptiness," Zoe said as she laid her head on Wilders left shoulder.
"Sorry, Zoe, I understand you guys were close but you have to keep it together. His death wasn't in vain... We should start moving." Wilder said sympathetically.
"I suppose you're right." Zoë energetically said as she sprung up. She squeezed water from the tip of her wet dress below her knee height.
Wilder got up and grabbed his research books, and some devices: drives. They both walked along the beach toward some boats at a distance hoping to meet people.
"I think we landed in Whales. Though ain't sure if the coordinates were right." Wilder spoke his mind freely.
"Hope so. It ain't far from London. I can't wait to sleep in my bed tonight." Zoe said as they both picked up the pace.
"I had missed the feeling of sand between my toes and seeing the majestic waves once more," Wilder said.
"Me too, Wilder. Sure feels good to be home, really wish Ryker was here to see this." Zoe replied.
